swayback also has s and cancels attacks when you use it, it's so great. once I realised how good it was, I've never taken it off my command bars alongside mighty strikes (which is just too good to ever not use). huge fan of lancet & mp regen too.
I didn't know about the separate break gauges! That's super helpful. I need to get better with my parry timing. I have good reaction time but always get distracted hack and slashing in games like these 😂
I forgot how to block after the tutorial. I only thought to soul shield spells or abilities. I use Chakra to remove status effects. I was using life steal and venom then lancet. Nothing else really. I need to try the counter/swayback abilities. The brake gauge was ruining the game for my wife and I because we'd constantly get broken in 1 hit then pinned down and crushed. Lots of yelling and rage quitting from both of us, but we finally beat the Garland/Astos/Chaos together. Is there anything else in the game after that? We are definitely not "souls" games players, so I hope we don't have to play on Chaos difficulty.
OMG! Thank you for this guide! I’m stuck at the Tiamat boss fight and noticed Soul Shield helps a LOT! But I had no idea having Jack enter “Broken” state lowered your max MP! I kept wondering why my MP bars would disappear! Is this temporary? If not, how long does it last?
4 minutes in with the subject of the video barely mentioned. Great enthusiasm, great job on the narration, great information. But I was pretty close to just clicking off the video.
How do you parry with soul shield? Do you press and hold the button and wait until after incoming attack hits before letting go of the button or do you timely press and quickly release the button at the moment the incoming attack connects?
The same way you party with the guard button you would party the same way with the soul shield. Parrying with soul shield is better especially if you equip counter and no recovery on soul shield. If you’re good at partying enemies attack the better.
@@BltzZ It's more like they just put another break bar on top of the one you have. Though it drains, when it's over your normal break bar is still full. I only don't use Swayback because I can put another damage ability there instead and though you do lose 2 MP bars, you're soul shielding... they're coming right back.
Unfortunately in the late game the soul shield is not as useful as many enemies don’t get pushed back anymore by it. Still useful but with the speed of this game and the unfortunate way it calculates Aggro it’s sometimes a bit of a lottery
@@ozdeveraux2082 it's great, but takes a while to build. Good to save for boss 2nd form. Zantetsuken can wreck them too, and easier to spam. It's so satisfying to destroy pack of mobs, and Burst all of them 😇
Also i never see ppl use lightbringer 👀 if your break is zero, it will instantly fill it up, and become immune to drain from holding down soul shield button, and also increase how fast you break enemies, and you also auto Burst anything you kill. Since bosses have such a small window to attack them, you'll spend most of your time at full mp anyway, from soulshielding, and let team members do the attacking; good to put npc as Breaker. Parry is generally good since you can hold it down indefinetely, to guard against sudden unexpected attacks, and learn timing of boss attacks, without much loss to break guage.
I'm not a "souls" player but I finished it at least. I had help from my wife though, she isn't a souls player either but two players playing the same broken class got us through the game. If you have played a specific Final fantasy game you'll definitely want to play it for the story at least. The ending is mind blowing for someone who has been playing these games since the 90's.
This game is all mechanics and no substance. They have cool ass names to make their mundane mechanics sound better. Resonance sounds awesome….oh wait…it just tells the AI companion to use their skills.

Rapid tap Soul Shield against Tiamat was very effective 👍
Damn i finished the game and didn't noticed the two jobs had separate break gauge, would have saved me a lot of trouble XD
Casting Hastaga with Bravery has been doing wonders for me 😂. It’s super OP
You are just out here being a god aren't you
Is bravery with red mage?
@@J-gritty I believe I got it through the "Liberator" job. 👍
I know this is a very late reply what is hastaga?
The Soul shield is so great, it reminds me of Team Ninja's Burst counter in Nioh 2, it's so satisfying pulling it off.😎🔥
reminds me of royal guard from dmc kinda
swayback also has s and cancels attacks when you use it, it's so great. once I realised how good it was, I've never taken it off my command bars alongside mighty strikes (which is just too good to ever not use).
huge fan of lancet & mp regen too.
Thank you for calling out command abilities in this video XD
I couldn't finish the last boss until I realized I had sentinel unlocked lol
I’m so glad get put as much effort into the game as they did
I played through this whole game using only soul shield. Great tip at 4:40!
I didn't know about the separate break gauges! That's super helpful. I need to get better with my parry timing. I have good reaction time but always get distracted hack and slashing in games like these 😂
Bltzz…Master of Advanced guides😏
Thanks! I went old school with this intro it felt fun lol

Bahumet DLC just recently came out. Which overall is a new difficulty with some new classes.
you have 2 different break gauges? i´ve completed nearly every content on bahamut and now this :( rip

Just started this. I just finished nioh 1. It feels more like wo long than nioh

No mention of Lightbringer? It refills your entire break gauge on use.
It does, but it also gets rid of 2 MP bars and drains break gauge slowly. Great uses are there but overall I'd rather swayback

Soul shield till the day I die
@@BltzZ all you need is ultima! Wrecks every boss

This is helpful. Of course my dumbass started the game with a level 5 mission when I should have done the level 1 first. lol
Samurai's parry is good?
When the Dlc missions comes out ?
That I have no idea as of yet. Will let you guys know asap

Chaosbringer with Cyclic Warrior is busted.
@@CerberusMalt ya, you get it back in 1-2 Shields :p
How's your game is so bright?
I'm on PC and disabled the brightness filter
Did someone say soul?
YOUR SOUL IS....Yours?
As the game just was on sale this week. Bang on video.
I prefer getting hit like an idiot lol
Gotta get them to let down their guard thinking you are easy. I like the way you think!
Please tell me this game isn't a souls type game in Final Fantasy form. I can't stand those games.
It's a Nioh style game in final fantasy form. Made by the same people who made nioh, ninja gaiden and many others

Feels more like Nioh than souls but I still see them within the "Souls-like" genre.
