  • Join us on AzizDrives for an extraordinary journey as we put the legendary BMW M6 V10 to the ultimate fuel economy test. Known for its voracious appetite for fuel, we embark on a mission to defy expectations and achieve the unthinkable: maintaining fuel consumption under 10L/100km. This challenge is not just about proving a point; it’s a battle against the odds, showcasing that with the right techniques, even the most powerful beasts can be tamed for efficiency.
The Ultimate Test: Our adventure begins with a detailed look at the BMW M6 V10’s heart - the S85 engine, a masterpiece of engineering. Despite its reputation for high fuel consumption, we’re determined to unlock its potential for efficiency. Our test spans approximately 100 kilometers, incorporating real-world driving conditions to ensure authenticity and relatability.
Strategies for Success: From meticulously filling up the tank with the optimal fuel to adjusting tire pressures for reduced rolling resistance, every detail is considered. Our driving strategy focuses on manual shifting at low RPMs, maintaining a steady speed, and leveraging slipstreaming when possible, all while keeping the creature comforts like climate control active for a genuine driving experience.
Real-Life Challenges: The journey is filled with the realities of everyday driving, from traffic jams that test our patience (and fuel efficiency) to the strategic navigation of speed limits. This test is more than just numbers; it’s about demonstrating that mindful driving can significantly impact fuel consumption, even in a high-performance vehicle like the BMW M6 V10.
Unexpected Results: As we conclude our test, the anticipation builds. Will our efforts pay off? Can a car known for its power and performance also excel in fuel efficiency under the right conditions? The final moments at the petrol station reveal a surprising outcome, challenging preconceived notions about fuel economy in performance cars.
A Lesson Learned: This experiment goes beyond just a fuel economy test; it’s a testament to the idea that the driver plays a crucial role in a car’s efficiency. It’s a blend of skill, patience, and technique that can make even a V10-powered sports car more economical than expected.

I got a 335d, 363 hp and 721 nm, ppl don't believe when I tell em that it only eats 5.5-6 l/ 100 km, I once drove from Romania to Italy and at the gas station I calculated 5.3 l / 100 km, 130-140 km/h all the way to Italy. If you baby even big engines they won't eat up fuel that fast.

@@MrToastyman900 You're right but that car shouldn't be on the road anymore. The DPF and EGR are designed to keep all that NOx particles away from humans lungs. Major cities in EU suffer from that issues(huge NOx emissions).
Why don't you buy a gasoline engine instead and forget about all of these problems? If you can't afford a diesel, don't buy one. My father has a 315.000km Skoda Octavia 2 2.0 TDI Euro5 and the DPF is still running and the EGR had to be changed with a new one and the car still runs very well.
