I've seen stiff winter compounds hold up really well during rallycross events. They will definitely get you by on a budget. That said I've been fortunate enough to find Rally clubs in my area selling used take-offs from their stage cars for a fraction of the price of a brand new set. Might be worth checking out if there are any ARA or SCCA events in your area.
How a caliper and the wheel's drop center both fit in the 1.6 inches between rotor and tire bead radius, I have no idea, but nice! Now that you're actually letting yourself enjoy it, please electrically disconnect your airbag control module, metal boxy thing between the shifter and the parking brake ripper. You'll have a warning light, but you won't have an explosion in your face. Also keep in mind that if you lose fuel supply right after a little impact/landing, your inertia switch(top center of the screen at 12:34) can be reset by pushing in it's inverted nipple top. Glad to see you behind the wheel of one of your own cars, great video Sarah.
Thank you for putting out this series. Received a 2015 ford focus se and going to do the same sort of thing. Living in Kansas and we have more gravel roads than regular. So the overlander/rally style is super necessary
I can honestly say that I enjoy watching anything and everything that you do and say; your work ethics your humour, humbleness and modesty are what keep me here.
I think the winters will perform well, but There’s got to be a better chunkier tire, I’d be concerned about the snow tires handling the abuse with the heat. Some kind m&s tire maybe?
@@robertt9342 Winter tires use a more pliable rubber and will wear down more quickly when warm, but do grip well on loose surfaces. The wear is less concerning on dirt. It's pretty common for a budget rally solution.
I need to do this to my Golf. Not for Rally but for the horrible city streets on my drive to work. Looking forward to seeing you let it rip on those dirt roads once you’ve got him armored up. 😀
Tires with more sidewall tread will help you out quite a bit with steering on the lose dirt Sarah, for your next set of tires. www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=All-Terrain%20T/A%20KO2&partnum=095SR5KO2RWL
here in the sticks. 3/4 of the roadways are gravel. there are two kinds of material used . Sand and gravel / milled limestone. Limestome makes a better roadsurface but eats up tires at a much quicker rate than sand and gravel Your mud and snows will last a remarkably long time.
In my humble opinion as a Canadian who's lived with extreme winters all his life, your winter tires will do great in rally. They are a stickier slightly softer rubber but with strong durable side walls as they are designed to tackle solid ice and ripping shards. They have aggressive tread so grip should be very good. This, again IMHO, is a very frugal and workable solution.
Really enjoy the Sir Codsworth rally vids! Excellent progress. Can't wait to see you climb the truck review hill! I know you will, and I know you will! Nice to hear some innuendo again.
4 tires for the price of 1? Hell Yeah! Anyone who has issues can: A)- Buy you the legitimate tires.. B)- Suck it because they didn't.. C)- All of The Above.. Awesome score on the wheels
It's nice to see how it all atarted. Been watching the U-Wrench videos on fender flare fabrication lately - the project has come a long way by now. Very much looking forward to see you driving the finished rally car when it finally is ready for a rip in the desert. Also - the Counting-the-Gumps-music was right up my alley - loved it!
GREAT VID/VLOG! GREAT MUSIC FOR THE SPRING PART!!! THE MOTIVATIONAL POLKA WAS A HOOT!! Car looks awesome!!!!....oh and nice job being frugal on the tires, what you did was honest sensible and besides a little R&D is in order.
Now you're learning about the different generations of Foci. Should have asked me. Who says you're not a mechanic. Good to see you're happy with the outcome.
We have the same tire for rally lol. I recommend 40 psi to keep the side wall from debeading off the rim. I learned the hard way when I sent it the first time to test the tires and had to buy a brand new tire.
Sarah please take care of yourself first and foremost, you still look under the weather. I love your channel and will wait if you need to heal up . Your so fun to follow . Thank you for your entertaining media.
Nice wheels, they look the part. It will look even better when the front bumper is gets bumped off for a UK spec. It's coming together. Keep up the good work
Sumito ice edge and general winter tires are both great for SCCA RallyCross. I've been told Federal is one of the better ways to get Rally tires. Supposedly a whole set for 600$. Good luck I also painted my car with safety orange and blue enamel paint. Came out great and is perfect for off road use.
Nice work and sweet find on the tires and the wheels. I think it looks good. Can't wait to see the underbody shield fab process as well. Or however you deal with that.
After watching videos on this channel back to back for several weeks, I'm finally caught up and I'm glad I get to watch a new video when it's uploaded.
I recently raised my 2013 impreza with forester springs and shocks and it came out really good. Also, you should just plasti dip your whole car yourself.
Looking great! Happy Sarah makes me happy. I have a feeling the soft rubber compound on those tires won't hold up too rallying but like you said, they were relatively cheap so we'll all see.
Changing the springs to longer ones you might also need to change the struts . The OEM ones may not allow for full spring expansion and not allowing full height.
I thought I was crazy until I found this. I have an '01 Focus Estate (station wagon). I already run it with winter tyres (I have a thing about this) and I want to lift it as well - this video convinces me. I also have a thing about the MR2 - desperately miss my mk1.
I use winter tires all the time for off-roading never had an issue yet
Yep, and if you want stiffer tread then spray 303 protectant on the tread and it will make the tread more durable.

