Universal exceeded my expectations when my family and I went in 2021. Even with COVID restrictions, we had the absolute best time. We stayed in the parks for hours. Definitely a favorite over Disney. I love Disney so much, been to Disneyland and Disney world, but universal felt more inviting.
Going to Universal on my last trip was something long overdue. Universal keeps moving forward where Disney just keeps plodding along riding its reputation which is just not all that good right now.

I love that Universal will be providing access to their Epic Universe park via Brightline. I was groomed by Federated back in the 80's and with them customer service was paramount. I am glad to see Universal extend the same level of courtesy to their patrons especially after disney declined to facilitate their guests with a station. It seems Universal is waging full frontal assault on disney and it's casting a stark light on disney's many shortcomings. At the moment, Universal is KILLING it 👍👍👍
I think that the family friendly park here in Texas is a feeler/ ice breaker. I truly believe that if this park succeeds Uni will build more and bigger. At least I hope lol. I'd love to have a Uni park within a few hours of me.
The 2 value hotels at epic universe are supposed to be space themed and are sister hotels. Same type of layout as surf n dockside. Can't wait for this !

For sure. First time I’ve seen any ground level shots of the hotels being built. There’s def something going on with that hotel that leads me to believe it’s going to be highly themed. You don’t design curves and shapes to the concrete like that for a generic ‘surf’ or ‘beach’ themed hotel like some of their other newer hotels.
I just had a thought... thus hotel really looks like it will be ready 6 months or so before EU opens officially. Plus, Nintendo World is further along than any of the other lands. Is it possible that Universal is planning to open the hotel and Nintendo World months b4 the entire new park!? If so, is that really a good idea?
Disney approached my family about 6 years ago to buy our land to create another park in Northwest New Mexico. They pulled out last minute once the town refused to agree to an interstate exit
Always loved Universal and have had a holiday in Orlando in the past for 2 weeks with no Disney and just Universal every day. We honestly had a fantastic time and it can only get better with the opening of Epic Universe. Thank you for the exciting updates! Can’t wait!

Now for Super Nintendo World in Hollywood the size was was smaller due to the limited space. So in my opinion they were trying to give them something. The one in Epic Universe will be way better and it will put Disney on NOTICE.
We are very excited for Epic, but a little nervous, too! Seems like it’s going to be huge! We like being able to do Studios or IOA in a day. Also hoping once it opens that Hagrid’s will get express lane, but not holding our breath! 😂
Haha I don’t think Hagrid’s will ever utilize that express line but that would be very nice! Don’t be nervous because massive theme parks are a lot more fun.
Universal is definitely stepping up there game and taking advantage of disneys mess ups lately. We are in Texas near Frisco where the new park is going and we are so excited to see what they bring!! Im not going back to Disney unless some major things change, so glad Universal is stepping it up. Disney has turned on its base. Universal is tearing it up.
The difference is glaringly obvious - Disney announcements are basically fixing things they’ve broken themselves for no reason, or neglected, whereas Universal announcements are related to innovative and new actual additions to their portfolio. The mouse needs to hit the overdrive catch up button imho (even if they have some big, miraculously awesome blue sky dreamin thing in the wings, ground has not been broken. And we see how long it’s taken to get Tron 🤷🏾♀️)
If anything I just hope this wakes up Disney as I want them to make big moves and move more quickly. I’m not one of those team Disney or team Universal type of people. All the theme parks in central Florida are meant to be enjoyed. This is definitely exciting to hear though
It might sound weird but the windows in that hotel make me think of an aquarium. I wonder if it will be a digital window like the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser.

As you were saying universal taking over the theme park industry o heard a few rumours that universal is trying to acquire portaventura theme park ferrari land and a waterpark in Spain near Barcelona Salou 🤔 I'm hoping they could make spain their European home as Paris is to Disney and of course bring all their IPs here ....

