Ive been drumming for about 10 years and about a month ago I determined this song was going to be the perfect one to push me up to the next level. Thank you so much for this breakdown.
I'm a mediocre drummer and trying to nail Deftones' Rickets down for a couple of weeks now, focused on that one song 20mins/day. I still haven't nailed it, but I don't even wanna go near a Meshuggah song with a 10 foot pole. Somehow this makes it seem achievable for me but still very intimidating. Grooves like this that take a few bars to get back to the 1 is scary to me but sounds so cool! Keep doing this Jay! I love this stuff. I'm a huge fan
wanna know my hack for this stuff? just play the hats in patterns, 1 hit slightly to the left, the next hit slightly to the right, next again to the left etc. now hit the snare simultaneously on the third hit and just remember which side of the hat it was on. now remember the motion and you can basically have hats and snare on autpilot. now you only need to focus on the feet. this approach makes it about 50% easier to play this stuff
Nice! Thanks for the lesson! I go to Guitar center and drum to either Tool, Tesseract or Meshuggah every week and honestly it's improving my singing ability in Learn To Swim (Austin Tool Tribute) so thank you so much for this breakdown!
Love this little lessons. Thank you.
One of the best albums, not wrong.

Hi Jay. This is Andy, a former student of yours. Awesome lesson as usual!
Andy! How are you doing dude!! Glad you enjoyed the lesson - I'm working on making this a weekly thing. Got the next two lessons in the bag already ;)
@@JayTesseracT sweet man! I'm gonna practice this one. Keep up the good work.
Love me some Jay Postpones aka Jay Tesseract
Thanks you for lesson ❤️
Hello Jay, I usually practice similar things sporadically, although I'm missing a lot. Don't stop uploading videos. Greetings from Argentina.
This is so fascinating and useful to understand the mechanics, and a little insight to your brain
Thanks for this, Jay
I'm not a drummer but this stuff is awesome. Thank you!
I thank you for this as a guitarist 🤟

Hi Jay, which Will pPutney ezx modern metal kit do you use please ? And if its ok to ask. what is your stack made up of?
Deep and dense - or something along those lines. Stack on the e-kit / I can’t remember! Something from one of the other libraries tho
