    I’ve always felt that pain we go through are tests that god would put in our paths. Some of them are harder and worse than others, and some of them are more frequent than others but they are just tests. It’s not an easy journey that we go through following god but it’s one with happy ending

    Hey Blue, I've been watching your videos and enjoy your calm thoughtful approach to issues Christians face today. I'm really glad you mentioned how we humans often enact pain and evil upon ourselves. I've been looking at quite a few videos lately about the morality of Christianity and if it's true or not, and opponents often tend to chastise God as some malicious entity without ever mentioning how we humans are so prone to lash out and harm one another on a daily basis. To be honest, when you mention things like Job and how God told him that he can't possibly fathom the extent of the universe and knowledge that God has, one can only wonder how God understands the grand sum of our inequities in today's world.
    I'm also sorry to hear about that bad phase you went through and hope you've come out stronger as a result. Keep up the great work!

    Thats like saying parents are evil because they ground children. This doesnt mean our parents hate us they just want us to learn that we wouldnt get everything we want in life
    People who experience pain know (imo) more about life then those who didnt.

    Interesting. These are some good points. Have a few things that could be said against them though:
    *Pain helps us grow:* I can speak from experiance when I say this is true. Pain many times does make us into better people. However, my question is, why? If God is all good and all powerful, why couldn't They make a way for us to grow and learn without suffering?
    *Free will:* This argument says that a world without evil and pain is a world without free will. And that it's better to suffer and have choices than be free of pain without choices because otherwise we'd just be puppets. I don't have anything to counter that. However, the problem lies in the Christian idea of heaven. Because heaven is supposed to be a place free of pain and evil. But with the criteria of the argument above, that means there are no choices in heaven. And, again, using the logic of this argument, a life with free will, evil and pain is better than a life without them. This would mean that life on Earth is better and more meaningful than life in heaven.
    In the end it's like you said in the beggining, you just kind of have to trust God. And the only explanation for how God can be perfect and still allow pain is that we simply can't comprehend Their ways. My problem with that is, I'm not good at having blind faith. I can't 100% believe in something I can't understand. This is part of the reason why I'm agnostic. I just don't think we have enough information, (and maybe brain power), to know which, (if any), religion is true.
    Anyway, those are my points against what was said in the video, if anyone has any counter arguments for what I said, I'd be happy to hear them out. I love these videos; they really make me think.

    God sounds like a sadist tbh. He ruined Jobs life to prove to Lucifer that even without all of Jobs stuff, he would still be worshipped.
    I do agree that pain helps us learn. It's like burning your hand on the stove. You learned what hot is, and the pain tells you to not do that again.
    I'd also like to point out that "it's for your own good" is a thing abusers say after they beat their wives. "Look at what you made me do!" So, maybe the framing isnt great since it feels like God is an abuser, and you have to worship him or suffer for eternity. Even if you do worship him, he can and will still cause you pain "for your own good", just as my past abuser used to do.

    • @fiji.christianblue
      @fiji.christianblue  3 года назад +3

      Hmmmm.. I'm pretty certain God didn't ruin Job's life just to prove something to Lucifer. That's kind of the reason we're given in the narrative, but I think he did it all so it would end up in the Bible and teach us a lesson. and that lesson being God knows everything, we know hardly anything, so we have to trust him.
      I understand you seeing him as an abuser though. especially with your past, sorry to hear about that by the way. :(
      I guess I just see it as temporary pain. Even the pain that lasts your whole life will end. There's no way Job is still upset about what happened to him! I think that's important to consider.
      Not that it makes the pain any less painful, but It gives hope.

