    Genesis 1:1 is an opening statement. It has major theological significance.
    Genesis 1:2 tells us that the earth as a planet exists and is covered with water.
    Genesis 1:3-5 The sun heats up the earth.
    Genesis 1:6-8 The heating of the earth creates evaporation and therefore an atmosphere.
    Genesis 1:9-10 tells us that the continuous evaporation expands the atmosphere and dry land appears.
    Genesis 1:11-13 Vegetation grows on dry land.
    Genesis 1:14-19 The atmosphere expands to the point of transparency causing the celestial bodies to be visible. No magic wand required.
    Genesis 1:20-23 Life begins in the oceans.
    Genesis 1:24-25 Life begins on dry land.
    Genesis 1:26-31 God creates mankind, in his image; a caretaker of sorts. Man being created in God's image makes him subject to God's authority and to God's authority alone. All earthly authority whether it be political or religious are all subject to mankind's relationship to God, for God is the creator and solely Supreme.
    Where Genesis is the creation of the physical earth, Revelation is the creation of the spiritual earth. Flesh gives birth to flesh; spirit gives birth to spirit. This is why the Genesis creation could have taken many years, but the spiritual creation is immediate.
    The Genesis story is from ancient oral traditions passed down from the beginning, given to mankind in the form of a vision, whereas the visual perspective is of, "a man standing on earth looking up" .
    The Genesis story is pre-flood, so what we have is Moses's writings of Noah's account, handed down to him orally from his ancestors.
    Now, this is my interpretation. This is what I read when I read it. I'm no scholar. But, the sole purpose of the Bible is to bring us the gospel. Everything written in the Bible is completely relative to Jesus Christ, the messiah, the Word of God, God's love for us, and the free gift of salvation for those who follow Christ.

    Gravity isn't the same as centrifugal force. Gravity acts in the opposite direction of centrifugal force. The gravitational force attracts the thing to the earth's center. The centrifugal force acts in a radial outward direction, attempting to hurl the object away. Please amend your lecture accordingly.

    And please explain the different creation account in Genesis chapter 2 beginning in verse four. The order is changed. Secondly, the Hebrew word (yom) for "day" in Genesis 1 means "generations" in Genesis 2. Please explain.
    Also, please explain how astronomy shows us that light we can see is of stars that are millions of light years away from us. Would God create an old looking universe if the universe is only a few thousand years old? That seems deceptive and unlike God's nature. Please explain.

    Very good professor. Remember that I told you this. The Kingdom of GOD existed in eternity before all things in time were created through CHRIST the KING of kings. Then we see HIM breath the breathe of life into a inanimate Adam. When the MESSIAH enters time from eternity through the womb of a woman the Holy SPIRIT and John the Baptist prepare the way. Then in the original Greek there is two witnesses of one body that have died in Revelation 11 and like with Adam in the beginning and CHRISR after the cross there's a resurrection. The Law, the Prophets, CHRIST who is Eternal LIFE and the Second Spiritual Death are in agreement that the appointed time when the evil one shall be bound for 1000 years approaches. Love Jason the Baptist of the Bible Belt. Shalom.

    John MacArthur with all due respect, because he has earned it, but you can't just take Genisis chapter 1 literally. It may be literal but not only literal. There is both. We understand first the literal but it will also fit as an alagory to take it as a parable. The old and new are saturated with parables. Even what happened that caused Adam and Eve's fall. If you take the bible literally only your knowledge will be limited.

    I disagree that you say there was only a sphere. It was formless...flat. A sphere would be formed. A sphere spinning is a scientific theory, a lie. As for the plants living off of ocean water is wrong. The ground had been seeded but, it was sometime later He watered them. The Bible clearly says that God did not create any rain yet to fall. Lecture 2 was not that good.

    • @meshow631
      @meshow631 4 года назад

      where did it say rain was not included in the creation? all things as it is now were created, gen 2:1 "Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them." everything thorns, thistles and weeds were created.as sorrow and pain were increased at the fall, so the volatility of the plants, the cursed earth. Gen 2:2-6 tell of the mist we all accept. v5 says there was not a man to till the ground, to protect or guard it. everyone knows the first thing you do when a garden is planted is to water it. there was no man to do so, so God took care of it with dew as He still does today. we understand the creation was in progressive stages but still only took 6 days to complete. in those 6 days all was created nothing was made after that or He was not done in creating on the 6th day as stated in v1. thank you for bearing with us. tell us if you have a biblical argument of what I said . thank you

    Dr. Barrick-
    Regarding the reading of Genesis 1: It seems one of the big controversies is the nature of the light created on day one, and the bearing that has on the meaning of the term day. It seems most people read the narrative as saying God didn't create the sun until day 4. But is that a necessary reading? Why not the creation of the sun on day 1, with verses 16-18 simply being a recap of the heavenly luminary bodies God created on day 1 and day 4? You emphasize that God created in an orderly fashion, and I agree. The plant life created on day three would need sunlight.
    (14) And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: (15) And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: *AND IT WAS SO. (16-19) And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
    -Bob

    Just because the authors of the New Testament documents believed the account in Genesis was literal history that does not ergo necessitate that it is. I don't understand that sort of "reasoning".
    There was a whole lot the authors of Genesis did not understand - just like there is a whole lot that you and I don't understand - but we do understand a lot more than they did.
    Regardless of all this, I do greatly appreciate professor bills humility and spirit of decency as opposed to condescension, self righteousness and obnoxiousness I so often find among evangelicals.

