Hi, I'm pleased you enjoyed the ride. Beeching didn't get a look in with this one, closed before he got a chance to close it and reopened long after his report on the reshaping of Britain's railways was published.
The Welsh Highland Railway is a bit special, the scenery is beautiful and with the changing seasons and unpredictable weather, no two tips are the same.
I can picture myself lying on a grassy river bank by that beautiful river on a nice day listening to the beautiful sound at the water running over the rocks i would be in the land of nod in 5 min😴😴😴thanks T[m for another great journey cheers Bob.
Hello Robert, I've spent many happy hours with my wife and kids catching tiddlers in the river just as it enters the gorge, on a warm summers day life doesn't get any better 😊.
I have to agree with you, there are few more interesting or scenic railways to be found anywhere, I've loved watching this railway go from an abandoned track bed to a fully functioning railway, a real life story of the phoenix raising from the ashes.
I once made the trip from Rhyd Ddu to Beddgelert during a Superpower event. It was windy, but still more or less dry at Rhyd Ddu, so I chose to enter the "toast rack" car because I like semi-open cars, because it was directly behind the locomotive, and because many seats where empty (I wonder why?). But then it started to rain, and because of the S bends everything inside the carriage became wet, including the benches, so shifting from the wet to the dry side when passing a bend wasn't really solving the problem. I still would make the same decision next time!
@@fritz46 I must visit one of the superpower events, they look like a nice way to spend a day or two. I read your comment and smiled to myself, because I'd have done exactly as you did and like you, knowing there was a good chance of getting a good soaking, I'd still ride in the "toast rack" car 😊.
This excellent video brings back some memories. I traveled on this a few years ago with some friends and managed to film some little snippets here and there but it's nice to see it in it's entirety on this delightful film. Beautiful scenery all the way. It did rain a lot when I was on it though. Thank you for uploading.🙂
Hello Michael, I'm glad this video brought back pleasant memories from your own trip on the Welsh Highland Railway. Wales wouldn't be the beautiful place it is without the rain fall, although to be fair the sun does come out occasionally and when it does there a few better places in the world to be. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
The engine's sound is both loud and distinctive. It's my first time witnessing a steam engine train running at such a high speed. I hope to visit the Welsh Highland to experience this incredibly impressive feat.
The locomotives are as big as a mainline locomotive, yet they runs on rails a little under 2 feet apart. Its well worth doing the whole journey between Caernarfon and Porthmadog to appreciate the ever changing scenery. If you do make it to the railway, I'm sure you'll find it a rewarding experience.
I walked through the tunnel in the early 70's, I remember 1973 well because it was the year I bought my first and only motorbike and you're right it doesn't seem that long ago.
@@peterhunt2723When I was young my father had motorbike and sidecar, he bought his first car, also an old Prefect at about the same time you bought your Ford Prefect, his was black as I believe nearly all Prefects were at the time.
I'm pleased you enjoyed it. The river is full tiddlers, my children used to love catching them, then letting them go again, the river is known for sea trout. What a lovely little run. So pictureseque. You got this at just the right time of year.

The most scenic, picturesque railway anywhere
I have to agree with you, there are few more interesting or scenic railways to be found anywhere, I've loved watching this railway go from an abandoned track bed to a fully functioning railway, a real life story of the phoenix raising from the ashes.
Thank you for this nice video. Nice landscapes. Nice documenting the road number A4085 at 14:14 .
Thank you, I'm pleased you enjoyed the video 😊.
A lovely walk before the track was reopened.
I walked it with my grandfather back in the late sixties, I never dreamt that it might one day be a railway again.
Hi Tim! Wonderful video 👍. I enjoyed this downhill trip with (you know it) a 🍺. Best regards from the rainy Mühlviertel and Cheers 🍻🇦🇹.
Hello Hans, I'm glad you enjoyed the ride and the beer. Cheers. Tim.
Witaj, Tim. Pięknie. Dziękuję. Pozdrawiam.😀
Dziękuję, cieszę się, że film Ci się spodobał. Wszystkiego najlepszego. Tim.
Breathtaking!

It wouldn't be a trip in Wales, unless it rained!
Yes, but look how quickly the weather improved from 40:30 to 40:35 ... ;-)
Wales is like New Zealand, you get all four seasons in one day.
@@fritz46Well spotted, I couldn't be on the train and filming from the roadside, it was the same train filmed on two consecutive days 😉.

I did so in my 2023 summer's holiday, and it was every bit as great as it looks.

Very nice.

very good

I watch this on a third monitor at work
That's what the third monitor is for, I often watch RUclips in the same way 😊.
So is it raining or is the water seen in the video caused by something else?
It was rain on the camera lens.

Need to whistle up at 37:55??
There was a whistle sign for Snowdon Street, but none for the smaller road, fortunately the pickup driver stopped before crossing the track.
