It's hilarious now that back in 1989 everyone was joking that this was the 'Steel Wheelchairs' tour, they were in their late 40's then and most people couldn't imagine them going on after this tour. People rocking into their 50's had yet to happen. Now here we are in 2024 and they are in their 80's, and most of us fans are senior citzens now too, and still rockin' til we drop. We're a hell of a lot different than our grandparents generation.
one of the their best records brings back memories bought the steel wheels on tape while back packing with fellow traveler from Melbourne to south coast of Nsw australia great vibes memories. back in 89
The Steel Wheels tour in 1989 was freaking amazing. I was there . Mick is a 1st class frontman. Keith and Ronnie and Bill and Charlie are coming in blazing hot 🔥. I just love the Stones. I'm a die hard fan for 49yrs and for the rest of my life. They are the Gold Star 🌟 standard of rock and roll excellence. They are simply bad ass.
This is awesome. I love your channel. You've been posting some top choice videos. Thank you so much. I loved that concert video from the 81 Still Life Tour from the Pontiac Silverdome in Detroit the other day. That was incredible!
Wow Glimmer, this is such a special video for anyone that loves these guys and grew up with these songs. You get to see each one of them so closely.. Keith will keep you up all night, vulnerable and real and he’ll pour his heart out. Mick stays so committed and focused while being polite and open to anything.. and Ronnie may come in anytime chewing gum and glue it all together like god.. Did he really come up with that R&AHP riff? Around 1:30:39 when things kinda finally fall into place together feels truly amazing. Joy to be together. Thanks for posting this amazing video.
Had the pleasure of working with Chris Potter once. I asked him what Keef was like. He looked at me across the mixing desk and said "He's like a toned down version of you, son" 😅True story
As a teens in the 70s we’d all gather outside somewhere (sandpits, whatever), hundred kids with big speakers on car rooftops and blast the Stones and p a r t y! Yup, big speakers blasting like the Hot Rocks album, etc. Great times. Thanks Stones.
Thank you very much. Whenever I meet Mick Jagger, I am impressed by his absolute positivity. Always on the happy side of life, always friendly, giving, always completely himself. A great role model for everyone: be yourself and trust your own strength. No matter where life has placed you.
I liked this album as a kid...its great seeing this. And the way they craft it together so losely....kieth getting more drunk as it goes along.. surprised jagger let this get out
I wonder how much stuff like this they have in the vault. It's got to be a staggering amount. I mean you have bands that were around less than 10 years 50 years ago that are still able to conjure up releases and docs (The Beatles/ Jimi Hendrix), the stones have 50 years beyond them and also, as time went on, the tech got better.
The Steel Wheels tour was excellent. I saw it at the Coliseum in L.A. and they were way better than in 1981 in my opinion. 2000 Light Years From Home !
I love Keith's voice in combination with the ringing of ice cubes in a cocktail glas ... Keith was in a 5 Star mood ... "Could it get any bedder ..? Nope"
Somebody has to be the leader in the band, and it is Mick. I can't understand the hate. He goes through the songs in an efficient manner, and sometimes is not as kind as he could be, but never rude. He gets the job done and ends up being an effective manager. Bill and Charlie are the hearbeat. Keith and Ronnie are the soul. Mick is the manager.
Rock and a Hard Place (Jagger - Wood)
@@BonJoviLiveConcerts2022 I understand the feeling, the same thing happens to us Argentinians with the lost shows of 95 and 98. I hope that one day all these shows will come to light.
Saw Steel Wheels tour..far too polished from when I saw them in 78..they were rough and ready with Ian Stewart..Micks Bday..Oakland with Peter Tosh and Santana..
For me this was their last real album. Bill left after this tour and they never sounded the same again. Check out Bill's new album, "Drive My Car". I like it better then the Stones new album.
Steel wheels was a crappy album compared to their 70s albums, critics and fans thought but later on it grew on all of us and its a pure gem... If we all ask our conscience... Admit it die hard stones fans..
My guess is people have completely underestimated just how hard these guys have worked over the decades. Some people think they just get wasted and sit around throwing shit together but it's actually the opposite. They probably work harder than most people who have a nine to five job.
I'm always interested in the stuff that the artists don't want you to see. It's them at work; you can instantly see the band dynamic. Mick treats everyone as though they were his servants, and particularly poor Ronnie Wood, who, even after 14 years in the band, is still treated like the new boy. It's astonishing that he's in the band to this day. He could easily have toured with Rod Stewart all this time. I saw the Stones at Wembley in June 1999, and they were outstanding. x
Saw them on the tour for this album at St.James' Park, Newcastle. I was lucky enough to be very near the front. The huge inflatable prostitutes for Brown Sugar were very memorable. Come to think of it Keith Richard liked it there so much he said it was better than Miami (it was a nice sunny day), and they'd come back but they never did😞
Emotional Rescue, Tattoo You, Undercover, then Dirty Work. Thank God that the band reconciled the blues alive on Steel Wheels. I actually thought the Stones were finished until this album (CD) came out.
@@ChristopherHolmgren A rather pompous answer. Just enjoy "Steel Wheels", that says enough about your knowledge of music. It's 53 minutes of The Rolling Stones pretending they are The Rolling Stones. Nothing but a pile of JUNK! Just like your reaction.... SAD SAD SAD
I saw them live at giants stadium for the 40licks tour and the whole stadium was dancing and moving to Charlie. The recordings it’s easy to overlook his genius but live he was rudolf the red nose reindeer of the band.
On Mixed emotions #6 it has Mick's vocal going to a high note. Keith is telling Mick he can make that note. I'm pretty sure on the album Mick isn't hitting that high note.
Kind of agree with you my first stones concert was steels wheels (vet in Philly) just sounded more corporate , almost synth pop to a degree compared to when I then saw them at the Vet for the vodoo lounge tour, had that more bluesy/loose bad boy sound and visuals too (giant blow up dolls) micks vodoo top hat persona 🎩🎸 but looking back it was also good to see bill wyman with them on steel wheels before he retired

