Sarah, glad to see you're using a jack stand (should use 2!) in addition to the Quick Jack. The QJ manual says: "Do not work under an elevated Vehicle unless properly rated Vehicle Jack Stands in place at the factory-recommended Lifting Points." You're smart to be safe.
P21w is the bulb which is a 7506 bulb if you go to any Autoparts place, 7506na if u need the amber bulb. Look up a connector for a 7506 bulb that might fit your headlight.
Great video, Sarah. You're wiring skills are very impressive. Just so you know, the reason Ford used the same plugs as Audi is because they are European market plugs and are known as Deustch (sp.) connectors. They are Europe's answer to GMs Weatherpac connectors. Keep up the great work.
Sarah, I almost forgot. Those little bolts you showed us are called button head cap screws. They're the perfect fastener for your application. And the riv-nuts are the perfect way to secure them to the body of the car too.
Run the break and fuel lines inside the car Sarah, it will save you a Whole lot of trouble later on. As in both lines will be damaged from impacts, the skid plates will only protect the Stronger under carriage. Or else run them on the bottom of the floor along the chassis legs. Best of luck 😁 ( I own 2 Rally cars and involved in Rallying for 25 years )
The 4x4 hasn't been done so much but the driveshaft down the middle has. There are numerous Foci out there with anything from an old 302 V8 to a supercharged Mustang Cobra motor and RWD. Some solid rear axles and others with Mustang Cobra IRS. Ford Performance re-sold a kit/parts for the conversion plus I believe there were others out there. They come up for sale every now and then. Also, much rarer, is the one or two mid motor/RWD Foci. There was a company (in Florida, I believe) that was working on moving the Zetec to the back seat area. I know one of their prototypes had the Jackson Racing supercharger on it. Unfortunately they never went into mass production as far as I know.
In the 90's Ford and VW had a cooperation going on. They built the Galaxy and Sharan together. Above that they developed similar electronical components. Thats why you can find the same blinker housing on a 2000's Fiesta and Polo :) So that should explain why the plug on the Focus is an Audi/VW part
Using the button head Allen screws to mount the skid plates will look good until you need tp remove them again when the socket is full of hardened mud and crap, personally I'd go with flange bolts, or a conventional bolt with a washer or even a captive washer HTH
Stainless steel button head Allen bolts. You might consider adding a stainless fender washer with the bolt to have more surface area to hold the skid plates onto the frame!
There is a jumper wire you can add to run the low and high beams at the same time since the bulbs and reflectors are separate. That's what I did when I installed mine. Also, I have a spare, brand new Ford OEM multifunction switch that's never been installed...
My daily routine - Wake up sh!t, shower, shave. Drink Morning beverage Get to work - Go Army! Check for new S-n-T video… If yes then Yay If no then grumble (I know, I know, you work hard and probably have a social life) Check for any old videos I missed - Learn something new - Yay One more Morning beverage and get to work. In the RC rock Crawler world we use metal for everything like rock rails because the plastic is softer and grabs the rocks. Keep in mind that those are lightweight cars. It should function the same, metal being better, but the plastic will be cheaper and simple to replace down the road if need be. If i were to do it, id use plastic like you did, but id focus on a rigid plastic not like nylon. Dig the video, and i dig what youre doing to it.
In the VW world there are acouple aftermarket skidplates that are aluminum, "paner plate and full metal jacket" and the "Evolution skid plate" you could check them out for inspiration. Id go aluminum if possible. Even painted steel will eventually rust and try to share the rust with the rest of the car.