Yee buddy mine been going all year
can confirm. i am a 4x4 junkie.
Winters definitely work on a budget
Lol I jus used some summers for off roading

Your innuendos 🤣🤣 love it
I'm starting to get kinda hyped about this project
Epic find and choice on the wheels! Those snow tires will work great on dirt compared to most off the shelf passenger tires. Great idea. :)

Very cool. Thanks for doing this on your Escort and sharing the video! 👍
I did pretty much the exact same mods on an Echo hatch and it was very fun to drive offroad and cool looking.
your personality is just awesome i randomly stumble upon this channel but kinda glade i did lol keep up the good work and spirits

Excellent Improvement on the looks with the new rims and tires Sarah
Way to go Sarah! The wheels and tires look great! White paint will look great on the car!
Ahhhhhh, and the world is good again. Thank you for your videos sarah...
You are making a non technical car enthusiast interested in the stuff underneath. Love your channel and the work you do. You are awesome :)
Those wheels are Da Bomb! ⚫ nice find Sarah!
4 tires for the price of 1?
Hell Yeah!
Anyone who has issues can:
A)- Buy you the legitimate tires..

Awesome score on the wheels
Great video. Like the snow tire idea. Can't wait till you change it to white!
Fantastic cleaning music!
Good job Sarah!
Very sound logic behind your decision making!

