- In this video I start to close up the siding on the pallet chicken coop.
For December I will be bringing you daily videos via Vlogmas 2024! They won't be Christmas themed though as I do not participate in the commercialism of Christmas. They will be daily vlogs of stuff I get done around the homestead.

Your doing a great job building with what you have✌️. The cedar on for the siding looks real good. Thanks for sharing go get some rest❤️
Thanks! I’m trying to stay on track with this coop build, so I can move on to the next project.
You've done a great job! 😊
Thank you! I'm trying my best!
Good morning ☕ Annemarie
Looking good 👍
Thanks! It’s coming along. 👍
You got a lot done this video, and it looks great. I love the cedar look❣️ Too bad you didn’t have enough to do the front. Even though it will turn silver color with time, I think.
You’re making great use of the wood that you have IMO👍🏼🤗
Thanks, I could clear coat the cedar to prevent it from discoloring but in all honesty, I probably wont LOL
It's looking good! 😊
thank you!
Looks pretty Kool!!!
Thanks! I think it looks pretty neat too.
Just a thought; instead of windows, maybe just leave areas of openings between the slats, and cover them with hardware cloth screen?? To let in light and air.
I do plan on putting hardware cloth up for vent areas, but we get some pretty cold winds coming from the north and the 'coop' area will be in the upper half of the coop so I want to have a way to block that wind in the winter.
Merry Christmas 🎄
Merry Christmas to you too!🎄
I would put hardware cloth or chicken wire over the two angled sections on the sides and the short pony wall in the front. The coop must be vented, 16:07 or you'll have breathing issues or moisture issues for your chickens, which would cause frostbite.
I agree! I promise there will be plenty of ventilation
Oh looks good
Thanks, I am liking how it is turning out!
❤
thank you!
very nice video
Thank you so much!
Hi Dilly, did your mama tell you that you’re getting a whole lot of new 2 legged sisters soon. Coops looking great Annmarie ❤️
Not yet! LOL She is a 'bird dog/herd dog" so I have to watch her closely around chickens haha
Our chicken cool had only one window in the front by the door.
I was only planning on one window. But Id love to have natural light in there so that I can see when I go inside, and I have the windows, may as well use them
❤How was the Tea? Annmarie, I think that Side with Cedar on the Coop Looks Great ❤! If You Don't have Enough for Everything, MAYBE You could The Cedar on the OPPOSITE WALL OF WHAT YOU DID..And Make Front & Back out of Whatever You decide.?? Just My 2 cents . 😊 HI too Dilly & Other Babies too. Not Sure but In My Part of MO We are Looking at Cold & Wet For a Lot of Days Ahead! Be Planning Ahead Don't want YOU SICK They Say A lot of People are Having RSV Pneumonia & etc. 😢 Rest Well and PRAYING FOR YOUR BACK 😊 God's blessings to You Always...
Thanks, I have been trying my best to stay away from other people so that I dont get sick! Im still deciding on what to do for the front area of the coop.
Can you use some of the metal roofing on the front, or do you need it all for the roofs on the decks?
Id rather use the metal for roofing instead of siding. Metal is much more expensive
Couldn’t you take apart the other pallets and use that wood? It seems like that wood would be around the same size. Maybe put the pallet wood on the very back since you really don’t see that, and put the cedar on the other side and possibly in the front. Just a thought.
I would, but... I have plans for those other pallets where I can use them whole and save myself a lot more screws/nails/lumber in the future.