Back in the 1980's to rally prep our cars plastic wasn't an option.Brake lines would be run through the interior of the car and fuel tank relocated to the inside(smaller and behind a fire wall).Skid plates were only used to protect the engine and sump.Great video, keep it up.
Sarah, That was the best every three day video submission I seen you do in the last few months. Your mood was high. Your enjoyment doing the project was obvious. Your optimism was infectious and you were a joy to watch. I assume your health issues have taken a turn for the better and pray this continues. Thank You for a wonderful viewing experience.
Great job working with what you have available. Some advice, if you are working alone and need a hand. Use a jack or jack stand to hold the dumb end. Keep it up doing what you do!
There you are dressed in summer clothes for the heat, and here we are in Canada digging out from under a blizzard and waiting for the plows to clear the roads. *sigh* Love the progress on the car. Looks like it's gonna go well for you.
The difference between us guys on either side of the pond is that you guys seem way more productive.. I put it down to TEA! in England we stop for a Tea brake as a mini celebration for every hurdle "Jack the car up" - time for Tea got that rusty bolt free" - time for a Tea break..
I've been thinking about turning my '07 ford focus see hatchback into a rally car. So glad I saw some ideas on your channel. Only thing different is I'm gonna try making it all wheel drive
I’m about to mount one of those really big ceiling fans in my garage. It’s made of metal and is 6 feet wide and moves a ton of air. Really looking forward to it and luckily, it works with a remote so it only needs constant electricity vs switched. I can tap right into the garage door opener’s power.
There are plenty of P21s on VW/Audis and Mercedes. The ones from a 2009 (and several other years) ML 350 tail lights are easy to repurpose. I normally use 7506 bulbs as replacements, but not sure if the 7506 socket tabs are the same. Should be worth looking into.
I like your 16-35mm lens - that's a great lens to have and worth fixing. I work in a camera store that fixes and hires camera gear. We have 6x of these lenses and every weekend they get hired out amongst our long range lenses - except for this weekend as the F1 got cancelled here in Melbourne :-( stupid COVIT-19...
For your sockets when I worked in the body shop and we couldn't get a part like that we would use hot gloe from a hot glue gun because it comes off easy with rubbing alcohol takes it right off and you can get the hot glue in several colors
HPDE works great for skid plates, metal gets caught on stuff and can end up doing more damage than if there was no skid plate at all. Depends on location though as well.
Plastic can get beat up scratch up and replaced a lot easier when they go bad especially with simple rounded Alan wrench bolts holding it in. Sweet and simple
Classic CAD system. Cardboard-Aided Design.
Has Sarah never seen Project Binky??
@@rennkafer13 Get the funk out!
You are the first American women I've seen interested in rally.
Very good.
I just discovered this channel, and I'm so glad I did.
80's montage music is on point.
Quality content.
Yah this put me in a happy place.
Love your primo wiring and labeling skills, plus attention to detailing it! 😅
Sarah, that's what the Binky team call CAD - Cardboard Aided Design
Once again, amazing results with no help. That makes you amazing. Like everyone didn't already know that.
P21w is the bulb which is a 7506 bulb if you go to any Autoparts place, 7506na if u need the amber bulb. Look up a connector for a 7506 bulb that might fit your headlight.
10/10 for the yellow outfit. My goodness. 🥰
Another vote for more garage videos!
Now that's some good sheet.

