The bolts and nuts to take off the rear bumper is 18mm, not 3/4". So for anyone doing it on their own with basic tools is a 18mm socket and a 18mm end wrench bonus is you'll need a 15mm socket wrench and 15mm endwrench to take off the small brackets from the frame off. I was cussing you and your friend today at the junkyard 😂
Replacing my replacement bumper with a 99 Tahoe as well from the junkyard with a Tow hitch underneath, the yard forgot to pull off the brackets from the frame that go with it.... another trip tomorrow to get those and we should be good, my GMC is a 95 model, same color, and with 350,530.0 miles and going strong. Good basic video.
@@joseoneway5065 The 99 Tahoe factory bumper fit fine, however I had to fabricate frame extensions with 3 inch by 3/8ths X 13 inches in length, flat steel and drill new holes to fit. I also got the GM tow hitch under bumper unit with it. That was a whole different animal. Had to use 3 inch heavy wall square tubing as a spacer between the bottom of the frame rails to the tow hitch rails and bolt them up with grade 8 bolts to the frame and hitch. The hitch comes in about 1 inch below the factory chrome bumper and the receiver is flush with the edge of the chrome one. I used the tow hitch because it has a 10,000 pound towing capacity and can use different receiver hitch options. It is like a draw tite hitch.. Good luck. Thanks for asking. both look good, and look like factory, which they are. thanks for asking.
I forgot to mention, I used the original frame bolt holes for both the factory chrome and hitch, I had to only drill holes in the fabrication pieces. The yard owner told me that a Surburban bumper would not fit, hence the Tahoe.
Forrest Anderson the is buddy lots of great information about it . I do appreciate. I do want to add the hitch under the pumper so I’m glad you mention that to me . Happy new year.
Excellent video. I am about to go to the BYOT and remove the one I saw on a Tahoe yesterday for my 1994 CK1500 so I watched your video to avoid any surprises. It appeared that your 3/4 socket worked well, but I will also bring an 18mm with me. I also live in Texas. When the new license plates were issued with the blood red sky, I feared that it was prophecy for the end of days but so far so good.
Did it touch the bed to? Mine one side touchs and one side is like two inchs away from the bed. I dont know if thats just the bumper or the brakets need to be replaced to.
Working on a 94 k1500 here in michigan in 23'. Bolts are insanely crusty still after pb blaster and a gentle scrub with a wire brush. Will be using an angle grinder on all 4 to zip them off..
You had me laughing my a&$ off this entire video. "So it doesn't fall on your face......Bumpers are heavy...examine how bad it looks...Using a hammer to make slight adjustments...". 🤣🤣🤣
Sorry, I don't have the old bumper anymore so I can't make a video. But I believe the molding is just held on by some nuts and in some places it's just rubber pegs that you push through in other spots. Should be pretty easy to remove.
woooo so u never sprayed any rust preventing on it like under-coating ot por-15... or anything.... i mean since it's all good n way straight the new one i'm meaning........ wow..... I WOULD HAVE

Commentary is great in the video

I was wondering if that year bumper would fit my truck, your video cleared that up! Thanks!
Wow I don’t know I can use this bumper from a 99 model . Thanks for great video. You should make more videos about this Chevy .
I just sold it unfortunately! Held on to it for 17 years, but I wasn't giving it the attention it deserved anymore. Thanks for watching.

Very informative! I'll be sure to follow these instructions when I replace my rear bumper this summer
Great work. And yeah that should be 18mm. But a 3/4 works just fine.
Thank you! Doing mine in a few weeks. Found em brand new on amazon
This was funny and informative. Straight to the point. Thanks!
If a hitch is installed, does the hitch need to be removed prior to the bumper?

Where can I find mounts for a 1998 Cheyenne c1500 truck
Did you put the mounting brackets on first to the frame then the bumper? The brackets on mine are attached to bumper & it’s difficult to fit in (?).
This is the most realistic step-by-step instruction car repair video I have ever seen. Better than Chrisfix, Scotty, and ETCG.
Lmao! Great video, man! I'll be referring to this when fixing up my 88' Chevy Cheyenne 3500!
Great! Good luck and thanks for watching
Great video.
You made it look so easy but we know better ..... LoL
How much you pay for the bumper?
Video made me laugh 😂 🤣 good commentary
Will 97 yukon bumper fitt my 94 chevy truck,,,???
The right side of my bumper is a little saggier than the left could it it be just the brackets
how much did you pay for used bumper
Is it easier to work at night?
I don't recommend it. Lol
is it posaible to remove/replace the molding on the bumper if so can you make a tutorial

How do I find the paint for that truck
Do you know if the front and back bumpers from a 1995 silverado fit from a suburban 2500
Very likely, the trucks are almost the exact same throughout the years. It should go on with little to no modification
Cant really find an answer but will the rear bumper on a straight bed fit on a stepside?
I was told it won't. My buddy who helped me in this video has a stepside, and when I offered him my old bumper he said the brackets wouldn't line up.
Big Hush Ahh ok makes sense then thanks for the response
Are you underneath the truck I can't even tell where you're getting the bolts out at
Are u serious
Where else would they be?
They show step by step on video where the bolts are removed and installed.
What is paint code
First you remove the license plate with one hand. 🤣😂🤣😂
You never mentioned the bolt size other than that I'm doing that shit buddy thx
Sorry about that. I wish I could remember now. Good luck!
Looks like you had a stepside bumper on before?
Manual labor is manual labor 😂
