Thanks Shane - I'm attempting to give folks a window into the quality of my paid content ;) I've also got the setup to knock out a lesson like this in a day now, which is nice.
The best drum teacher in this planet. And I am privileged to have had gone through your mentorship and still be able to watch these free mind-blowing lessons. Thank you, Jay
If you like that, you should check out the proper exerices on my website - the full notation is there, you can slow them down right in the website, there's MIDI and a Guitar Pro file... grab a free account here: jaypostones-drumlessons.com/free-lessons/
What an awesome thing you’re doing here Jay. An incredible drummer making himself accessible to drummers looking learn new patterns and systems. Thank you sir.
I always love sticking patterns and how there really isn't a wrong answer in most applications. For that bit at the 11 minute mark, I've always done R on crash and then LRR on the snare and finish with L on snare and R on crash. That's just always felt the most natural for me
AMAZING ! A lesson on ghost notes from the master of using ghost notes. Nocturn is such an iconic groove and a lesson on the perfect application of ghost notes all by itself. Thank you so much for putting this out for free.
I'm always so amazed by your ghost notes... So subtle yet present, and at the same I just wonder how you can stick so many notes into one groove, it feels like you have more than just two arms! Impressive. Would have loved an example of "Cages" by Tesseract.
Great way to play complex polyrhytms just on ghost patters. I've always wondered how you are able to play the cymbal in such strange divisions for guitars with the metronome on 4. when you played drums before euroblast 8, where I had the pleasure of sharing the stage, that thought was already bothering me. Greetings from Poland.😊
Altered State is my favorite album of all time and the only one I've ever attempted (emphasis on attempted!) to learn front to back on drums, so I'm super excited to see content from you on here! What drum set are you using, if you don't mind? I've been looking for something I can play in an apartment that mimics an acoustic set well
Superb Performance Vocals & Drums and Guitar 🎸 congratulations you have achieve one ☝️ of the greatest Prog Rock 🎸 Metal 🤘 albums of all time in my humble opinion greetings from Chile 🇨🇱
It’s a Black Magic 4k with a little Rokinon 20mm pancake lens. The other cameras are Sony A6000. I record straight into OBS so I’m not messing around with a million SD cards and having to sync audio etc
Hey Kris - go check out the proper lesson on my website - the sticking is linked to the notation which is in the exericises, and you can slow it down in the player on the site too. Just grab a free account: jaypostones-drumlessons.com/free-lessons/
The quality of this stuff that you are releasing for free is insane. Thank you so much for these lessons

Thank you 😎 how are you doing dude?
My idol giving amazing lessons.
Jay you're the best! I am trying to breakout into some complexities in my drumming with me band and your lessons are just what I need! 💯
Thanks for these lessons Jay!! Im on a tight budget so these are nice
Glad you like them!
thanks. this lesson was so helpful i want to call you my dad
Love how you have the multiple angles on the vid. Perfect to help understand. Thanks, brother.

@@JayTesseracT JP, I tried 3 times to create a basic account and the 'Submit' button would light up when pressed, but nothing happens.
Damn Jay, I just found these free vids yesterday. Already cutting into your djent lesson... talk about a way to get out of your comfort zone!
Great information, even for those of us who program the drums. I'm always looking to make the programmed drum performance more human. Thanks!!

Thats what i expected sir🔥🔥🔥🔥

As opposed to Jay doing the inverse sticking in that example
So helpful, thank you!
What kit/sounds are you using on your TD50?
hi i like your lessons, great stuff. i would like to know which drum sound you use its sounds great

My pleasure. Thanks for the kind words
Master of ghost notes is yussef dayes…
Still good vid
Thanks for this Jay!
These lessons are awesome. Keep it going! Super stoked for the odd timing lesson.
these video lessons are amazing since I don't play drums but this has helped me so much to develop programmed drums or even my bass patterns

Jay, is there somewhere you have your drum sample sounds/setup/preset we can see. I assume you’re using Superior Drummer or something similar?
I use SD3 and the Modern Metal EZX - the dense and deep kit. I have a couple of other samples imported from other libraries but that’s 99%
@@JayTesseracT oh sick! Thank you, I use EZDrummer for my kit, just for the convenience. I’ll check if that pack works with EZ as well.

It's a Roland TD50kv - the best investment I've made for drumming in recent years. I play this thing more than I've played any kit.
What kit are you using? It looks to be an extended/modified version of an existing model.
It’s a Roland TD50kv with a handful of extra pads. The sounds are Toontrack SD3

your audio and visuals are awesome! i very much appreciate the reply. thank you!!
Mostly impressed with how those pads can be that sensitive. 😁
They're very customizable - the snare, toms and kick especially are very close to an acoustic kit
Can you write the sticking in the video lol. Still replaying the video trying to hear what you say.
Yeah even in slow motion I have no clue what youre saying lol. Please put the sticking in the video.
