Gary Moore( also in my opinion ) is the greatest and most talented guitarist of all time and especially as a blues guitarist. I'm sure you've seen some of his blues concerts on RUclips, the way he bends them strings and never misses a beat not to mention his speed and clarity are flawless. Their will never be another guitarist as skilled as Gary Moore their maybe are some that are close but if you really understand his skills then you would think the same. I know that all great guitarist are really skilled in there own way and saying one is greater then the other is kinda B S but in my opinion Gary Moore is the pick for me.
I would swear Gary is in that room watching. What a special man, what a gut wrenching day it was to hear of his passing. He will always be alive in his music and his peers respect.Such a rare individual.Vale Gary
Never seen thin lizzy live, but that live and dangerous double lp is one of the best live recordings and got me to search beyond jailbreak, Chinatown, vagabonds, fighting, black rose ,they have an extensive library of great songs that never got airplay on mainstream fm.radio.John Sykes and Brian Robertson also great players.
Gary plays amazing in that interview and It would be unbelievable if you could please upload the entire unedited interview. I'd be very appreciative of your efforts and so would countless others. Many thanks.
The two guitarist that inspire me to keep playing at 62 years old after 50 years as a musician ,Gary Moore and Steve Howe. In my opinion two of the greatest Artist to live. Both with different styles and feeling ,while both very much dedicated and amazing.
My heart still aches to think of him being gone. Gary and SRV are my all time favorite guitarists. They both left us way too soon. RIP Gary. Love ya Bro.
Huge THANKS for bringing us this wonderful tribute to the wonderful Gary Moore. It was a total priviledge to watch this genuinely warm, affectionate and knowledgable play through with Neville, I can only begin to imagine how it must have felt to actually hold and play these pieces of musical history. Thanks for the music Gary and thanks for the insight Neville and Guitarist :))
thankyou so much for that guys for a few moments it was like gary hadnt gone....he left a huge legacy and a hole that wont ever be filled he was a giant RIP GARY x
Simply amazing! Thanks for sharing. He was the best and my (and many others) favorite. I still think the One Night in Dublin DVD is Gary at his finest!
Gary knew how to pick em that's for sure. Absolutely wonderful tone. I like how he took off his pick guard and the signs of wear on most of his guitars. Every guitarist in the world went up in the world when Mr Moore passed on that's for sure. Amazing heartfelt player.
Still Got the Blues...Gary Moore was the best and always will be the best guitarist ever. I don't think there's any question or debate. (just listen to that guitar! Amazing unique sound--my favorite)
+urilacambrafrias Yes, they did collector choice #1 which is the first guitar in this demo. I am talking about about the second les paul, the one that doesn´t have pickup covers. That guitar is called "stripe" and was Gary´s number one
+Felipe Vega Which, in fact, is the same axe. Thd one Greeny gave Gary at the beggining of his career, the one that he recorded almost all his records. Pickups are out of phase 'causeGreeny put them that way, and the cover was removed by Gary at some point. #1 is a copy of that one but with covers just like in the front cover of Stoll got the blues. Cheers!
+urilacambrafrias Gary had 2 bursts. You are talking about the Peter Green/Gary Moore guitar. And yes gibson made a reissue of that guitar. Back in the 80´s, Gary had a car accident and carried the guitar with him the neck was broken, Gary got another 59 les paul "stripe" and that guitar stayed with him until he passed away.
“I won’t play still got the blues” still plays in the key and hints at moments... ;) I love this video and all of the respect that Gary Moore deserves!
I would have gladly lost my job at the chance to jam with Gary Moore. Must be hard to think back and have missed that opportunity :( Great video none the less brotha!!
What a great video, those guitars looked so cool. I hope Gary's son has been able to find and reacquire most of his dad's guitars. It's a shame that Gary had to sell Pete Green's '59. Well, hopefully, one day Gary's son will have that back also but that's going to be a stretch considering the money involved. Fantastic video, RIP Gary Moore!
So cool, I have a 94 Les paul jr. with a single P90, pretty close to the one in this video. I converted nut to lefty. I paid 400$, I think its worth 350$ today, the guitar is an absolute gem, played daily. Not for sale at any price. Gary is one of the best, Fleetwood , Santana, great riffs, solos rhythm, you name it.
wow, that first guitar DOES sound INCREDIBLE. Perfect. And that guy could play it correctly, the way that type of guitar should be played, and with the correct sound. It was all correct. WOW. What a clear open big tone.
