Canadian here, been buying Goldbacks for a while now, waiting for the Florida ones to ship on Jan 15th. Currency aside, I fully support the American ingenuity and collect them for the art.
If Texas and Tennessee would authorize the Goldback I think that would be a huge plus and the demand flood gates would open. Would love to see it, love the Goldbacks!
In order to get a Goldback for Texas, Goldback requires I believe 170 businesses to accept Goldbacks for trade. Check out Alpine Gold Exchange, they have been working on that for a few years now.
I’ve always loved the goldbacks, but these designs for Florida are by far the most beautiful! I’ve seen the first edition “1” denomination on EBay and they’re going for 250$!
My first thought was to prefer the 1/10oz coin. At about $300 it makes more sense to stack. But that’s exactly it. Goldbacks are meant to be spent. Many out there have an issue with the high premium, but the premium is built into the spending power of the Goldback. A 100 Goldback is a currency that can be spent for $500 and a 1/10 gold coin is a barter tool that can be used to trade for $300 of goods with a neighbor or friend. The idea of a currency having a face value well over its melt value has existed for a long time. You wouldn’t want it to be close enough that people think about melting down the currency. I think Gold backs are priced exactly where they should be.
@@panpunkt5185 For all intents, goldbacks are a fiat currency. Or at least a semi-fiat. Only half of the supposed value is actually backed by gold, and gold that cannot be recovered in any sensibly economic way. The stated value of a goldback exists only so long as the next person in line believes it exists. That's no different from USD.
I love your show. It's educational and always interesting. Wishing you and the crew many blessings, prosperity, and most importantly, Health this Bew Year. Keep collecting alive. You guys are doing a great job!!!!
It's a fun item, at the end of the day it is a for profit item. (I have no problem with that, is what it is. 🤷🏽) The company behind it is Goldba*k, Inc. out of Utah. The currency is minted by Valaurum, which is a private mint. Goldback Inc. does not sell directly, the currency is sold through distributors/ a distribution network who then sell to the public. This of course causes the premium over spot to be rather high. I may buy one or two, just for fun.
I've always found gold backs interesting and have held a few in a couple stores but have never owned one. That 5 pirate girl will probably change that for me soon lol.
I can't believe we are getting Goldbacks in Florida. We up-signed our dental practice to accept them and recruited some business owners from our friends and family circle, too. I'm so excited to have sound money in Florida.

great video i loved it! goldbacks are awesome i think everyone should buy them and use them! local businesses could really switch over to using goldbacks for the community to be able to buy and sell goods and services.
great vid love to seee it. Does the old 50 have the same size as the new 100? Very curious to know I'm kinda only collecting small denominations until they come to my State whenever that is so just encase, I ever get the chance to use one it won't have to be a super big back turned into paper and nickel.
They already did in 2022, but there is only a few cents worth of silver in them. They look awesome however so I picked a couple up. Look up the silverback dragon.
These are fantastic. I have not gotten into goldbacks so far, but this may be the game changer that sends me over the edge. I am of the "collect the whole set" mentality, and that "chaser card" Florida-vendor-only goldback is just the icing on the cake.
Guys and gals, another interesting note is pay close attention on 2:19-2:20. Pause the video at around that time and pay close attention to the "GB" logo on the left of the 1/2 goldback denomination. Below that logo is the year "2025" but on the left of the year "2025" you'll see the Greek alphabet (α). This is important because only the first few prints will have these symbols. Think of earlier pokemon cards that had 1st edition stamp. I say buy some and store them as future collectibles.
I absolutely love GoldBacks! I have a nice selection of the various issues already. The Florida offering is a huge leap forward for GoldBacks. The new denominations and security features were an unexpected move, most companies endure years of criticism before they improve their products. As far as premiums go, I love how the GoldBacks have higher premiums than bullion. It should always be that way because that premium is actually built in value. Don’t you want your currency to be valued higher than its constituent elements? Is it not a positive thing for GoldBacks to increase in value? All the GoldBacks I own have more purchasing power now than when I bought them. All the fiat dollars I have are worth less than when I earned them. Another downside to using FIAT currency as the basis of my personal finances, FIAT dollars are not only diminishing daily, they’re also taxed by the IRS. For the privilege of using a dying dollar, you must pay HEFTY PREMIUMS in the form of income taxes. Get out of here with your negative analysis on the state of GoldBacks.
When you get fiat currency/money as payment, from doing labor, the premiums are inbedded in inflation. I'd appreciate getting paid in Goldbacks instead.
I was drooling through the whole video!! 😂 Whether these are worth the extra cost or not, may be up for debate, but they are definitely beautiful and collectible!!!!

I liked the design on the 1/2 and 10s the best I pre-ordered both. I have a bunch of goldbacks from other states and think they are really pretty. I mostly stack 1/4 oz gold and 10oz silver coins, and get the goldbacks mainly for the novelty.
They're gold, and they're pretty, but that's about it. I have some from other states, but I'm NOT making a collection. I'll stick with stacking 1/10 ozt Au coins.