Good thing you are fixing the foucs.
You're making me want to get another 1st gen Focus... and I've promised myself I'd never get another one. A rally wagon would be sick though.
Keep doin your thing girl, crank out YOUR projects and don't worry about the haters
Now you're learning about the different generations of Foci. Should have asked me. Who says you're not a mechanic. Good to see you're happy with the outcome.
This is my first time watching the show, mybad. The humor as well fixing cars is redonkcilious!! I have a 2002 svt with 98 k miles 1 owner
We have the same tire for rally lol. I recommend 40 psi to keep the side wall from debeading off the rim. I learned the hard way when I sent it the first time to test the tires and had to buy a brand new tire.
Nice white will look good. Some nice skid plates underneath and it'll be somewhere near. A white rollcage would be my choice! Keep up the great work.
As soon as you said 15s I was like o no, I'm shocked they fit, very cool.
“Plenty of room to put my finger in and wiggle it around...that’s what he said.” 😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 you talking about the women lady parts
I can’t believe I barely found this channel! You’re amazing !👏🏼
Seeing this and the MR2 getting driving and enjoyed is absolutely awesome! Love it! Keep these coming!
Sarah please take care of yourself first and foremost, you still look under the weather. I love your channel and will wait if you need to heal up . Your so fun to follow . Thank you for your entertaining media.
M Goding I’m not under the weather, I lost weight from being on a strict diet to clear up my gut issue.
Those wheels are absolutely stunning !
Love your content, always get a smile and learn something.
Looking forward to future adventures.
good one Sarah and dont ever change
Sarah, I run winter tires instead of all-terrain tires year-round on my Grandpa Gump here in Tucson. No issues.
There may still be some snow on Mt. Lemon, take it for a rip up the back side control road, it'll be a blast in that thing for sure.
Haha, liking it a lot. With it sitting high and level, and with the new rims and tires, the thing look very capable. 😀
They wont suck. Perfect for local RallyCross. Staying tuned for the fun!
A happy Sarah makes for a happy RUclips!
Sarah you are awesome! Love your videos!!!
Grate to see sir cosworth back on the move again .Grate bargan on the tyres .You seem to back back in good form again grate to see
Or even great*
The lift, wheels and tires look awesome
“That was smart. S M R T.” LoL
A wonderful Homer Simpson reference. :)
Doh !
Super excited for Sir Cosworth! Keep it up 🦾
Also, have you looked at the project rally Ross Focus that Grassroots Motorsport did a few years ago? May be some good intel there...
For your tires ... I use Winter tires too on my 106 Rallye and it works great ! If they're rated "M+S" they're good to go !
Nice wheels, they look the part. It will look even better when the front bumper is gets bumped off for a UK spec.
It's coming together. Keep up the good work
Very entertaining video, tons of personality. Now I gotta catch up on this project since this is over a year old lol.
Your Rally Car is coming along nicely!! Don't forget Front Rally Lights!!! Minimum 4!!!
Sarah, you are thoroughly entertaining. Thank you. Hahaha
Love it! So cool. Congrats Sarah
Sarah's innuendos crack me up to no end. :)
GREAT wheels! Can't wait to see the paint job videos. This is looking fun.
I like where this project is going!
At the time your car was made, Focus was the best selling car in the world. Parts are super available and amazingly cheap.
Sumito ice edge and general winter tires are both great for SCCA RallyCross.
I've been told Federal is one of the better ways to get Rally tires. Supposedly a whole set for 600$. Good luck
I also painted my car with safety orange and blue enamel paint. Came out great and is perfect for off road use.
You should raptor line the interior, and if you like it the outside, Grear for off-road!
The Focus is looking good! I like the new wheels.
I love that 80's video game background sounds.
May want to consider rally style wheel sweepers to try to keep rocks from jamming between the calipers and wheel. Love your channel, thanks!
Wow 😳 ! That’s a tight fit : )
I recently raised my 2013 impreza with forester springs and shocks and it came out really good. Also, you should just plasti dip your whole car yourself.
That looked like serious fun! Rock on Sarah!
Hello Sarah, if you dont like the snow tires Id suggest trying a Kumho Crugen HT51 or a Falken Wild Peak
Good idea using snow tires. Low risk for big potential upside.
Good fun! Nice work...
I'm interested to see how those winter tires perform/last.
Looking great! Happy Sarah makes me happy. I have a feeling the soft rubber compound on those tires won't hold up too rallying but like you said, they were relatively cheap so we'll all see.
Wheels look GREAT!
You're really putting in the work! Really enjoy your efforts!

Have you think to wrap it with your logo or add the logo on the white paint. I think it would look awesome!!
A friend of mine told me that his used up and bald Blizzacks were the best drag radials he's ever run.
Great video fire as always.
Brilliant video, as always!
HI Sarah love your channel keep up the awsome work!
good find on the wheels , one of the few wheels that clear those calipers.
Great video Sarah!
+1 for the Milwaukee cordless impact wrench! Love mine!
GREAT exterior color choice!! All my vehicles are white (not planned, just ended up that way)
I was waiting for the 1up sound at 1:04.
Theirs nothing like getting great deals on parts. Can't wait to see what you do next!
Take a look at Maxsport RB3 tyres. Not too expensive and should do the job. Though I'm not sure about availability in the US.
10:46 hehe love it
Ugh I want to do this to my Fiesta soo bad, and with Canadian winters those tires work fine. I need to talk to a rally shop or something.
oooh Walter Ostenek - The Polka King! Oktoberfest! Good for any time of the year, or car repair!
use dry ice for sound deadening repair, makes it easier, faster and safer to do
Really loving them wheels 😍😍😍😍