Having been in the sporting world for years, it's so cool that everyone in the guitar scene is so friendly & non competitive, the shared joy of simply playing really stands out, & I'm sure it's healthier than constant competitiveness.
That original '59 is just spectacular. The wear on it is as honest as you can get. Do you realize how much playing you would have to do to wear away the finish on the body with just your fingertips resting on it? How long it would take to get all the finish off the neck? Like Martin stated, a few million notes flowed out of Gary in through that guitar. I would wager it would fetch as much as Bernie's '59 (The Beast) or maybe more
Man , it breaks my heart , he’s really gone , I could have seen him back in the day , this was not with “thin lizzy” but he was out on his name , and I was doing something that I couldn’t miss ,but later heard him , and was truly sorry , I missed him . He was without a doubt , one of the most expressive guitarist , that I never saw , and I was deeply saddened by his untimely death ! What I felt most was that he left way too soon , because ,he had issues with drugs and booze , that’s killed a lot of my close friends too . I miss his playing though ! There will probably never , be another !
this guy is like in total guitar heaven and who wouldnt be holding iconic guitars that were owned and played by arguably the greatest blues/rock guitarist who ever lived ive watched this a few times i bet he wished he'd said fuck work and jammed with gary what a memory that would have been.
Hello there.Brings back memories as I worked with and for Gary for a few years prior to his Blues Success.I remember well the Les Paul accident because I was driving the car en route to a little Studio in Harmonsworth where the demo for ''Out In The Fields'' was recorded. We were stationary at Chiswick traffic lights in monsoon conditions when a fortunately unloaded brick lorry skidded into the back of the car and pushed us under the back of another lorry ahead of us.The treasured Peter Green Les Paul neck was beautifully repaired by CHANDLER guitars. In truth there is quite a story behind this guitar and how Gary came to ''have'' it.There was also a wonderful sounding original late 50's early 60's ex Tommy Steele's guitarist salmon pink Stratocaster which I procured originally for Greg Lake which Gary ended up with.We had local radio coming through the amps in USA so maybe this is the one which was stripped.I also procured a Les Paul Junior which was ex Titch from Dave Dee,Dozy,Mick days.Gary was an absolutely gifted amazing player which goes without saying.Sadly missed. JP
+Neville Marten Hello Neville. There were two pink strats as I procured two for Greg.Gary had the first one and just unable to recall where I found the other one which Greg kept and used during his solo projects. This all happened in the early 80's.My friendship with Gary followed an overdub session he did in Abbey Road using the infamous Peter Green Les Paul.Let's just say he totally nailed it and all present. This prompted his eventual release from a contract with one Mr Arden.
+Shotaway Films Ha ha. Oh yes... the infamous DA. It did a bit of work on Greg's pink one in about 82 I'd guess; and a J-200 that had a jack socket installed in the side and had split because whoever did it didn't add any support. We had to do a quick bodge job just to get it back to him that night. But Gary's pink one was amazing, and is currently in Fender's Custom Shop where they are copying it for a special reissue...
+Neville Marten Good to hear the fender is still alive and well. Not sure how old it actually is.When I found it there were finger nail grooves in the fretboard and the frets were well worn from constant rhythm playing I guess.Think a guy name of Terry Haselden who then had a local guitar shop in Dorset fixed it up for Gary. Terry also arranged a sponsorship deal with Dean Markley strings back then.Seems like yesterday but of course over 30 years have passed.Gary used the pink fender a lot in the studio sessions and some live shows during early days of his solo career.
Huge respect on not playing Still got the blues, on Still got the blues guitar, from my side... That should rest in peace, as it is.... Once again, huge respect on your restraining of playing that...
WHAT! Garry asked if you wanted to jam with him but you would be late for work? I would have taken the hole day off!!!! One of the worlds greatest guitarist of all time and you said no??? CRAZY! However I did enjoy the video, thanks!
+ezerlab1 Yes, thats the collectors choice #1. Gary had to sell the original because of financial problems. I own a cc#1..it is the best les paul I ever played, but it never sounds like a real '59.
I went to Chris Kinman's "factory" at Moorooka in 2002 and had some Hank Marvin AVn pickups installed in my Kinman Blueprint Strat. John, who did the work for me, said that he filled orders in his first week there for Jeff Beck, Dave Gilmour and Gary Moore. Perhaps he actually wound those pickups in the refinished Strat! Does that make me famous too? I guess not...
