Mac Mini with M4 Pro with at least 8 performance cores and configurable to at least 64GB RAM please.
I have a 2020 intel i5 MacBook Air it is very slow now in multitasking sometimes even just watching RUclips. Should I wait for M4 in MacBook Pro or change now to MacBook Air M3
Depends if you can wait until early 2025.
I’m in the same boat & I’m planning to get a used m1 air for cheap & sell it for not a lot of lost money when m4 macbooks comes out.
The M2 MacBook Air is still a wonderful choice and you can get one for as low as 800 dollars. I think you should upgrade now to something like the M2 or M3 MacBook Air since they are incredible even though they are going to get outperformed by the M4.

@@IngriqiDin Well the motion blur of the current Mini-LEDs is disgusting and I think for frame sensitive work in video editing, it makes a huge difference. But that's just me. A video editor :)

@@IngriqiDin I can't say yet. Maybe M4 Pro chips will include more or better media engines for accelerating workflows. Or something else. Or apple hitting us with a surprise and we actually get tandem OLED screens. If you need a macbook now I would snipe a cheap M1 Pro or M2 Pro macbook used. If you already got something to work with I would wait for M4 and possibly live with the bad mini-led screen :/

I would recommend waiting even if you want to go with the m3. It will get cheaper to buy it new from Apple when the m4 comes out, and even cheaper refurbished. Buying refurbished from Apple is a really good deal, as all of there stuff arrives looking brand new with the battery being brand new as well. You can also still get the option for Apple care as well.
Considering that it’s proprietary hardware and that they omitted any results from the m3 vs m4 it’s more than likely the same computer so you should just save your money on it
I too would recommend waiting. You could even get the M3 with more bells and whistles from the refurb department for the same price as a more basic M4 model.
My macbook pro has lasted me over 10 years, and this year I’ll be waiting for an M3 refurb model.
Between now and then I can also continue to save and then when the time comes I can decide which is best for my use and go from there.
I have to replace my 2017 MacBook Pro and my wife's 2014 MacBook Pro. It's going to be an expensive year! We'll probably buy a MacBook Pro and a MacBook Air.

I can eat through 64GB RAM on my 16” M1 Pro easily. I’m sure 16GB would be sufficient, but memory is cheap nowadays. Their profit margin per GB of RAM is insane.
In this video I think I heard you say that MacOS is based on Linux. That’s incorrect. MacOS has its own special version of Unix/Posix compatible features which were first developed when Steve Jobs was CEO of the NeXT computer company. It was originally a combination of FreeBSD and the “Mach” kernel. Linux was a separate compatible evolution of Unix system.
Definitely going to go from Windows to MacOS with the MacBook Pro M4… That’s if I don’t win the M3 giveaway 🤷🏻♂️
I will lose faith in Apple if they release another 8GB MacBook model in 2024/25. Apple Intelligence definitely will need more resources. As for the gadget to buy, I hope to get the Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max this year if the wallet allows.

As a data scientist working on LLM's the bigger ram is better and Apple wants to be competitor of Nvidia as well. i am expecting to have 256gb of ram for the M4 pro and max. So consumer level 256gb of ram will make a huge difference. On M3 models %75 of the ram can be used as gpu ram because of SOC which makes it 96Gb of ram ready to be used. With the same math 192 Gb of ram insane in terms of price performance because if you try to buy a computer with 192Gb Gpu , you must have 8 Nvidia Gpus (24gb ram) , 8 power supply etc.etc. costs like hell . Macs are a good choice for consumer level data scientists. no need for bulky hardware.
In 2024, I’m hoping that the MacBook Pro M4 comes out in that space black!!! Also maybe a better Apple Watch SE for users that don’t need a lot of gimmicks
I'm wanting a Mac Studio (Ultra or Extreme) and Apple Studio display. I recently retired my 2013 Mac Pro as she wasn't having a hard time handing TwinMotion and such. and am now using a refurbed M1 Max MacBook Pro as the main machine. Seems to be going well and I might even just do an 16in M4 Max MacBook pro instead of a Mac Studio.
Should I win, I probably would give the MacBook to my sister as she needs a new one.
M4 would be overkill for me. I'll be upgrading from my Surface Pro 7 to a MacBook M3 Pro this year. Maybe I'll postpone my order until the end of the giveaway - who knows, I might just get lucky! 😂
This year I plan on copping a Mac mini as my MacBook Air is beginning to run out of storage and ram is insufficient for UI/UX design programs. Also a 16 pro max for the “Apple Intelligence” cause I’m a simp for that kinda stuff. Last a new iPad and the Apple Pencil Pro for more design squirts. Thank you for the M4 update, I'm want to start doing video editing and looking at getting an M2 or M3 14 inch PRO, or waiting for the M4 chip. Hopefully the M4 PROs is worth waiting for.
I’m looking to upgrade my watch hopefully and will get the new iPhone. I have to upgrade my laptop, but I’m not sure what route to go (however, my 2017 MacBook Air is well past its expiration date, so some change is inevitable!)
After seeing just how impressive the new iPad and Pencil are, I hope to get my hands on both of them! I currently own a 2016 MacBook Pro (time flies, seriously), and even though I never bother with giveaways, having an upgraded MacBook Pro alongside the new iPad and Pencil would absolutely transform my creative workflow. When I first got into programming, I stumbled across a quote that really stuck with me: 'Happiness is neither virtue nor pleasure nor this nor that, but simply growth. We're happy when we're growing.' - William Butler Yeats. In this case, I have to say it's a bit of a conundrum because not only would it bring me great happiness, but having such a beast of an upgrade would also be a huge game changer, and I can't even imagine the growth that would come from that!

