    Les Paul house should be turned in a museum, or maybe his gear should go to the Smithsonian, its shame see it all split up, he was such an important Icon of American
    culture.

    Hey Norm, great job with the presentation. I met Les Paul back in 1998 at the Iridium Club in Manhattan. Hubert Sumlin just happened to be in the audience as well. Yes! A picture, and a signed t-shirt. Les Paul, a great guy and visionary!

    His house and home on Dearfield Road in Mahwah, should have been made a museum and National Historic Site. Dispersing all this gear is criminal. Legit, but still criminal in the moral sense. The vultures have only the vaguest clue.

      Agree with this opinion 100% why wasnt his house made into historical site, it was where he patented the most important innovations in music history, someone paid money to executor of his estate to do this shameful event monetizing history every musician knows what Lester Pollfus a.k.a Les Paul gave to the industry. It is a crime that this history in Mahwah. N.J. should have been preserved for what it is .

    These things should not be divided, they should be in a museum. I understand this is part of someone's estate, but these things have a historical importance that dwindles as the collection is cannibalized

      The Fender and Gibson companies are competitors. But it's nice to know that the individual men Leo Fender and Les Paul were both music lovers and technical innovators, who could take some time to admire the other guy's achievements and the new tones they had each worked to create.

      callyharley . Thanx, just checked them out. I like that they still use a mahogany Neck.
      I see Gibson made some rare maple fretted LPs in '78-'79.

    • @GrooveDuude
      @GrooveDuude 7 лет назад

      callyharley . Agreed! Maple looks better on white or natural. No gloss? Definitely changes the sound capabilities. And different is always rare when vintage applies. I have an old Ibanez 2398 Custom-natural with flamed maple top (without Logo) catalog model or? Gloss maple neck and fretboard. It is capable of more telecaster like tones when I split coil. Definitely brighter in tone and resonance than my Gibsons. The neck is responsible for much of the tone as well as most of the playability IMO.

    • @GrooveDuude
      @GrooveDuude 7 лет назад

      I do remember Gibson had to use "baked" maple instead of rosewood due to an import issue.

    The only thing I don't like about the Les Paul guitar is they are very badly balanced. You can't sit and play them like a regular guitar, they are way to butt heavy. You have to either play them like Les does, between your knees or standing up with a very wide guitar strap.