2:09 Ahh yes, the infamous "Stripe". First owned by Ronnie Montrose and used on Edgar Winter's "They Only Come Out at Night" album before it got stolen. Resurfaced in the late 80s when it was sold to Gary Moore, who had it till his dying day
Dude ! If Gary Moore tells you to play his 59 and jamm with him you show up late to work and if your boss or someone barks at you you just tell him : ' fuck off '.
Not really,Gary used many different guitars over his career. He played custom shop Hamer Specials,ESP ''Snappers'',custom shop Charvel San Dimas,Jacksons(Soloists and San Dimas),PRS(he was one of the first famous players to use their guitars) and various models of Gibson and Fender, including Flying V's,Explorers,ES,Teles(normal and Thinline).
Awesome and only disappointed I didn't see the Gibson Les Paul that Ashley Pangborn of Gibson Hamburg built for Gary around 1992. I remember Ashley showing me it after just applying the final touches and asked me what I thought so I actually got to play it first :o)
Gary I notice started play blues music when Stevie ray v passed Gary played some fast rock I seen Gary in 84 he had the best band members in the world Glenn Hughes for bass back up vocals cozy Powell drums and he had a another drummer that played with white snake and Ozzie y and I forgot as far blues music I don't think about him as a blues player I thought no Eddie Van Halen eruption was a sort riffs from end of the world song and nuclear attack
As someone has already commented, the original Peter green/Gary Moore les Paul was up for sale on a website called Maverick music for $2 million. Kirk Hammett of Metallica eventually bought it, probably for around $500k.
+Tim Stevens Not doubting your source but what is the source out of interest? Kirk Hammett was clear than the original price was extortionately high so surprised me.
Wikichris is right. I met the guy who bought it from Gary at the guitar convention in Philly he had the guitar there and I even touched it when he wasn't looking. Sorry. I had to.
In my opinion, Gary was the greatest guitarist we've ever seen. He could do it all. RIP, Gary!
He really was the best.
He surely was awesome
That riff for still got the blues 😱
🤣😂
Totally agree 💯
Gary Moore, ( in my opinion) was the Absolute Best Guitar player of All time.....You felt every Note....May he Rest In Peace....
You're absolutely right!!!
agree
Gary Moore( also in my opinion ) is the greatest and most talented guitarist of all time and especially as a blues guitarist. How fucking dare you, sir! I like another guitar player more and I AM RIGHT!
LOL
What a treat. Gary was an absolute master and a legend!
I would swear Gary is in that room watching. What a special man, what a gut wrenching day it was to hear of his passing. He will always be alive in his music and his peers respect.Such a rare individual.Vale Gary
If Gary Moore asks you for a jam and you have to go to work, you call on sick!
I know right
exactly
I"m very very sick!!! jeje
massive mistake
Thanks for posting . We miss Gary very much . You don't know what you've got till it's gone !
Gary Moore was a legend of a player.
The Still Got The Blues Les Paul is probably the coolest looking Les Paul ever.
Thank you Mister! I can feel the Love for Garys Guitars and the friendship that you had with him! Take care rm
The best guitarist of my era that is for damn sure. Saw him with Thin Lizzy, in NYC, Holy crap, what a show. The best show I ever saw.
tribute to Gary Moore!! Lp sound ruclips.net/video/WgbFKGNfYR0/видео.html
He was amazing, but i cant choose beetween Gary or SRV
Never seen thin lizzy live, but that live and dangerous double lp is one of the best live recordings and got me to search beyond jailbreak, Chinatown, vagabonds, fighting, black rose ,they have an extensive library of great songs that never got airplay on mainstream fm.radio.John Sykes and Brian Robertson also great players.

Yes. My favorite video as I said and I bet there's more of it.
It’s good to have Nev doing this, nobody knows more about this genre than him.
The two guitarist that inspire me to keep playing at 62 years old after 50 years as a musician ,Gary Moore and Steve Howe. In my opinion two of the greatest Artist to live. Both with different styles and feeling ,while both very much dedicated and amazing.
Thank you for sharing these amazing guitars with us. We all miss Gary!!
My heart still aches to think of him being gone. Gary and SRV are my all time favorite guitarists. They both left us way too soon. RIP Gary. Love ya Bro.
