You are 💯 right about Johnny congratulating Daniel after the tournament and Bobby apologizing to Daniel. It seems that those guys in Cobra Kai were bullied, too, and they were the misfits: Johnny, Dutch, Bobby, Tommy, etc. Kreese poisoned their minds and they became confident, but they became bullies. We can see a parallel here with Hawk and Dutch. You get the feeling that Dutch was a misfit who dyed his hair and changed his name, thus changing his persona.
Not really a comment on this particular video, but more an observation that the both of you are so much more comfortable and confident on camera and in your opinions and analysis of films and TV than you were a year ago. Also, you are freer in letting us get to know your personalities. I watched one of your older videos and it's great to see the progression.
I agree. Not that the early ones weren't great, but they do seem a lot more comfortable now.
Xolo (Miguel’s Actor) said this was his first kiss and that a lot of shots at Golf n Stuff were cut from the episode because they ran out time because he was still 17 at the time. Just a fun fact.

The thing I love about Daniel and Johnny is that they are much more alike than either would like to admit. Their karate styles are different, but they’re both a couple of hard heads who have a hard time letting go of the past.
It’s bedtime for me, but I’m all over this when I get up for work at 3am!

You're gonna like it, I guarantee it. A great pair of episodes of course but TBR and Sam's analysis is probably my favorite in the series so far.
I used to see reaction vid thumbnails and used to think " who the fuck would watch a video about ppl watching a video" and now I'm doing the same and waiting for new vids. Never gonna knock things before I try it. This reaction channel def hooked me in and I'm glad I took the chance. You guys are great 👍
Oh one more thing- I do believe the song that was playing during the Golf&Stuff non date, was the same song that was playing during Daniel and Ali's date at the same place.
I'm so glad you were able to discern that Johnny used selective memory when telling Miguel what happened between him and Daniel. I've seen so many Johnny apologist who state that Johnny's version is accurate lol. If you notice Johnny conveniently left out the bicycle and "cliff" incident to steer the story in his favor lol.
Also left out that he did hit Daniel first before Daniel sucker punched him.

But if the movies are Daniel telling his own version of the story, how do you know Daniel's version isn't the one using selective memory?

Same! TBR Schmitt is my favorite reaction channel, and CK is my favorite series. And their Cobra Kai reaction videos are by far the best on RUclips!
What I love about Sr. Miyagi training is that he teach random stuff at first, but when it comes into actually fight, those random stuff actually pay off. All the time, they were training without realizing that! Its funny how Johnhy have one style and Daniel have other, but both styles are different faces of the same coin.
The point of the flashback is that no one is a villain in their own story. Johnny's take is real from his perspective.
Daniel did strike first. But Johnny could’ve been a bit more gentle telling Daniel to back off. But definitely a different perspective

One thing I learned watching the Cobra Kai series was that every time I tried to predict and guess what was gonna happen or where the show was gonna go with this or that part of the story or what this or that person was gonna do, I was wrong almost every time. And that was a good thing. The writing on this show is really top notch, and every aspect of all the stories and layers seems very well thought out. You want to *think* you know what's coming next, but you never really do, and what the show gives you is usually waaay better than anything you could've predicted.
Not sure if you guys will see this or not, but this show is filmed in and around Atlanta, GA. So the lake they were practicing at was somewhere in north Georgia. As far as the shots of LA, those are just pickup shots filmed at the beginning or end of the season. Just thought you'd like to know! Really enjoy your channel, guys!

Also, S1 is so clever in subverting the image of Johnny as a cool, collected, popular kid that you would want to be like (from KK1) to show he was really a poor kid just trying to get by, and lashing out because his home life sucks.
Johnny may not always show the best judgment, but he means well! 😂
Ralph Machiio was 57 years old during season one of Cobra Kai (he was 22 playing teenaged Daniel Larusso in The Karate Kid in 1984) and he is 60 years old now. Both he and William Zabka (Johhny Lawrence) have aged like fine wine and still look much younger than they actually are.
Ralph has aged amazingly, yes, but William.... errrrrr, let's just say William must not have used moisturizer ever in his life.
At 1:24, you may remember that Mr. Miyagi did not teach the jacking up of the car or even sweeping with a broom. Even Daniel LaRusso learned enough to implement new techniques into Miyagi Karate.
Johnny loves to leave out that they pushed Daniel down a cliff while he was on his bike and the trip on the soccer field.
And the fact that after the hose he was trying to beat Daniel to death lol to the point that even Bobby told him to stop and Bobby had gotten punched in the face by Daniel on the soccer field, that’s how BRUTAL Johnny was acting against Daniel that even Bobby defended him

It's funny because they're pretending like this rivalry goes back to "20 years ago", but in real-time it's been over 35 years, which is a ridiculously long time to have such an immature rivalry. But I love it for the sake of nostalgia and entertainment.

I'm not sure if they caught it, they've only seen KK once, but the Golf n Stuff music was exactly the same as when Daniel and Ali had their date, as well as taking the pictures together. Very nostalgic for us old people.

