we went on that train last summer but only as far as beddgelert , we were lucky because our dog hated the banging and rattling of the train so we were pleased to get off but then beddgelert was so pretty , we sat with our feet in the steam as it was a scorching summer ,theres a story about a faithful dog and how beddgelert got its name -)
This is definitely one of the best Welsh highland train videos I've watched !! Top 3 ,if not the best !! I've watched more than a dozen I believe !! 👍👍👍👏👏👏💜🥁🐉🎤🎵🎶💕💞
@@BobEarnshawMoHo You're very welcome !! Truly ,it is a beautiful video ...I am currently planning our trip ( me & mom )to Wales and England. Possibly Italy & Hungary, too ! I decided not to do Weldh Highland train ride ...because of our tight budget & itineraries ( too many places ) ...,but now it's back on because of your video !!! Lol. Thank you for this beautiful video !! Thank you so much for your reply !! Stay safe ! 💜💜💜💜💜🥁🐉🎤🎵🎶💕💞
Fantastic brings back some nice memory's I went from Porthmadog 12 years ago but we went a different route up the mountains they said locals use it to get to work it stopped a few times to let people off, also good seeing the new station. we passed waterfalls and high bridges a bit scary:) and we went late so did not have time to look around at the destination has it was the last train back down my Grandfathers brother drove the mallard, thankyou for sharing your journey
Thanks for that Bob and Jenny. We were on the forest camp site as you went past. We didn't go on the train as our dog is too nervous around people. I think you would need more than a hour to go around the castle as it's so big. It was really nice to see the train journey as we could not do it. Thank you.
Great video guys, Porthmadog always has more parking. We have used the car park you was directed to and the chippy you passed mmmm. I was surprised that there was a few parking places near the castle but it was a weekday
Thanks again for the trip. Yet again I have stayed at coed Helen cvan site. I remember it was ten bob a night in those days! Two adults, two kids, one car and a full size awning. No elec hook up or super pitches in those days.🤣
Nice video! I wish South Africa wakes up! We also had the old heritage railway called Outeniqua Tjoo Tjoo... and eventually fell to neglect. The British care for the rivers and canals, the heritage railway and everything just seems to be perfect! I can start to understand why our tourist destinations is falling apart as I now see what is on offer over there! Awesome video! Thanks Bob!
What a beautiful part of the world! Thank you so much for this lovely vlog guys the train journey looks fab something to add to our list .. looks like Pops and Tara enjoyed their day out too! 😊
Another great video that covered several places we visited last weekend but frustratingly although we were staying on a site near Waunfawr (in our VWT5) we never realised it had a station! Silly us :)
It was a beautiful area - apart from the stunning backdrop of the mountains, it’s really close to Llanberis (the national slate museum is a must!) and Beddgelert - such a picturesque location with tasty local produce. Although we live in the gorgeous Wye Valley and Forest of Dean, North Wales really attracts us with its stunning scenery :) its great to see your trip to Wales - your films have been really enjoyable.
The Welsh Highland & the Ffestiniog Railway is a combined Heritage and total distance is 40miles From Caernarfon-Porthmadoc then change for Blaenau Ffestiniog. 😊
Hi, what beautiful scenery we are going back first week in July we stay at a caravan touring site called Mynydd Du caravan park surrounded by stunning mountain views just 5mins from Porthmadog and 5mins from Criccieth beautiful beaches and small town not commercialised which we like,Black rock sands beach is beautiful as well. last year we were watching porpoises in Criccieth Bay excellent.Beddgelert is worth a visit lovely cafe by the stream excellent food but go in your car roads aren’t made for motorhome or caravan. We also have had fish &chips from that chip shop would highly recommend 👍 thanks for sharing xxx
Where was ur Westie when you did ur walk about the castle??? Chicago Renee loves ur vids, I bought the best wool slippers when I was near Snowdon Mountains had them for Years until the fell apart! Kept my feet toasty in the cold Chicago weather!!
I've always gone the other way to Ffestiniog. Will have to try that way. Have you any idea if the grave at Bedgelert is anywhere near the railway station? I always feel I've come home when I go to Wales. Thanks for sharing. Still loving your vids. - Lin xx
Er no, think that's because the coaches were designed last century, or was it the one before? There was a very nice station at Caernarvon with all the modern conviences.

We did the same roads in our A class this weekend. they were a bit tight in places.
Graham Tyrer yes I agree our caravan was on site we went in our Kuga and met a bus on a tight bend quite scary

Nice video Bob,made me slightly home sick. As they say you can’t live on a view less I’d be a multi millionaire.lol
Your pronunciation of Beddgelert was hilarious 😂... 👍🏻
Thanks, but I thought that was one of the few I got close. to. Beth gel airt?
Sorry.. it was just how you seemed to break it down as if it was 2 or 3 words instead of 1.
@@copperknob1971 you should hear me try to pronounce Llanfairphwll.....
Dogs (pets) can be so restricting, when you have them you wouldn’t be without them. But when your pet free you can do so much more.
The water tenant is at the front of the train and coal in the back one

We didn't get off at Beddgelert, so I don't know, would love to visit there, perhaps next time. Thanks for watching.
what did the train trip cost? Looked a great journey/experience
It's £41.40 each return. But it is 2.5 hours each way, and one of the best train journeys in the world!
@@BobEarnshawMoHo thankyou, it certainly looks worthy of the money
No air conditioner or toilet inside coach ?
Er no, think that's because the coaches were designed last century, or was it the one before? There was a very nice station at Caernarvon with all the modern conviences.
What if people want to go to the toilet while traveling on the train ?
And is there a food service place during trip ?
There are stations along the way and yes there was a trolley service, as you might have seen if you watched the video.
Been on it many times. There are toilets. Just ask the staff on the train to direct you.
