I bought my saw for storm damage. Before I had a storm, my friend had a 16’x 25” dead tree laying across his driveway, that he needed removed! The 140 is what I had in my truck. I ended up cutting it in half, then the 8 footers in half. My friend rolled them over the hill. I don’t know what surprised me more, the saw, or my friend! We are both 75 year olds! I was so impressed with the saw, I bought the 220c, in 16” length! I’m all set for storms, now! Going electric batteries, now! Two different batteries, same charger!
Thank you, great instructional video. I bought the 140 yesterday, my 1st chainsaw ever, needed something around the house. was not looking forward to reading the manual. You answered all my questions about it.
Not trying to be mean but they look bad compared to a 2 stroke Stihl I don't do too much big tree work anymore so was considering one but none of these videos I find extremely convincing.
Will definitely be very useful around the mill. We are waiting on our next storm. Snow, sleet, and freezing rain. It might be a huge mess around here come Monday
Great review , I’ve just ordered one so that I can prune smaller trees in an area that may want peace and quiet .. I already have petrol machines but I’m slowly increasing my battery machines also .. thanks 😊
Hello, and thank you. So glad we were able to help out. These are great saws, and have plenty of power to do what you need. Even that occasional bigger job if needed. You with definitely keep the peace with this machine.
That sure is a nice little Saw, I can see where that is going to come in real handy for you guys thanks Chuck and Deb Great video great instruction on the new saw👍👍🇺🇸
Hello David, and thank you. I learned my lesson at an early age. Put one on backwards, and worked our butt off to cut a branch or 2. It was my first time using a chainsaw, and I was not impressed.....until I realized it was backwards. Flipped it around, and was then amazed.
Great job Deb. I'm Thinking about getting one of those for small jobs at the mill and timing the jack pine around the yard. I hate climbing a ladder with the 555 husky running or pulling the starter at the top of the ladder.
Forgot about, if you intend to go on a ladder or on a tree than go with "work horse" the Stihl 161T with a 30cm bar and an AP200 battery. I also have the GTA26, MSA220C and MSA300.
Sweet Saw you have there Deb and Chuck. Deb's gotten so popular on the tube she's got a cameraman 😆😆😆 . Chuck how is your 👁️ doing mostly healed up I hope. I have that same helmet even use it string trimming ( I hate rock's to the face). For a little battery saw it seems like a solid runner. Great video really liked Deb's happy resting face you could really tell she was excited 😊. As always good luck and God Bless.
Chuck I'm pretty sure now that Deb has her own chainsaw and can run the mill as well as drive the truck and trailer, you are retired my friend! LOL Battery saws are nice at the mill for sure. I've had mine for a few months and love it.
I think better shoes when using the saw Deb, and keep out of the way of the blade with your legs, stand to the side, left arm straight. Another skill good for you, I love using my saws.
Looks like a convenient little saw. My concern with all battery powered tools is the longevity of the batteries when it's a tool that you very seldom use.
It definitely is a great saw around the mill. It will see a good deal of work. We can report back on this saw, after a few months. We are sticking to the battery maintenance, to insure full battery life.
We aren't exactly sure. We haven't actually watched it. My wife went down after 4 hours, and it was recharged. I guess it's something we could check, but had no reason to so far
Donald, stihl make larger versions of this saw, if you need more power. Check around, and see what you find. So far, no issues, and no complaints. It's a Stihl. It doesn't surprise me.
Yep...same problem for me...shoulder surgery and now pulling a start cord is a PITA...I am heading out and picking up the MSA140 tomorrow. I already have the string trimmer that uses the same style battery and have a 2nd AK30 battery as well so I am pretty much set. I love the Stihl String trimmer. Great review and thank you for doing the video folks! Mike 🇨🇦 🍁
Thanks for watching. The weight without the battery in is 6 pounds. With the battery is 8 pounds and 12 oz Battery weight 2 pounds 11 oz Thanks again Elliott4570 and take care
Nice rig? What’s the weight on it? Seems like the battery lasts pretty good also. I like to have the saw closer to the tree when I cut, not always possible, but when I cut. Been cut twice by one, so I’m paying attention always. I have to say though..Deb’s a sawyer, now a woodsman! Nice job Deb! God bless you folks, always great to chat with you! 🙏🎚🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾
The saw with a bar and chain, without battery, is 6lbs 1oz. The battery weighs 2lbs 11oz. Total weight is 8lbs 12oz. Not bad at all. Deb is definitely doing a lot these days. She's been getting a lot of support from folks out here as well. Always good chatting with you as well.
Question: what kind of chain and guidebar oil did you use? Was it Stihl platinum? I ask because the manual suggested BioPlus at $44 a quart. I could scarcely afford to run the thing at that price! Platinum is getting hard to find as well, but that was my next choice.
I've seen those 2 oils on the shelf. Nope, to pricey. We run the good old orange bottle stihl. Unless it's winter, then it's the blue bottle. No need for the fancy stuff.
We have looked into it. $150 each from stihl. We have a small gas saw to use while it charges. The main job for this saw is to slice up scrap as it comes off the sawmill.
I as well didn't think I would ever support the electric car idea or for matter here, a chain saw. I'm 72 now so its lots different. I can't put my own socks on now, I am that crippled. Keep the bar out of the dirt and if it slows down the slightest, resharpen saw and keep the chain riders down as well. I think the chain speed watching here is close, a might faster would give you some more time with the saw cutting straight. As for torque, a drill can break your arm so this just might have the power to get through some tuff nibbling... speaking of which, leave the bar oil out, use wesson oil or some kind of vegetable oil in the saw to take hunting with you. Any wood chips won't harm you if you eat some but chain oil might be tuff to go. Plus it fits a smaller person just as well
I with not buy this saw, to me have not much purpose. I first buy the Stihl 220C my mistake, then I buy the 161T (A WORK HORSE) and now 2 months ago I buy the MSA300. So have no purpose for the 220C, I think same with happen with this 140C.
We use the 140c for light work most of the time. We have bigger saws for large jobs. The 140c is great for its intended purpose. We are glad we bought it.
@@IronOakSawmill Is not my intention to down side the 140 I just feel that with 161T i with do everything that the 140 do and at same time if I need anything like pruning it is more convenient. That's why I have the 3 of themes, 161T, 220C and MSA300 and the one I less use is the220C. In the case of bigger job if you got a chance try the MSA300 you go be surprised, this saw got power however it have a problem, the battery, even the AP500 Is not up to the saw, if you go in full power using about 80% of the blade you only cutting for 15 minutes and on top of that the battery got hot and takes another 15 to 20 minutes for the 500 charger just to cool it down to beginning to charge it back, the saw is grate I hope stihl comes with better battery technology.
@@sirvozelo1 Sorry if it came across like that. I agree. We have issues with the battery running down too fast if cutting a bit bigger wood. With 3 gas saws around, I don't see a larger battery unit, but maybe some time in the future. Hope they have better battery tech by then.
@@IronOakSawmill Believe me, if you got a chance try the MSA300 I assure you be surprise, with a new or sharp chain in full power it cuts oak like butter.