In truth, the song “Young Hearts” used in this episode was used when Daniel and Ali make up, not during their first date. “Feel the Night” played during Daniel and Ali’s date but wasn’t used in this episode. Regardless, I agree with your sentiment.

I know Miguel's feelings all to well. I dated a girl, who I was head over heels for, but she never wanted me to meet her parents, even after 6 months. That's a painful sting.

All the people in Cobra Kai who were in the original movie(s) are the same people from those same movies. They never switched them up to new people which is very very cool!

This show is genius on so many levels!! First of all, the Karate Kid was one of my favorite movies growing up. Loved Mr. Miyagi’s brand of Karate. Cobra Kai forces you to see both Johnny and Daniel differently than you did in the first movie.
Also, it makes Karate the “Star of the Show”.
The self-confidence, toughness, determination, work ethic, discipline, and physical fitness it helps grow in all its students becomes the real story of these episodes. No matter if it’s Cobra Kai or Miyagi-Do Karate.
I always thought Golf n Stuff is a perfect first date for kids of their age, or for folks of any age really. Fun. No pressure. Time to talk and interact. I actually can’t think of a better first date.
Back in the day (high school years), we also went bowling, roller skating, house parties and drive-in movies. Dating was fun back then!

The lake scene was shot at Sweetwater creek in Lithia Springs, GA. The All-Valley is shot at my Alma Mater in Marietta, GA
the locations are in atlanta.. everything but the city scenes are filmed in the suburbs of atlanta. The Golf and stuff is in my town about 30 min south of the city.. haha
I love the whose the man scene, it's just a nice moment of bonding for Miguel and Johnny.

The producers said they'd love to get Hillary Swank to appear in an upcoming season. So, you might want to watch The Next Karate Kid.
I was actually just thinking about that movie. It's not the greatest but it's worth watching for Miyagi, if nothing else.
Also, you got me thinking, it would be kind of cool to see Swank's character meet Daniel.
and Hilary Swank has been in talks about the possibility of appearing in a future season
I honestly don’t think The next Karate kid was a terrible movie, it’s nothing compared to the others but it’s defintley watchable and I love Michael Ironside as a villain lol

I know I shouldn't be so focused on this as a man in his 40s, but what the hell were they thinking when they gave the Robby character that haircut??? It's seriously straight out of the 90s. It distracted me the whole first season. Like did the styling director not realize people haven't had that style for like 25 years or what??? Had they not worked since the 90s? I don't know why this pissed me off so much but it did, it's just lazy research. Anyway glad they changed it after the first season. Great review guys!
Yes, this is supposed to be the devils punch bowl where they visited that bonsai tree in the third movie, which looks nothing like the wilderness there in then it is roughly 277 miles from Encino California to that location in southern Oregon.

Johnny takes his students to a junkyard and has dogs 🐕 attack them. LOL.
You have to watch the outtake where miguele sees Robby the Laruso family and he walks up to Robby and they play fight haha.
The problem with street smarts is you can't use it in school. The amount of crap life can ruin you with that isn't taught in school is kind of ridiculous.
I love how effective communication would end the whole Cobra Kai franchise.

18:01 I'm 39 years old and I watched the original Karate Kid when I was young. When I watched this scene it gave me Nostalgia goosebumps and euphoric vibes. And since you just watched the movies recently you don't know how this scene hits the feels.

This is a really great TV Series, but it's a shame they film most of it in Atlanta GA, not in Southern California. Having lived in the San Fernando Valley, I can only give this a 9 out of 10 as I can clearly see the difference in terrain and most of the street scenes that aren't actually shot on the West Coast. Otherwise, I've enjoyed watching all of the Cobra Kai seasons so far.
This show is way better than it has any right to be...

Randee Heller, who plays Mrs. LaRusso, also played Mrs. Blankenship, the cranky secretary in Mad Men.
Golf N' Stuff is from the first movie, where Daniel went with Ali. Cool, right? The first season got a 10 on Rotten Tomatoes. The rest of the seasons got a bit less, but not low by any means. BTW, the music while Daniel and Robby were doing the Kata in nature, was the the original from the first movie.
I was blown away when the show came out. Always look forward to a new season .

It's painful to me how Daniel shows Robby to just throw a jack under the car without checking what he's lifting against.
But not as painful as seeing that Firebird get destroyed.
Yes Golf N Stuff is a real place. 🤩 There are a few around but they filmed (I think) the original in Downey. CA where I grew up. Still there! Btw love your reactions!!

I am fully on team Johnny even with his view of the original film. Daniel was often a bully in that one especially if you only watch scenes Johnny was in and not know anything else. Daniel is a hot tempered jerk and still is in this show. But the show allows us to see both back stories and see each character as good guy with flaws.
Johnny ganged up on him with 4 other guys and almost killed Daniel... but you think Daniel was a bully?? yikes.
They shoot the show in Atlanta because it's apparently cheaper to shoot there. Stranger Things is filmed there too.
Golf n Stuff is in Norwalk, California. I used to go there all the time.