    • @Doomblade3890
      @Doomblade3890 3 года назад +1

      First off, I'm sorry to hear about your past abuser and hope you're able to make a full emotional recovery.
      Regarding your comments about God, we need to keep in mind that sadism means "a person who takes pleasure in inflicting pain, punishment, or humiliation on others". Ezekiel 18:23 (KJV) states "Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?" Later on in this chapter, God states in verse 32 "For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord God: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye." I'd also recommend reading that full chapter, as God talks about those who say his way is unequal (verse 25 " Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?").
      There are a couple of other things to keep in mind. Back in those days, mankind was a bit out of control. If you think God is bad, just look at some of the neighboring kingdoms that Israel and Judah had to contend with. Some of these nations would sacrifice their own children by tossing them into fire as human sacrifices to their idols (among other detestable things), and since God's followers had a bad habit of chasing after those nations' practices, of course God would need to increase the level of punishment to make sure they stay obedient and just. Think about it, when we were children we probably were given minor time-outs if we simply threw a temper tantrum or minor offenses, but if we did more severe actions (like stealing, lying, etc.) our parents increased the level of punishment (spanking, grounding, etc.). Why shouldn't an all-powerful God who knows the full extent of what sin truly means do the same? Yes, smiting people with plagues and death can seem extreme, but back in those days conquest and destruction were the norm for humans to enact on other humans.
      This is another point to keep in mind, that often times we humans lash out and inflict severe pain upon each other. Even in today's world, we often see people lie to, steal, hurt, and even murder each other over the pettiest of things, and for example I've seen some prison sentence hearings where murderers laughed at their life sentences. Just think of how detestable some people must be to think that the bloodshed, pain, and suffering they've caused is nothing more than a menial joke for their own amusement? We see genocides taking place in parts of the globe, tyrants oppressing their people violently, politicians using and manipulating their demographics for their own selfish gains, and that's just to name a few. At some point, we need to take a step back from pointing the finger at God and look at our own collective human race for a moment and wonder "Do we truly deserve a world without pain in our current state? If actions speak louder than words, do the actions of the human race right now say that we want to have world peace?"
      I am in no way trying to accuse you of any of the above things, but rather am trying to put into perspective how we as a global human race need to realize that if we say God is a sadist or a horrible being, we need to wonder if we're any better. Again, I hope you are able to recover from your own pain that someone else decided to inflict upon you and rise above them to not let it keep you down. May God help show us all the true way to peace.

      God doesnt send people to hell, hell isn’t exactly what everyone says it is, when christ was up on the cross you could see what hell was, christ wasnt in hell when he was dead, he was in hell when God forsook him, hell is eternity apart from God, and God doesnt make people suffer that, people choose that

      @medude420024 3 года назад

      @@atsrepairs there is a lot I can say about the subject and its difficult to parse into a single comment, but that was a decent explanation at least! I still don't think I'll ever be able to believe or worship a Christian God. Perhaps it's because I believe the words of god were manipulated by man to benefit themselves, or fabricated by them to do the same. Creation myths are quite interesting though, and as a worldbuilder I do enjoy reading about that kind of stuff, it's just hard to believe any of it. Especially when large groups of people are subjugated, killed, and oppressed in the name of God. Its less about believing in your god, and more of having a distaste for what people have used it for.

  • @theredphoenix5545

    i feel as if "we go through pain to become better in God's eyes" can't universally apply. Some people die young because of the amount of torture, s//xual ass//ult, and pain they were brought through. There is no stronger version of themselves after such pain- they learn nothing and overcome nothing for their lives on earth dont continue. If they wake up in heaven, that's not the reward they have been given for living through so much pain. That may just be the reward for having Christian beliefs.

    • @fiji.christianblue
      @fiji.christianblue  3 года назад +2

      Yes in general pain helps us grow but that definitely doesn't apply to every situation.
      Also I don't claim to know the answer for every pain experienced. I don't know why this world is like it is. I believe the reasons I gave in my video but I don't believe that they are the whole story. There's more to it that I don't know about.

    0} You do not understand so simply trust me. Sounds like something any con-artist would say.
    1)If you are a god and you created people so that they could not understand you, are not you a miserable failure then as a creator? How can you blame them for not understanding you?
    2) So all-knowing, all-powerful creator of the universe could come up with nothing better than teaching us stuff through pain? Sounds convincing.
    3) I am just curious why did you skip the suffering which is not caused by people? Is it because that would mean you will have to hold god accountable?
    4)So all powerful, all knowing creator of the universe could not come up with the idea how his creation can exercise their free will without harming each other?
    5)Is there are free will in heaven then? If there is no free will then people are just puppets there. I thought god do not want puppets.
    But if there is then I suppose after we die, some pastor in heaven will explain to us how did everything had become so screwed once again
