There is nothing more satisfying than watching other people go and splurge on books when I am on a self-imposed book ban because I am fighting for financial responsibility. I am so envious of that book haul.

Start utilizing the local library more and you won't have to worry about paying for books. Plus, I saw the video where you went to your local library. Girl, your library is banging!!!!!
As someone who lives in a country where there’s not a reliable library system or variety in the few libraries that exist, I will never understand why some Americans choose to purchase books when they could just lend them from their local library and save space, money and the planet. I understand if you can’t find the book second hand but even then you can ask a friend for it (if we’re being honest these book tubers have tons of) and helping a trading economy rather than promoting consumerism. If you like it, THEN go ahead and buy it. But then again, one could argue it makes for a good vlog and views- although I personally would be more interested in library content.
@mar.v. I totally get your point but there's something about owning books that gives a high. I personally underline, annotate and draw in my books like a lot !! It's like an obsession! Just like someone owning figurines or game sets or even like clothes !! I don't think there's anything wrong in it !
@@mar.v.I do understand. I try to buy my books from a local used book store or use thrift book which is also gently used. With that being said, some of us fall in love with the book. We want to keep it forever (or at least for now). Its the same reason I can't use a Kindle or audiobook....I need to feel the book in my hand, I need to smell the pages. I make a lot of sacrifices in other areas of my life and I try really hard to do my part for mother earth. Just for an example, I am a recovering alcoholic. I have 6 years and 8 months of continuous sobriety. When I got sober and wasn't spending all of my time at the bar, I needed to find some hobbies. I fell in love with books all over again (of course that fell by the wayside when I was drinking). So, I joined a small bookclub. It makes me happy ❤

Radio Silence is one of my favorite books of all time!! I've read almost everything by Alice Oseman at this point but I still think Radio Silence is her at her best!! I would also like to say, more for myself and others that need to hear it, the book community makes it really easy to make you think that you need to be a book collector, in order to be a reader. But collecting books is expensive and material objects are not worth putting yourself in financially bad spots for. You can read so many great books through free resources and not having to stress about money will always feel better in the long run, that having a book case full of unread books. (I love your bookstore vlogs💕 I just wanted to rationalize this a bit for myself)
