  • I am excited to announce my next two stroke rebuild project. We are going to be going big on this one. Tune in to find out what I have in store for my 1999 Kawasaki KX250. As with all of my two stroke dirt bike project builds, I will be completely tearing this bike down to the frame and rebuilding it back up. Every single piece will be touched. Enjoy!

It brings me relief watching another person go through almost identical woes when working on their 99. My exact same gas tank bolt spun, I repaired with a jb weld epoxy and it appears to be holding up fine. I also force myself to no longer use power tools on it because how easy it is to strip stuff in general. Can’t wait to see how it turns out!

Right on Jonathan! I had to share the real experience. I was also wondering if because I used the impact gun, it just blasted it too much. I'm going to grab some of that JB weld epoxy since that's what you used too. I appreciate you mentioning that's what you used and it works!

My 2002 kx250 has a worn out lower shock bearing race. It’s literally so bad that the bearing when fully seated has a gap between the cage & race. I’ve temporarily repaired this with JB weld but this seems so common on 99-02 kx250s that had neglected linkages.
This part is no longer available from Kawasaki and there is no used ones online for sale. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do if my JB weld fix doesn’t hold up as the bearing will just keep caving itself in otherwise.
    Thanks