Something I think everyone already knows is that Disney is terrified of expansion right now It doesn't matter where in this country that they do it The recent additions to the park both in Florida and in Anaheim have not met with the proper financial returns that they expected the other thing is that fans are looking at it in a lot of different ways and here's the reason Both Marvel and Star Wars as brands don't belong in Disney parks you could do a whole theme park just on Marvel and Star Wars and I think that is where they should be looking to do those kinds of things but don't combine them with Disney
This park is going to be a great upgrade to Universal. I love Universal and been annual pass holder for years...taking a break till all new stuff opens later this year and get first bids to epic pass but brightline train is a great transportation option and having the buses bring you to the resort.
Project 912 (current hotel being built) is either the Terra Luna or the Stella Nova Hotel. The first of the two sister hotels may be completed in 2024, and both will be a space theme which makes sense with the roundish windows.
Universal Studios Orlando ROCKS!!! :-) Even after the pandemic they’re STILL as awesome as EVER! Still offering the same great perks for resort-guests, INCLUDING their “Express Pass”. They didn’t copout like DISNEY! I truly hope Bob Eiger can bring back the magic in Disney World, and restore it to its former glory! I know it’ll never be exactly the same, but so much still has to change back for the better, because Bob PayCheck ruined it.. So happy he’s gone! Universal is amazing, and I can’t wait to go back sometime in the future! :-)
Anyone else feel like Disney can't keep up with universal? Universal just keeps getting bigger which means more money for the company which will translate to better experiences for guests. The one thing that Universal needs to address BIG TIME is their ride restrictions. Tall and bigger people can't ride, even though the ride locks and you are more than good to go. That little yellow pop out shouldn't be the end all for someone to ride. Just make it a little more unrestricted, and it'll be perfect. But sometimes they are just unrealistic with they body size (especially in America)on some of those rides like the Mummy and Gringots
That's down to the ride designer and physics. Every ride aims to accommodate many body types but there will always be the too small and too tall on intense rides because safety is paramount.
Universal regularly advertises hotels for under $100/night, which are very, very nice. The cheapest Disney hotel is routinely 160+. Disney stopped caring about the average family while catering to demographics with deep pockets, despite pretending they care about "the little guy." Universal is like, come on over to us. The water is fine!
Thanks for the updates….we are big Disney fans but find the past 7 years we have been spending more time at Universal/Island of Adventure… more for the kids to do as they got older..and Universal keeps evolving!!!!

Just returned to the UK from a post Christmas trip and got to say enjoyed Universal so much more than Disney, the whole vibe of the place and the general atmosphere.
The way Dev was talking about the single Disney park hopping update and then ends it with "whatever" then goes back to announcing the very many worthy updates from Universal LOL I live in Vegas so I absolutely gasped when I heard about the permanent HHN attraction here! Dev you’re such an inspiration man! I’ll be launching my Vlog page soon this year! I’m extremely proud of Universal. I truly believe the Epic Universe is not the end for them as I’m really believing that they will eventually add yet another theme park in that same area. The formula to transform the large parking lot into Parking decks has worked very well in the past and I’d like to think it’s somewhat of a foreshadowing that the “Universe” is has more places for us to explore! We took advantage of the 4 day park ticket (2 days free) at Universal Studios two weeks ago and squeezed in one day at Magic Kingdom (a last minute decision). This is the first time we have ever done a “Universal Trip” to Orlando and not a “Disney Trip”. In our opinion, Universal is really pulling ahead of Disney in creativity and ride creation. I think Universal has done well to move away from relying so heavily on the virtual technology and returning to more traditional rides. It’s hard to explain, but Universal feels so current and cutting edge, and Disney (MK) felt very…“the same”…for lack of a better way to put it. Perhaps it’s because we’ve been to Disney so many times, I’m not sure, but by the end of the day, there wasn’t really anything I felt I needed to do again. We didn’t feel like we needed any additional days at Disney, where as in years past we were so sad to leave. It’s hard to pin point what exactly it is that is such a detractor from the experience now? Perhaps it’s the complexity of navigating the entire park, all for rides that while nostalgic, don’t offer a ton of thrills. Maybe it’s the age of our kids, 11 and 14, wanting more excitement and thrills?? For us, universal really checks those boxes. The one suggestion I would make to Universal is to shift a little focus on food options that are more dispersed throughout the parks, specifically in IOA. Otherwise we had a great time! Really enjoyed being able to walk from our hotel easily, training to the other park easily, and even jumped out of the park once or twice to eat at City Walk. It was a really fun trip!
Basically universal is building a Lego land in TX? Aren’t Disneyland parks mostly kid family friendly to begin with? It’s nice to have rides for adults!
Universal gets what I want and that is to live my vacation experience like I am in a movie 🍿 I want affordable tickets and I want to be randomly surprised as I walk around the park. I experienced none of this my last Disney trip the experience was static. I have 4 universal trips planned this year

