i really enjoyed other pieces of ferrante talking about her writing (in the margins), so i've been meaning to get to frantumaglia too. hard agree on torubling love... not a success for me and i loved how to be both! it's i think how i got into ali smith, and it remains one of my fav books of hers
in the margins is incredible! imo frantumaglia is sufficiently different to feel as though you’re getting a totally new perspective of ferrante’s work i also really enjoyed how to be both! the 1400s plotline just went on a little too long for me but overall it was great 💛

@ i think in my edition of how to be both the painter plotline was the first half, and i think that might be the preferable order
i totally agree! my friend had it that way around (which made for a very confusing buddy read lmao). i’ll definitely swap the order on a reread
