Hello sir. I don't agree with your statement that the Middle Eastern people are rude as I have a lot of UAE local friends and also people from other middle eastern countries and they have been the most hospitable people I have ever seen and is also friendly and kind.
Greeks are very proud of Aegean. When olympic airways shut down we were sad to lose a great airline flying around the globe but now we have an airline which is profitable and doesnt need state money to operate.
Aegean is the flag carrier of Greece, and brought a massive upgrade to the conditions of flying. Currently ha placed an order for 46 320 and 321 neos and introduced the new identity. Always a pleasure to fligh with them. Friendly crew, nice service, the lounges are nice and the customer service is phenomenal.
I flew on Aegean for the first time this year, and it was only an island hop. Even on the short hop I found them hospitable, and pleased with the service….they actually had a service on the 35 min flight. I will most remember the flight by sitting next to a first time and very nervous flyer. She grabbed me on take-off, and never let go until after we landed. I found it cute, and glad I could be helpful.
Aegean Airlines is a world class airline and one of my favorite air carriers. Their only drawback is that they don't operate long haul flights to the US or Canada.
Thanks for the review, Josh! I have flown Aegean a couple of times and I found them to be above average other European carriers; they distributed menu cards, but that was pre-COVID times and you had at least two choices, if I remember well. Crews were very nice and engaging. A great airline with a limited network... for my needs. Happy New Year, 2022!
I flew with them during the pandemic. The same experience. I preordered my meal and there was a menu card with the alcoholic and soft drinks and two other meal choices.
Last year I flew with Aegean in business. You can preselect your meal when booking. In my case, it was a meal with fish and octopus salad. Onboard, they distributed menu cards and there was choice of two other meals but I got the one I had preordered. So maybe they simply ran out of meal options. My impression was that their food was really good and very well presented. We also got some specialty chocolates.
Flew on Aegean between Athens and Santorini and I was so impressed! I did my Dublin - Athens leg with Aer Lingus but next time I think the price difference with Aegean will be worth it
From what I've heard, the meal service options were cut back because of COVID tanking demand, so the costs were cut a bit to cover the difference; will be fixed by summer, they promised (we'll see) Great review Josh!
Josh, Aegean always has at least 2 options. I recently flew them from Amsterdam to Athens in business class, and I was given 3 options. In that case, I’m sure they ran out of food.
the first 7 rows of the A321neo have more legroom than the other rows of the aircraft. Same applies for the A320neo. I have flown on Aegean's neo aircraft more than 5 times now on 3 different airframes (SX-NEA, SX-NEB and SX-NAD) and it was the same across all the aircraft.
If you think passengers grabbing for their overhead luggage and queueing for the exit before the plane stops only happens in Cairo, you should come to Dhaka on a Biman flight, preferably a late night arrival..😂
I got to fly Aegean trwice last autumn, all in all I really enjoyed my stay onboard. Especially them offering complementary snack boxes in economy is a nice treat, but one major problem I have with their standard A320 is the leg room. I'm 1.9 m and the configuration was pretty tight, I spread my legs and my knees were still touching the seat in front of me. I had better experiences on airlines like e.g. Eurowings, which is strange as EW usually installs one row more on their A320s than Aegean does. Anyways, the service onboard still outweighs the seat pitch and I'd love to fly them again!
I’m an expat that has been living in the Middle East for almost 9 years and the entire Middle East culture seems to think they have to challenge themselves to get up and get luggage before the wheels even come out the plane for landing (joking of course, but for sure they all get up as soon as it lands and slows down - and they listen to NO ONE - often passengers are rude to the staff when they are being told to sit.- it’s ridiculous and one of my biggest pet peeves!! Anyway, this was very helpful for me- I fly a lot but have never flown this airline and I do know European airlines are small and I’m 5’9” and a size 14-16 woman .. so I wanted to see how small this was … but not too bad - will do business into Barcelona - thanks 😊 Continue safe travels
I have flown ATH-CAI with A3 back in 2016, and I have to say the experience in ATH felt a bit rough toward flights bound for the Middle East during the late-night departure bank. Arab-looking passengers had documentation checks at the boarding just like on this video, while other passengers just got through. Also, along with another departing A3 flight to the Middle East next gate (could have been Beirut, can't remember correctly), they were using bus gates. In the meanwhile, Tel Aviv bound flight was departing from the jet bridge gate 🙂
Wait, you complain? Don't you require all Europeans and Americans to buy extra visa on the spot? Greece treats Israel exactly as Israel treats Greece. Our relationship is in perfect standing. Expect fair affairs. You hassle Europeans, expect some hassle as well.
"Also, along with another departing A3 flight to the Middle East next gate (could have been Beirut, can't remember correctly), they were using bus gates" So, you're basing this on just two flights? Lots of flights use remote stands, including many domestic/European ones.
Jumping up & grabbing your bag before the plane has stopped moving is common throughout the Middle East, not just Egypt. If you play by the rules, you're more than likely to end up at the back of a very long immigration queue!
I feel like this is the same situation in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Western Asia. Mostly older men are extremely disrespectful to gate agents. I worked on a placement in Dublin Airport and I don’t know why but they seem to always be in a rush. Great video as always.
As an arab, sadly not only old men are disrespectful, people never wait in line they sit in crowds trying to pass first which takes more time for them to actually finish, no manners in driving nor in public, everyone for him/herself
Hi Josh. People grabbing their things from the overhead lockers isn't just restricted to Europe. I recently flew from Melbourne to the Gold Coast, and one very stupid male passenger actually stood up, opening his overhead locker to get his stuff, while the plane was on its final decent into the Gold Coast.!!! The plane was probably just a few hundred metres from the ground, and the cabin staff were calling out repeatedly for this idiot to sit down !
So if he fell and hurt himself I'm sure he would try and blame the airline.... I remember years ago was on a domestic Olympic airways flight and a lady next to turned her mobile on and made a call as we were turning onto the runway! I told her off she ignored me then I yelled at her and she got the message and switched it off. Some people no words....
@@andrewpitt7742 Well I think this guy thought it would make him first off the plane. We were in a 737, and he was in about row 8...but I was in row 1, and use a walking stick, so, between me being quite slow, and the other passengers in business class, we all ( conveniently) took our time getting our stuff, and exiting the plane. Subtle way of revenge, I guess.😂
We were on a BA flight once where passengers got up before the aircraft got to the gate. The crew certainly made it know that they should sit down. Why didn't the crew tell them to #$$%#@& sit down??
I actually befriended an Egyptian bro on a flight from DXB- SGP and he was talking to me non stop, eventhough it was an overnight flight. He was sitting behind me, and started to laugh loudly and kicking the back of my seat. Even told off an air steward for telling him to keep the noise down. Was so pissed and I told him nicely that I want to have a good sleep because I had work the next day, only then he kept his noise down and took a nap too.

By the way it's traditional in Greece to serve food lukewarm. The Greeks consider that food is tastier if it's not too hot.
