    Easily their best album since Reroute to Remain. Then again, since I got into them with Reroute, that's actually my favorite of theirs. But yeah, Foregone is easily my #1 of 2023, so far. Albeit it'll like be pushed down next month when 72 Seasons comes out!

    Listened to a bit of this and while give the entire album a go. Again, Pete, appreciate all the different bands and product that you review each week. Whether it is bought or not, it is always interesting to hear or see what is out in the market. Thanks once more.

    I was wondering if you were going to review this one. For me, this was my favorite In Flames album since Come Clarity. Is it as good as the material before Reroute to Remains? No. I didn't even like Soundtrack to Your Escape. Mirror Truth was okay but almost everything after that didn't work out for me. Definitely glad Halo Effect gave Ander a kick in the butt to write better material. Adding Broderick helps too. This album will definitely make my top 31 at the end of the year.

    Pete, this album rules, but I'm really here to say I appreciate your correct pronunciation of the word Nuclear! A lot of folks say "Nuke-you-ler" and it drives me NUTS!!! 😂

    It's not quite a return to form, however it is the step into the right direction. I haven't been a fan of the band for a number of years, but Chris brings a lot to the band and hopefully steering their sound in the right direction moving forward!

    The Halo Effect is how In Flames should be sounding imo. In Flames is stuck in a formula.

    Yeah it's definitely something of a return to form. I'd say the best album certainly since A Sense of Purpose ( which I've always had a soft spot for). If it was a ranking probably 6th behind Clayman, Colony, Whoracle, Jester Race and ASOP 🙂

    I checked out on In Flames with Come Clarity. But I will definitely be checking this one out soon. Gotta love Chris Broderick! Speaking of the New Wave Of American Metal… were you a fan of Shadows Fall, Pete?

    I've enjoyed In Flames throughout their career. Maybe the emergence of The Halo Effect has pushed them to return more to their earlier form. This is a very solid album IMO.

    Several years ago no way he would review in flames album pretty interesting times changes, wonder how Nick, Ryan and Chris think about this album now

    • @seaoftranquilityprog
      @seaoftranquilityprog  Год назад +4

      Not sure why you think that. I've been listening to In Flames since the early 2000s, though as I said in the video, I've soured on their albums greatly in recent years. This is the best thing they've done since I started this channel back in 2014. I'll bet Nick likes this album...the other two? Surely not!

    • @danielflorio4739
      @danielflorio4739 Год назад +1

      Something tells me Chris might like it but Ryan and Nick are too underground and will hate it no matter what it sounds like. They are as polarizing as a Metallica.

  • @bgmchrisc

    It's more death metal than the last few, but the production also makes it sound more sterile, so it oddly comes across less heavy to my ears. I won't say they're going through the motions, but...

    I usually hate death metal, but I may give this one a spin. I grew up on 80's thrash so this sounds like I may like it. I just hope it doesn't have those cheesy ass satanic lyrics, so stupid. Anyway, I'll give it a shot with an open mind.

    Sense and playground still had a couple of good tunes, but their last thoroughly solid album was Reroute to remain imo. This one doesn't completely shed the stuff from the last three records which have been mostly horrible, but they're getting there. Even the two or three more modern poppy songs aren't as cringeworthy as the rest from the last 10 years

  • @uofksteel

    Like that Deceiver song and thats about it. Sounds like Reroute Part 2, but thats where I lost interest in this band. Andres clean vocals not my cup of tea.

  • @eldorado852

    I don't like the album a lot. It ranks rather low in comparison to other modern metal bands. Silent voices in the doooooork.

    The best songs on the albums were the ones released before it’s released. Half of the album is strong, the other half is bad.
    Best album I guess since 2011
