That's part of what I love about this whole series. They take characters that were relatively one-dimensional in the movies and really flesh them out more, make them more 'real' as it were.

Yeah, I just binged it, and was going to say the same thing. Each episode is better than the last, with the whole 2nd half of this season being some of the best the show has given. A TON happens in this season, and it really brings a lot to the table.

So often, a show will cut away from a conversation that you WANT to hear, while lingering on a conversation that's redundant exposition. I feel like Cobra Kai did the opposite. The cutaways were usually when characters were talking about things we already knew. Also, the show didn't fall into the trope of making the protagonists unusually dimwitted for the antagonist to appear smart. Terry Silver is a phenomenal villain, and was sincerely threatening this whole season, a brilliant depiction of a sociopath.

me too watched it all in one day ... So many things I can't wait for them to see and react to .. so many funny and emotional moments throughout the season. They really did land on gold with bringing back the Ralph and William duo. Ralph (Daniel) was always the hero in the 80s-90s but hands down William (Johnny) is so much the better actor now.
This season genuinely blew my mind. The first half of the season didn't quite pull me in like the other seasons but my god was the second half of the season incredible. My favorite Cobra Kai I've seen yet. You don't understand how excited I am to see your reaction to this season. This is the most tense I've been watching this show.
This season is hands down my favorite. I'm generally a quiet person not showing much emotion when I'm watching stuff, even if it's something I'm really into, but the last few episodes of this season I was screaming at the TV . I legit thought I was going to have an anxiety attack. It is soooo good.
@6:05 at least Miguel had the heart to call Sam. She was worried for his life and he didn't completely ghost her. However, shots fired back and forth in their phone call. Sam did hope he could cheer him on, but Miguel was afraid to open up to her about his complexities after their fallout at prom adding to Johnny's behavior sending him over the edge. I feel that they could have gotten to an understanding if she didn't hang up on a whim.
Well, Miguel clearly felt that his situation is more important than hers, which she reluctantly conceded. It's just that he lied to her about staying for her match.
I binged the season in one sitting, like so many others would have, because it was that good, so I'm really looking forward to the rest of your reactions! I do have one minor gripe, though. When we see Silver & Chozen toast and Chozen says 'karii', then Silver later says that that's how they toast in Okinawa whereas they toast 'kanpai', but if you look back to the first movie when Daniel walks in and Mr Miyagi is drinking, HE toasts "KANPAI!" every time.
What's hilarious is that as bad as The Next Karate Kid was, it launched a multiple Academy Award winning actress's career. I did NOT see that coming. EVER
I think since this is the first time you guys had to wait for the new season for the first time, you guys are having a similar reaction I have every time a new season starts. The episodes feel kind of rushed and awkward every new season for me. But then eventually they settle down and the show gets going again. I felt the same way with these two episodes. First episode was kind of slow and the second felt too rushed. But I cant wait to see what happens next and I'm going to be watching two episodes at a time to keep up with your reaction videos instead of binge watching the season! "Carmen" sounding "hot" is a reference to the opera "Carmen" about a fiery gypsy girl named "Carmen. The opera's main aria is "Habanera". I'm not sure if it has any connection to the "habanero" which is a kind of chili pepper.
On review .. this season is so good . Chozen was the MVP .. Another great addition to the show . The character arcs are sown up nicely. Silver is so good too , I actually kind of see his POV , like Thanos lol .
To not even watch the trailer, you guys have some will power. As with previous seasons, Cobra kai is the only show I will binge watch in one day and season 5 could potentially be the best season yet. Not giving anything away, but you're both in for a treat. Enjoy 🥋👊🏼🐍

Cobra Kai was always a sope opera, and that's fine but this season was just all over the place, illogical, cartoony and had worst production quality as well.

Like the Mexico stuff felt so rushed? And could’ve been so epic but it felt like there were a lot of missed opportunities. But I did love Daniel’s character this season

Okay, I'm reaching back quite a bit, but the Miyagi-do rule #1 of "Karate is for defense only" suddenly reminded of a scene from the old Adam West Batman series. Julie Newmar as Catwoman is trying to get away, but Adam West as Batman is between her and her escape route. She threatens Batman by telling him that she knows "cat-rate." Batman corrects her pronunciation of karate and tells her "Karate is for defense only. Therefore if I don't attack you, you can't attack me," and he just stands there smiling smugly. It was hilarious. The satire in that show was brilliant. I wish some of these young RUclipsrs would react to it.
I'm glad they established how much Chozen has become in his Martial Arts. LaRusso became the family guy/Car Dealership Owner, but Chozen dedicated his life to Karate...Yeah, his strikes & form...wow. No wasted movement at all...oh, Chozen vs Silver or anybody for that matter!?!?

Regarding the plot point of whether everyone will find out about the cheating, I think the first meeting between Chozen and Tory was telling. He spoke about honor and it's clear the honorable thing to do for Tory is to tell the truth but obviously for the moment she has decided against it.

We had all these cliff hangers setup and 2 episodes in its like ok all thats done...I also havent watched the trailer so no idea whats coming as well. Once silver found out who chosen was there was no way that he could even pretend that he was Daniel's enemy anymore because chosen is a master sensei of Miyagi do karate in Japan so any inquiry into his actual name would reveal that
If chozen really wanted to be an infiltrator, he could’ve made up a lie when he got caught and said that he wanted revenge on Daniel. Silver would’ve probably done his research and found out about their beef.

I watch this show with my best friend. One thing he pointed out that I love is what a good and honorable martial artist Miguel has become. Because he could have taken those surfer dudes apart, but he chose not to. Great character moment...and it made it all the more satisfying when Johnny and Robbie do it later :P
