I think Chris Broderick brought the heaviness back to them. Besides Megadeth holding him back some, he did help them write some of their better albums and best of the modern era Megadeth.

@Richard Saenz III I mean, even if he didn't write anything, I still think Chris relit a fire in them to step up their game, because he joins the band officially and then they write the best album they have in years I don't think it's a coincidence.

Like you said - it's pretty goddamn good. There's a couple cringe moments, but honestly, this album is a refreshing return to form with the bite of Clayman but the alternative metal and earworm choruses of later albums. That production is some of the best i've heard on a record this year, too.

I didn’t overplay the singles, so I’m ready to hear this thing! I still really like Sounds of a Playground Fading and I like Battles, too... the former being because of pure nostalgia. P.S. I still think the top of “Melodeath Mountain” is Intestine Baalism, in my humble opinion, but more people need to know about them.

I actually found In Flames when A Quiet Place came out. So I liked that album, but reroute to remain and the first few albums were their mosr prized treasured albums. I liked songs here, and there from other albums they've made, but I'm interested I'm hearing their new progress on Foregone. I thought I am the Mask was definitely stronger than Sounds of Playground Fading, Battles and Sirens Charms (even though that's not a very high benchmark to meet). It was a decent release even with some stinkers (get rid of those and I'd consider it a good album). I'm pretty pumped for this album. The era that started with Clayman is my fav In Flames era (nostalgia doing it that's when I jumped in). If this album is a combination of Reroute, Clayman and Come Clarity it'll be perfect for my tastes. Come Clarity is #1 for me. Super pumped to check them out again at Knotfest Melbourne Australia next month. I also don't mind the Clayman re release, it was an interesting experiment and the Vinyl copy of it comes with a 12 inch (the original remastered) and then a 7 inch with the re imagined stuff. I really good release, you don't have to listen to the new stuff if you don't want to. I am not dissapointed that I picked it up at release

Where we went to Disneyworld, Epcot, Universal studios, Hollywood studios for 4 days then a few free days in Orlando so I missed out on a lot of RUclips, Discord lol. I’ll say this Inflames getting Chris Broderick was a very smart and much needed move for In Flames. Dude can definitely add in some seriously tasty Melodies, licks and also some Technicality. His guitar work on act of defiance album and Megadeth’s Endgame is still fucking fantastic.

I did lose interest in them when I heard Siren Charms which was their absolute worst album and lost me yet I didn't actually bother with their follow ups. With that being said I am gonna check out their new album since some attention was positive and was pretty impressed with their new song that came out months back. I haven't heard the whole album. I've only heard the 5 singles or so that they have released for this new album. I'll have to post a more in depth comment once I hear the whole album. But these 5 singles...
1st off, people are going overboard saying that this is a return to The glory days of their gothenberg sound. No! This is absolutely not that at all! To me, this is Come Clarity part 2. Except, I like come clarity better. So far, at least. Once I hear the whole album, that might change.
This is not some sort of return to the Jester race or even clayman. This album fits neatly in the reroute to remain to come clarity area. The problem that I have with these 5 songs is that they are very basic. Yeah, there's some good riffing going on in there. And the vocals are pretty good. The songs overall are well written. But unfortunately, they don't really stand out against their back catalog. None of these songs are as memorable as say something like.." as the future repeats today"
When I 1st heard pinball map or clay man, BULLET RIDE, another day in quicksand, episode 666, jotun, etc... Just pick almost any song from the 1st 5 records. All of them are memorable and stand out from one another. This new material sounds like some leftovers from come clarity that they didn't quite finish. None of this is bad. It's just not the greatest thing ever. This is kind of somewhere in between death magnetic and hardwired in terms of quality. It's a nice attempt. But They are going to have to do far better than this for me to say "inflames we trust", again.
If you think that reroute to come clarity is the shit, then I can see why you would love this. If you Are like me and were off put by the change in direction with reroute and completely jumped off ship with soundtrack; this will not bring you back. Besides, They already tried this direction once. Let's mix the old with the new! That album was called come clarity. This is the sequel. Nothing more.
I will give it this... It's the best I've heard so far from the stupid scratch logo with korn-y, Tim Burton- esque artwork era of inflames. Except, March to the shore. March to the shore is better than this.
P.S. Chris Broderick is a welcome edition to Any band. Endgame is the best modern Megadeth album.
I got to see him live when he was with Nevermore.

I'm glad they've actually improved for once. I'm kind of over the Gothenburg sound, though. It's just been so oversaturated throughout the years between all the melodeath bands who've come about since IF's heyday and all the metalcore bands who ripped off their sound and added breakdowns to it. The entire genre went from being original and unique to being derivative and predictable.

So I haven't been a fan of almost everything In Flames has put out since probably 2006. In the 90's and early 200's this band was putting out good album after good album until they started drifting out of their melodic death metal roots into more "radio friendly" what I would probably call a "Pop Metal" commercial sound. Especially the albums released from 2010 - 2016 which were just uninspired and boring....this new one is rebirth of sorts, the best studio album they have put out since 2002's Reroute to Remain. Back are the aggressive vocals and riffs that longtime fans never thought they would hear again! I believe this has a lot to do with now permanent member, guitarist - Chris Broderick. There are still some songs that aren't quite "there" for my taste, but overall this record is full of heavy guitars and vocals and catchy chorus verses. A decent return to form that was long past due! I will definitely give this some "proper" listening when my wife is at work🤘

I don't want to slide the idea that we, the fans, are responsible foe this album but i think the very deserved backlash that unnecessary Rerecording of Clayman got is what pushed In Flames to explore those Gothemburg waters they abandoned 20 years ago. They understood they fled too close to the sun and so this album, for what i could hear in the singles, feels like a sort of apology for their fanbase.