Both bathed in lightening
Huge THANKS for bringing us this wonderful tribute to the wonderful Gary Moore. Gary Moore was unique in the world of guitarists he was a perfect player ,blues jazz ,rock he had it all
Ah man....Im getting goose bumps seeing Ol'stripe even on video. My all time fave guitar. WOW. It's an absolute animal. Ive still got the blues.
thankyou so much for that guys for a few moments it was like gary hadnt gone....he left a huge legacy and a hole that wont ever be filled he was a giant RIP GARY x
It's still got the old tagger on. Can't I look at it? No, no you've seen enough of that one! Seriously though, great upload. Gary was the best.
Simply amazing! Thanks for sharing. He was the best and my (and many others) favorite. I still think the One Night in Dublin DVD is Gary at his finest!

Thanks for posting. Very interesting review of Gary's instruments. We miss him.
Can you imagine the feeling of playing in BBM, after as a youngster watching Cream. You couldn’t write it, RIP Gary Moore.
Still Got the Blues...Gary Moore was the best and always will be the best guitarist ever. I don't think there's any question or debate. (just listen to that guitar! Amazing unique sound--my favorite)
The brief strumming on the Firebird sounds awesome, even though it couldn't be played.
Hard to watch without Gary holding them always be sadly missed a real rare performer.
Absolutely one of my favorite
Guitar players. Since I saw him before Thin Lizzy I can’t figure out his patterns
"Gary is still the man always and forever"
What a beautiful tribute to Gary. Very interesting piece about real music
Yesss!..finally!...but i was hoping for some more playing..?....ohwell its so nice to see them in HD and hear just a few notes!..Thanks Neville! 👏🏻🌟
Gibson should make a collector´s choice version of the still got the blues les paul. That guitar is amazing
They did. It was Number one of them.
+urilacambrafrias Yes, they did collector choice #1 which is the first guitar in this demo. I am talking about about the second les paul, the one that doesn´t have pickup covers. That guitar is called "stripe" and was Gary´s number one

“I won’t play still got the blues” still plays in the key and hints at moments... ;) I love this video and all of the respect that Gary Moore deserves!
perfect choice to have you to caretake this incredibly important piece of history. brilliant.
I would have gladly lost my job at the chance to jam with Gary Moore. Must be hard to think back and have missed that opportunity :( Great video none the less brotha!!
Fantastic insight into some of Gary's guitars. Nice one Nev!
Nicely done, and with great deference.....
Thanks for this lovely video, with so much respect for Gary and his guitars.

Despite it being the brand name of the bridge, there is just something funny about such a proper man saying "Badass" style tuning bridge haha. 6:19
I fell in love with the original 1959
Looks and sounds amazing
(Still got the blues les paul
Having been in the sporting world for years, it's so cool that everyone in the guitar scene is so friendly & non competitive, the shared joy of simply playing really stands out, & I'm sure it's healthier than constant competitiveness.
Music is about sharing, collaborating and enjoying. It’s in my opinion the most positive form of human cultural communication.
@@fretboardmaster70 however most music listeners still treat music in a competitive sporting manner.
Awesome that Gary used a 59 Les Paul as an instrument rather than a museum piece.
There are loads of incredible guitarist, but after listening to most, there are non that have the emotional effect on me like Gary
That original '59 is just spectacular. The wear on it is as honest as you can get. The wear comes mostly from the pick.

the '59 really does sound absolutely amazing
Great people like that are never really gone☀️
Gary moore greatly missed and what a guitarist lived his blues
The Still Got The Blues Les Paul is a true gem. But the Firebird is lovely too.

+Shotaway Films Lovely story. They still have the pink Strat which, very weirdly, I worked on when Greg owned it.

Huge respect on not playing Still got the blues, on Still got the blues guitar, from my side... That should rest in peace, as it is....
Once again, huge respect on your restraining of playing that...
While the Peter Green LP is amazing I’m kind of shocked the Gibson Custom Shop never did a version of the 2nd LP in this video.
WHAT! Garry asked if you wanted to jam with him but you would be late for work? I would have taken the hole day off!!!! One of the worlds greatest guitarist of all time and you said no??? CRAZY! However I did enjoy the video, thanks!
Thank’s man. Hopefully I will be weaving in and out of your musical catalog. Til the day I die. 🙏✌️
Great demo', fantastic playing, and some superb tones. I don't know if my ears are shot, but they did all sound very similar.
the original of the first guitar is owned by Kirk Hammett , right?