  • @smabe7
    @smabe7 3 года назад

    it's not that Jesus "adopted" an erroneous viewpoint regarding the age of creation, or that he set aside his integrity to go along with Moses and everybody around him. It is rather that Jesus, real man, is born into a culture with a set of ideas and concepts that he could not, except direct revelation, escape from. Otherwise, if we say the earth was made in 6 days because Jesus believed it and said so, him being God, we need ALSO to say that Jesus had all the science in him then. He knew the earth was a sphere gravitating around the Sun, he knew the general relativity theory (or any superseding theory still to be discovered), he knew about molecules and organic chemistry...Only, He could not talk about those, as people would not understand: the least he could do was confirm to them the account of the 6 days creation....(Really?!)
    What an argument is that ? The earth was created in 6 days because Jesus believed so? Of course he believed it, you too would believe it if born a few centuries ago. Jesus doesn't have to either confirm the account or to be a "pretender" who knows better but keeps the lie.
    He was no astrophysician. He was the son of man, well in his culture and the knowledge of his time.

  • @Repentee
    @Repentee 3 года назад

    Though I lean toward a YEC position I think his argument looking at the alleged inconsistency in OEC position holding to billions years for past creation and an instantaneous new creation as weak. That is, the lynchpin of his argument seems to be a misrepresentation. As far as I know, no OEC person would say that God couldn't have created instantaneously but rather that the evidence (as they understand it) shows a creation that progressed over millions of years. The argument isn't about what God could or couldn't do, but rather what God did do and will do. Good lecture otherwise.

    2 Timothy 3:1-17 KJV - This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was. But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience, Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me. Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

      Yeah water is level. We don't live on a spinning ball. Sun, moon, Stars are lights in the firmament for signs and seasons. Earth is never said to be the same as the lights in the sky in the Bible. I don't know where people get this craziness about earth being a planet (ie. Wandering star). Space is also fake as our sky can't be a vacuum, because we would not have air to breathe here.

    • @tbrown3356
      @tbrown3356 5 лет назад

      @Beautiful White
      Round or circle is not the same as sphere. Science is a method which validates cause and effect relationships through systematic experimentation. It deals with answering how and why questions, not what is questions. If you want to say science proved it, then give me the hypothesis of the experiment that proved we're on a ball, or that the earth is moving. Also, please explain this scripture about the sun standing still, because Heliocentrism says the earth is supposed to be rotating around the sun.
      Joshua 10:13 KJV - And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.

    • @tbrown3356
      @tbrown3356 5 лет назад +1

      @Beautiful White
      I already debunked your circle claim. It can be circle and flat like a plate. Circle doesn't mean sphere. You still did not answer how why the scriptures say sun and moon were stopped, not the earth. You also did not give me any hypothesis for earth being a spinning ball.

    • @tbrown3356
      @tbrown3356 5 лет назад

      @Beautiful White
      I see you are new to this topic. Let me just nip this in the bud. Here on Earth we have gas pressure. The necessary antecedent for gas pressure is a container. Therefore the sky can't be a vacuum, so space is fake. No one can go to space. So no pictures and no evidence we live on a spinning ball. The plane we live on is level like water. There are mountains, hills, valleys, but nobody is upside down anywhere. Lol. Pseudoscientists have tricked the whole world into believing this lie. Got you on here saying science proved it. No experiment has ever proven this. Do your research. Heliocentrism is a religion created by cult members to disprove God, and worship the sun.

    • @tbrown3356
      @tbrown3356 5 лет назад

      @Beautiful White
      Sorry to take your ball and space away, but it's a lie man. Look up Nicolas Copernicus, the guy credited with heliocentrism. Look up his Copernican Principle which states we here on Earth are not privileged observers in the Universe. Compare that to this scripture:
      Genesis 1:14-17 KJV - And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
      Sounds like Earth is special to me 😁. So now who you gonna believe, the word of God or Copernicus?

    Don't let outside opinion knock your confidence or second guess your confidence, or the conviction you teach with. Some love playing devil's advocate just cause; others have their own beliefs. I'll loosely quote the word: Blessed is he who believes in something he can't see, cause Jesus' own disciples had doubts and they walked with him and SAW his miracles and works with their own eyes. So keep it up Professor.
    P.S. "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and intruction." Proverbs 1:7 KJV. And in the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, We Agnostics reads "Deep inside every Man, Women, and Child is the fundamental idea of God."
