This has to be one of the most stacked Final Fours in recent memory. All four #1 seeds made it:
    - Memphis with Derrick Rose
    - UCLA with Kevin Love

Before the 3 point shot they were often relegated to a passing role, and they were considered less valuable than a big man who could bang inside. The shot is more or less a way to level out importance of the positions

I remembered that Memphis was the best team in the nation this 2007-2008 season, even starting the season 26-0, and only had one loss the whole season until this final game against Kansas. Their other loss was against Tennessee.
But they had one huge problem during the season before the tournament started, and it was their free throw making abilities (or lack of it).
I think they were the worst free-throw-shooting-team in the whole country.
Many wondered if the free throws were gonna bite them in a game in the tournament. And well, it did this game

I remember all season everyone was talking about how bad Memphis’s free throw shooting was, so much so that Calipari actually got asked about it during an interview. Clearly, he was tired of hearing about it, and he responded by saying that when he evaluated the 25 most important aspects of a basketball player, free throw shooting was number 26. The irony of that statement, considering if they’d just made their free throws down the stretch, Chalmers’s miracle three wouldn’t have even come into play, and Memphis would’ve been the ‘08 champs.... which they would’ve had to later vacate due to D-Rose’s NCAA violations. But still.

Last time I checked Wade had 41 points against the Pacers in the previous round and Chalmers had 25 points in game 4
vs the Thunder including a clutch drive and layup at the end of the game a LeBron did not have "50+" points he had 45, if u don't know about the game don't talk about it

John Callapari kind of blew this game...he should of told rose to get back on d after the free throw...him pressing forced chalmers man to pick up collins on the blow by, thus leaving rose in a scramble giving chalmers a short window at a clean shot..the rest is history

I remember when this happened. It was my 8th grade year and it was past my "bed time." Dad was pissed and mom was yelling. But as soon as mario made that shot, they both shut up and sat down. I love my parents haha!