I agree. Disney should have started expanding 12 years ago. I don't go near the place now, it's too stressful (crowds, long lines, short tempers).

Since Disney has fumbled Star Wars hotel and I would say fumbled galaxy’s edge. Universal could knock it out of the park if they did Nintendo correct

The way Dev was talking about the single Disney park hopping update and then ends it with "whatever" then goes back to announcing the very many worthy updates from Universal LOL I live in Vegas so I absolutely gasped when I heard about the permanent HHN attraction here! I’m extremely proud of Universal. I truly believe the Epic Universe is not the end for them as I’m really believing that they will eventually add yet another theme park in that same area. The formula to transform the large parking lot into Parking decks has worked very well in the past and I’d like to think it’s somewhat of a foreshadowing that the “Universe” is has more places for us to explore! Cheers to that IOA sized sister park I’m personally hoping to see come to the new Epic Universe resort area

We took advantage of the 4 day park ticket (2 days free) at Universal Studios two weeks ago and squeezed in one day at Magic Kingdom (a last minute decision). This is the first time we have ever done a “Universal Trip” to Orlando and not a “Disney Trip”. In our opinion, Universal is really pulling ahead of Disney in creativity and ride creation. I think Universal has done well to move away from relying so heavily on the virtual technology and returning to more traditional rides. It’s hard to explain, but Universal feels so current and cutting edge, and Disney (MK) felt very…“the same”…for lack of a better way to put it. Perhaps it’s because we’ve been to Disney so many times, I’m not sure, but by the end of the day, there wasn’t really anything I felt I needed to do again. We didn’t feel like we needed any additional days at Disney, where as in years past we were so sad to leave. It’s hard to pin point what exactly it is that is such a detractor from the experience now? Perhaps it’s the complexity of navigating the entire park, all for rides that while nostalgic, don’t offer a ton of thrills. Maybe it’s the age of our kids, 11 and 14, wanting more excitement and thrills?? For us, universal really checks those boxes. The one suggestion I would make to Universal is to shift a little focus on food options that are more dispersed throughout the parks, specifically in IOA. Otherwise we had a great time! Really enjoyed being able to walk from our hotel easily, training to the other park easily, and even jumped out of the park once or twice to eat at City Walk. It was a really fun trip!
It does not matter that universal is building another park. Disneyworld will always be busy! It is cool to see though!

Basically universal is building a Lego land in TX? Aren’t Disneyland parks mostly kid family friendly to begin with? It’s nice to have rides for adults!

Universal gets what I want and that is to live my vacation experience like I am in a movie 🍿 I want affordable tickets and I want to be randomly surprised as I walk around the park. I experienced none of this my last Disney trip the experience was static. I have 4 universal trips planned this year

If you have seen videos of Super Nintendo world in California you know that universal has surpassed Disney at this point. When epic universe opens universal will be the number 1 theme park by a long shot
I will say that Universal's theme parks are superior. But, Disney still owns the resorts. And, the fireworks shows, of course.
Man the hatred of Disney is getting frustrating to watch. Many of us are just Disney people and not feeling Universal. It’s cool to love both but bash one over the other?
I’m not bashing anyone but I do speak facts. I enjoy both companies but Disney needs to step up big time because Universal is taking over!

Sure I wish they were cheaper but that can be said for everything around me. Food, gas, etc. you know what I mean.