Steel Wheels was their last great album. And their last with Bill on bass. Maybe there's a connection there..

Great album!
"Steel Wheels" one of their best albums.
😂😂
Respectfully disagree. I consider it another dull and mediocre album, just like Hackney.
this is rockn roll gold not many bands let you see there rehearsal process just shows how they put in the work like te rest of us

Hi! Can you post The Rolling Stones's concert in Lisbon, Portugal 1990 withn SBD Audio and pro shot, Thanks!
Hi, I'm sorry, but the Lisbon show is one of those for which there are no recordings available at the moment.

Ronnie keeps that riff going ..
My gosh Charlie Watts really knew how to hit that snare drum.

You're so right with this comment! Billy was irreplacable and his new record is great!

You all can see here that Art is Hard.
Between A Rock And A Hard Place. Around 31:00 in, you realize how good a bassist Bill Wyman really was.
Emotional Rescue, Tattoo You, Undercover, then Dirty Work. Thank God that the band reconciled the blues alive on Steel Wheels. I actually thought the Stones were finished until this album (CD) came out.
They should have stopped after Tattoo You. Every album since then has been, at best, mediocre or downright awful.
One minor correction: 16mm film

If only Steel Wheels wasn't so overly produced. The sessions were great but the end result was too polished, too pop.
Totally agree! Not their best album.
Keith only cared about the music. I love the guy for that.
great see MnK working together after their WWIII period

When Keith laughs I hear Jacob Marley’s ghost!

Who is glad they are bald
The two best songs, fancy man blues and sweet thing, weren’t used for this dreadful album????
Great songs but wouldn't have saved the album.
Rock And A Hard Place in gestation is just as good (bad) as the result IMO.
