- Today we are taking a very in-depth look at the 2023 Dodge Durango Police cars. I thought it would be cool to see what kind of features and performance the various police packages offered over and above the regular civilian versions. Watch along as we go over everything possible, starting with the performance, features, which states use the Durangos, prices and specs, and a performance comparison with other cop cars!

Durangos are definitely coming up. I’ve lived in a handful of states and have been seeing them more and more.
I’m seeing a lot of departments buying Durangos now
Ford canceled a lot of orders during the pandemic so a lot of agencies had no choice.
Ya cause ford is being douches and not giving depts their orders. We got 50 Durangos and I've never heard anything good about them. So I guess we will see how they do.
They don’t have much of choice anymore
My favorite new feature is the oil cooler leaks and engines exploding being broke down for 4-8 weeks for repairs.
EXACTLY!
The Durango is a closer competitor to the Tahoe than the Explorer. They're both categorized as 3 row full-size SUVs, while the Explorer has always been a 2 row mid-size SUV. That's why the Durango is so heavy and doesn't have the performance of the Explorer.
The Tahoe PPV out-sells the Durango PPV due to pricing and affordability, even though the Durango 5.7 PPV has better performance than the Tahoes.
Love it
Seems like there's a reason I've literally never seen one of these on the road here in Milwaukee. At least the Troopers use chargers left and right. 🤷♂
Yeah it’s the most expensive and not really the best at anything. It’s big but Tahoe or pickups are bigger. May as well get the cheaper chargers with the same engines!
Well here in Waycross we got about 5 Durango Pursuits one marked with the SXT wheels, about 3 marked with the regular cop wheels and one unmarked with the SXT wheels oh and I seen the Challenger Hellcat in Georgia State Patrol guise one day last week
@@CarringtonHollister guess there's some Mopar fans disregarding the numeral advantages for style lol
Ontario Canada has them. Street package rims with full decals 😂
@@MarspeedCars What is Chrysler going to offer to Law Enforcement starting in 2024? The ICE Charger Pursuit will be gone after this year as will the Durango Pursuit. A Jeep Cherokee L Pursuit maybe? RAM 1500?
I must be doing better in life as I have not seen the inside of these units yet lol I found out about the new explorer twin turbo almost the same day they were issued to the troopers ,
My local police department is slowly replacing there Ford interceptor with these Durangos
Saw one at the dealership for 48k. Was like damnnnn
Since when do LAPD and LASD use the Durango? 6:46
They use them for Metro and SEB units.
Add Tennessee to the list of states switching to Durangos.

And PR
( Puerto Rico )
Some departments in OR are buying durangos for their fleets
Imagine if they have trackhanwks or teslas
Its features are well designed for its uses, but the shortfalls in comparative performance and sales are products of Dodge being without a body-on-frame RWD/AWD large SUV, which is what cops want. Perhaps this will change with the advent of a Dodge cousin of the Jeep Wagoneer that can be policified to go up against the more popular Ford and Chevrolet offerings.
At one time Durango's were built on a Dakota truck frame. You sure these are not body on frame? Maybe you are thinking of the Journey which was unibody.
@@scrambler69-xk3kv You are correct about what used to be, but the current (and soon outgoing) generation of the Durango is a stretched (three-row) last-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee under the sheet metal, and all Grand Cherokees that ever were have been un.
Cool 🥰
You took the video from Guardian Fleet Safety
Durangos are the creme puff of campus securities.
Forgot New Mexico they use them lol
Nice a beefy for those pit maneuver's.
It’s not going to catch a 700 horsepower hellcat
The radio will stand in no problem.
it aint the car is the driver
Well there is a Hellcat version of the Durango on the way
2800 for a v8 upgrade you would have to be stupid to not do that
😁😁😁
WISH THEY WOULD TALK ABOUT THE PPV TAHOE.. IT DESTROYS THE DURANGO 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
Lmao i saw ur car at dollerama
Yeah I am just leaving the store lol
I saw u

I've heard they're like boat anchors getting up to speed, but the extra mass will help pitt just about anything. I've seen alot of promising results from the tesla models 3's that were converted over to law enforcement. They have a really lower center of gravity, they handle very well and it's got the acceleration of Porsche 911 Turbo S (992). The very key difference is it's mass is incredible. I'd argue this car is unpitable, the advanced driver assist rights the vehicle almost every time. And it's center of mass makes it impossible to flip over. Literally impossible. There's an example of an officer on a chase with one on the internet. The guy literally could not get away, he was on his ass the whole time.
That’s cool
I've never heard anything good about the Durango either
😂😂😂
The durango is just not as good when compared to a tahoe and explorer. It's in between which isn't really helpful as a police car, want the one big body on frame and a quick regular suv not a heavy underpowered regular suv.
Too late to the game. All I see are the Ford Explorers, our local cops just went from the Charger to the Fords. Besides there is a feeling Dodge will soon be abandoned by their French masters.

First
In the groups that I manage the person who consistently puts down “first” as their comment gets suspended from the group for 30 days. Thereafter, he/she is subject to immediate expulsion if even one instance happens. Jus’ sayin’!!
Sounds like Dodge fell short!! Back to the drawing board!!
Yeah seems like they have been maintaining the status quo while the other companies are improving. Hopefully we will see the next gen Durango by 2024 or 2025 at the latest which will be modernized and updated and hopefully more powerful!