you need BA15S Sarah. P21W is for the bulb I'm sure Amazon has them if, not eBay etc...
"You could run a driveshaft down the center of this thing"
oh HELL yes!! make it a 4x4 Focus!!!
Four by Focus 🤔
Sheet, that'd be awesome!

So wait installing a drive shaft can make a car 4wd?
Charles Aggenbach ahh, but it has been done 😉 bringatrailer.com/2017/12/21/cosworth-4x4-swapped-1999-ford-focus/
For living in Arizona, the underside of your car is CLEAN!. No packed on dirt or mud? Awesome I love how well you take care of your rides!
Geeez.... Sarah is better equipped than our dealership it seems....
Really good job girl. 👍 👧 It’s raining here too but it’s only like 35°F. So jealous of your weather. Take good care, from Sweden/Scandinavian
The Focus is LIT!
Thanks for showing the wiring - great video!
I’m obsessed with wiring and lighting.

I like how you explain what you are doing at the same time doing it
80's motiavtional music ...awesome. You do know your sheet. you are on a mission.....

Not sure why or how i got here but it was worth it. looking forward to seeing how this goes
I'm really digging the music selection in this episode, very nice choices.
Maldreyn thanks!
Using long legs as holding points while free hand cutting template. I like it, very resourceful

I seriously miss wiring and working on vehicles...

Looking awesome under the car. Getting the measurements on point. Great job!
You are one talented and skillful lady!!
Glad to see you mastering the use of CAD (Cardboard Aided Design)!
Thank you for your service to our country.
Cool 80's music vibe. It makes me smile 😉
Outstanding job on these projects that you do keep up the good work
Wow Sarah! Great jobs & video ❤️👍
Nice job on the wiring. You can tell a pro when they make it look easy.

ST170 have Black headlight. This are standard EU focus headlight. ST170, my first love.
Loved the euro wiring, I didn't realise it used VW connectors, if you ever fancy a swapping your rear lights for my euro rear lights let me know.😁
Very cool, can’t wait to see it finished and ripping through the back country. Cheers Sarah!
You are awesome lady keep it up with your videos 👌👌

Lovely Jubbly, full respect to you Sarah. Here in the UK that focus would have so much corrosion on it you just couldn't do what your doing to it.
I've been thinking about turning my '07 ford focus see hatchback into a rally car. So glad I saw some ideas on your channel. Only thing different is I'm gonna try making it all wheel drive
100% Badass!! Keep killing it!!
I like the how you indicate the points to make it easier to see what yr doin
Cars are coming along nicely. Of course we want to see "The Evolution of Sarah's Garage".
yup.
Wow! That is one beautiful mechanic under that car!
You are into men?
Cool 80’s tune into the mix for your video. 👊👊👊

I’m very impressed by the way you can get this done 👍😀
I am always so envious when I see you wire up something. It has always been a mystery for me. The fact im legit color blind does not help matters.
The only person I know who fixes cars in their underwear!
Good wire harness skills. Nice choice for button head cap screws too.
We use that sheet plastic inside semi dump trailer it lasts along time and is much more slicker than metal
Enjoyed your video . I always look forward to the next one . love them all .
Plastic skid plates is a clever idea.
Yeaahhhhh Garage video!!!!!! 😂😂😂
You had me at "chut up"...
Lexan all the things!
Plugs are usually made by an independant manufacturer and car companies choose who to buy from.. EG JAE, TE, Amphenol, Hirose
YAY SARAH!!
Keep kicking donkeys.....I mean ass!!🤪 That car is gonna be a blast in the dirt for sure.
Keep doing what you do and stay awesome!
Woohoo! Having lights is always a great thing. 👍🏻👏🏻
You’ll have a lift soon enough. You’ll see...
It’s coming along nicely! 👍🏻
Cool Kurt shirt.
As always - great content, fun to watch, informative! Thanks!
Great job
I like your 16-35mm lens - that's a great lens to have and worth fixing. I work in a camera store that fixes and hires camera gear. I have to say, once you get those installed, you’ve really got your sheet together.
Lol I’m a newbie to your Chanel absolutely LOVE your tattoo so sick, love watching your vids you rock !
For your sockets when I worked in the body shop and we couldn't get a part like that we would use hot gloe from a hot glue gun because it comes off easy with rubbing alcohol takes it right off and you can get the hot glue in several colors
Great idea using the plastic versus steel and/or aluminum. Very curious to see how it works
10/10 Yellow outfit. Video was very educational .....thx
As much as I want to see Mr. Dos hit the streets I am glad you are working on the Focus. Your offroad videos in this thing are going to be EPIC!!
Wow your mr2 is mint! My mate had the same red coloured one (right hand drive) as we same as Japan in New Zealand. His wasn’t turbocharged though.
For some reason your cardboard template reminded me of Ian Roussel and his "envisioning tools."
I would have never thought of plastic! Hopefully we will see how it holds up!
HPDE works great for skid plates, metal gets caught on stuff and can end up doing more damage than if there was no skid plate at all. Depends on location though as well.
