WHR: Past Present and Future
A historic event with NWNGR 2-6-2T Russell returning to the southern section of the Welsh Highland Railway for the first time in preservation, joined by visiting Hunslet Works No. 1215 (running number 303), Ffestiniog locomotives Single Fairlie Taliesin, England locomotives Prince and Palmerston, L&B replica Lyd and diesel Moelwyn. NGG16s 138 and 143 operating standard WHR trains on the weekend days, while double fairies Merddin Emrys and David Lloyd George were in charge of Ffestiniog services.
De Winton 'Chalonoer' was in operation on demonstration goods trains between Porthmadog and Boston Lodge, while Quarry Hunslets Britomart and Hugh Napier were in operation alongside Gelert on the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway.
One of the highlights of the event was the locomotives of the trench railways of the First War I line up at Porthmadog Harbour station on Friday night with WDLR 303, Alco Mountaineer and diesel Simplex 'Mary Ann' and 'Moelwyn'.
Boston Lodge Locomotive Works was also open with Welsh Pony, Lilla and new build Double Fairlie James Spooner in the erecting shop.