+Tarek Mustafa yeah the Greeny/Moore Les paul was bought by him. He tours with it too!
Nice 1👍 didn't know that
+Barracuda007 blasphemy
+Tarek Mustafa replicas of the moore/green les paul is out there officially??
I had no idea about it.
Gary Moore is a big influence on me when it comes to Guitar. I'm left handed as well .
Do you play right handed?
you're the best guitar reviewer all time dude!!!!!! only perfect tones and microfonation.
2:09 Ahh yes, the infamous "Stripe". First owned by Ronnie Montrose and used on Edgar Winter's "They Only Come Out at Night" album before it got stolen. Resurfaced in the late 80s when it was sold to Gary Moore, who had it till his dying day
me encantó esta introduccion exelente, memorias de un gran guitarrista tocado por el talento.
Hey Neville, I`m reading now star guitars again. It was one of my first books about guitars. It`s a good book, well done.
Dude ! If Gary Moore tells you to play his 59 and jamm with him you show up late to work and if your boss or someone barks at you you just tell him : ' fuck off '.
I can believe how little these guitars sold for considering their history and ownership by one of the greatest players ever!
Guery Moore, era um excelente guitarrista e não só... Tinha também o dom de cantar, o melhor dos melhores. Descansa em paz guery 🙏❤️
Seeing dimarzio clip locks on a original 59 is wild, but I love it and Stripe is such a great Les Paul
You sell those gems... you'd be set for life
What can you say about gary one of the best saw many times got some of the best sounds around from a les paul rip gaz 👍
You forgot to feature his 80's Charvel guitars... Originally he was Rock/Heavy Metal player
I think Gary got rid of those years ago.
And he stuck to LPs and strats for most of his career.
IC BM he started as a blues kid, not rock
yes that is right but that was in the rock days they charvels where long gone begous of his blues thing
gary moore and david gilmore were great friend and both great players
Man, when I saw that '59 LesPaul it was hard to hold back the tears
Awesome and only disappointed I didn't see the Gibson Les Paul that Ashley Pangborn of Gibson Hamburg built for Gary around 1992. I remember Ashley showing me it after just applying the final touches and asked me what I thought so I actually got to play it first :o)
I never noticed that stripe had the neck pickup reversed. Awesome video
This Doublecut cherry junior is an absolute beast!
its nice to see a used Gibson les paul! so many of them end up sitting in their cases.
forget Bonamassa, Clapton and many others, indeed he was and he is the best Rock-Blues guitarrist of all times
Thank You for sharing this with all of us, so interesting.
wow, that jr sounds amazing.
That junior I’m sure he played “the end of the world “ on that when he was gigging with Neil carter.
Very cool and respectful video. Thanks for doing it.
As someone has already commented, the original Peter green/Gary Moore les Paul was up for sale on a website called Maverick music for $2 million. Kirk Hammett of Metallica eventually bought it, probably for around $500k.
Apparently, he paid "between $1 and 2 million" for it.
Sorry. I had to.
It was insured for 2 million but he wouldn't say what he paid for it. Not that I would ask.I'm not sure Gary got 2 million though.
steviie rose spankllng
what a guitar!! legend!!!
I remember my friends dad screaming Parisian walkways out of an amazing 70s gold top
Which one is the one that was originally Ronnie Montrose's? The one that was stolen and ended up with Gary...
Garry. Moore. Was. The best ever respect
the light section of wood is the sapwood of the tree! the part of the tree closer to the bark.
mark 123 I was just about to comment the same!
Thank you so much for putting up this video.
Nice on. Bless em both. Sound lads. I love it. This is what its all about.XX
Mr Gary Moore sure was something else, that's for sure.
They need to make "Stripe" the still got the blues 59 les paul a collectors choice, its my favourite guitar of all time
If my memory serves me correct Gary's other Les Paul he nick named '"Stripe" was the guitar used when Still got the blues was recorded not the Greeny.
Your correct. It wasn't the greeny, it was the other one... (I think)
For me one of the most important video in my life - I´m on my knees...
Kirk Hammett from METALLICA now owns 'Greeny' and plays it live.
Ima bet Joe Bonamassa is here commenting under a different name/handle
Ken T He smelled that '59 in his sleep lol!
Quin sullivan
Who’s Ima?
LoL
Joe who? Meh