They are an amazing saw. Very surprised at what it can do. We are considering the larger 220 as well. More power is always a good thing.

Great demonstration. I have the msa70 and this is relevant to that machine too
I own the same Stihl chain saw and it is a beast for small work up to 14" trees. I love it! Deb good luck with your new Stihl.
We agree. This saw surprised us with its power. Very nice to have around the mill.

Just purchased the 140 on 1/6/22. Great saw for the homeowner that may use it occasionally.
It is a great saw. We will surely put it to the test on the mill.
Hi J Clark. Yes I love this saw, it helps on the mill alot. Take care

My brother has the 120c. It's a handy tool around the woodyard and the sawmill.
It is very handy so far. Great for limbing like we did, and for cutting the scrap to manageable sizes for handling
Hi Life in the 906. You're absolutely right. Take care
Now that's a awesome saw. I think people that take logs and do carving that saw would be the one to use. Good job Deb. Take care and be safe.
We have seen chainsaw carvers using these. This one will serve us well. Just have to keep it sharp
Hi Joel. I'm glad you like it. This saw is awesome very light to carry. Take care
Yep, Sculptor’s love this chainsaw. They even have a Carving bar that fits this saw for about 80 bucks.
Would be a handy little saw to have around. Thanks for sharing. Our snow storm started at 6:30. possible 10" 🤨