Hopefully would be getting the new M4 MacBook when released. I am expecting Apple releases cheaper tier versions of the Vision Pros. That would have been an extra I definitely would be considering.
I'm giving my M1 Macbook Air to my wife to replace a Thinkpad T460s with an 6th gen Intel I5 cpu. I'm not sure if picking up an M4 Macbook air makes a lot of sense as I've got an M2 Pro 14" which is portable enough and still has killer battery life.
Probably going to finally upgrade my iPhone 13 Pro Max to whatever comes out later this year. Also maybe upgrade my Mac Studio to the next version. Thanks Matt
The one thing Microsoft has over Apple is they are specing 16G minimum, often 32G in their AI capable PCs. Even the best local models I have seen are 8G, and you can’t be swapping that in and out without destroying performance.

I have just bought a M3 MacBook Air so I won't be looking to replace this soon. My MacMini will get replaced in 2026 probably. I hope to get an iWatch and AirPods this year though.

Even with improved efficiency on the M4 series chips, I don't expect the M4 Max to draw significantly less power than the M3 Max. The M3 Max already got the fans spinning a bit more than the M2 Max. If they have to make the Macs thinner, let it only be the screen. The body should remain as it is...

Super excited to at least play with the new iPad Pro 13" with the glossy screen. The colors are gonna look so beautiful on that display. Also super excited to see how Apple Intelligence really feels in day to day use cause this is, IMO, one of the biggest changes to iOS and iPad OS we've seen in a while. I remember staying up all night long back in college to download iOS 5 for my iPod Touch just for Siri, only to find out my iPod wasn't even capable of using Siri lol. That was a big change, and I think it'll be cool to see iOS actually become what everyone thought Siri would be like back then. Thanks for the new MacBook info round up, love these videos! Cheers
OSX is not based on Linux it is based on BSD another branch of the UNIX family tree. Steve Jobs Next computer operating system called OpenStep was based on FreeBSD and it influenced OSX. I believe the original OSX was built on top of Dragonfly FBSD.
At this time the M4 doesn't interest me that much since the work I do isn't graphic heavy and for the little AI involved the M1 and M2 Max have plenty of neural cores to handle what my apps need. I'll wait for the AI to mature a bit in both software and chips and before I decide if I need more hardware power.

It's not just that the operating system requires more RAM, the apps and programs you buy require twice as much RAM with AI. If you want to use your mac for more than 6-7 months then you need at least 32 GB of Ram. if not, the lifetime will be short-lived.

As a Windows user since Big Ben, I now want to use macbook. All my laptops got tired too soon, even me ex-Dell XPS. It didn't hold up to daily use, having several issues with it.

I think the m3 MacBook being released last year makes it unlikely Apple will just immediately release the m4 MacBook this year. Just my opinion but in any case a M2or better chip is going to do just fine for most people! Take advantage of those deals if you’re on a budget :).

Can you imagine Apple integrating AI into all of their native productivity apps? As an example, numbers (the excel competitor) kinda sucks right now but suppose that tomorrow, we could suddenly talk to our computer and it spits out a worksheet full of equations needed to solve a specific problem in a matter of seconds.
I mean, wow. We don't really fully appreciate how dramatic a disruption is on the way for many established applications/services.

One slight correction, Mac is based on Unix, which is the same OS Linux is based on.. In other words, Mac is not based on Linux, they share the same base, called Unix..
I might get myself a HomePod mini later this year to use in my student room. My current (Windows) laptop is still okay, so I don’t plan to buy myself a new MacBook yet until the current laptop gives up on me. Although I am exited by all the new announcements made by Apple 😮
Personally I think M4 and Apple Ai will be great. Apple Ai might be able for us to save money as we wont need to send money to other Ai apps. However I agree with you about Apple RMB problem - for Ai 16 Rmb or more is needed especially to future prof.
Apple should've already launched macbook air with m4 rather than m3

Hey Matt, I would hope that Apple makes the M4 series of Macs have 16 GB of RAM base so that they could do better with Apple Intelligence. Also, it's time that they just do that across all of their devices now, since they are really behind in that respect.
Other than that, like I have been saying, I am looking into getting a Mac Studio later on this year. I need a new desktop and a Studio is the perfect Mac for me to get some serious work done on.
I would love to buy the new Airpods and now I am looking for an M chip macbook pro. I am starting a new position and will therefore have to wait for a while but from seeing your videos and hearing the power of the M Chip it would be an amazing upgrade.
