Best album of the month came from Ætheria Conscientia. French progressive black metal with brass sections, tons of dynamics, etc. It's one of the best albums of the year.
Also, Fossil Gardens by Hail Spirit Noir. If you liked last year's Dodheimsgard release, you should like this record.

That new Anvil album is awful. One of the worst metal albums I’ve heard this year. The new Severe Torture and Malignancy albums were both really good and some of the best death metal comeback albums of the year.

Yeah the Anvil album was not very good they are gonna be retiring anyway for what they sound like.

@@Skycladatdusk78 I honestly agree; the only albums I like are Hard 'n' Heavy, Metal on Metal, Forged in Fire, and Juggernaut of Justice. Every other album is an absolute slog to get through.

@@mindful2864 Pretty much the same ones I enjoy especially Metal On Metal which I love to this day. The steep decline started after Forged In Fire and was a big reason they never broke through.

The new Candy is sweet. Don't worry , I am a Dad. I felt like I was hearing great material from Death grips one minute, then Pig destroyer, then Slayer (riffs from quarter of a century plus ago not recent Slayer , I mean it's not Kerry King obviously ...but) sludgey Eye Hate God and more but it's all their own . Thanks for reminding me of Candy and on reflection , it's not sweet at all

Rut - Morbid Thoughts is my pick for not only best Death Metal album of the year but best album of the year. Sick Joy Division shirt btw. Transmission is musical perfection. RIP Ian Curtis.

    Uuaaarrrgghhh!
New Squid Pisser - I´m off to checking it out. Already loved their debut.
... and You missed Amarok - It´s fantastic. sludgy funeraly doom madness with - and that´s the extraordinary part - riffs that really get stuck in Your head. Now how often does that happen?

Fractal generator I’m listening to right now. And it’s really really solid. I am a big malignancy fan so this new one was pretty good even though I would say it is definitely not their best. And Candy was really solid for a 1st time listen to this band, especially really think the industrial influences are cool.

Dammit, why is that intro diddy such an earworm? Some June albums I love that got no attention:
    CONSTRUCT OF LETHE-
    A Kindness Dealt In Venom
    HUNTSMEN-The Dry Land
    TORTURERS LOBBY- Deadened Nerves
    AKLASH-Reincarnation
KILL THE CON MAN- Rainbow Coalition
    RIFFLORD-39 Serpent Power
    HAIL SPIRIT NOIR-Fossil Gardens
    CODEX MORTIS-Tales Of Woe
BATTLESNAKE-Rise And Demise Of The Motor Steeple
KRAANBERG- Heart Of A Cherry Pit Sun
and for sheer retro silliness, GRIMOIRE- Lovehunt. Happy July, everyboby. Stay hydrated.

Haven‘t heard many albums in june (dunno why..?) but here’s my list of the ones I did listen to:
Crypt Sermon - The Stygian Rose (9/10) Great Great Album, glad I listened to your recommendation!
Axel Rudi Pell - Risen Symbol (7/10) Cool Album from the guitar master, but not something mindblowing.
Anvil - One and Only (5/10)
I love Anvil - I also liked their last album, but this is just bad from start to finish. I‘m really sad about that, but I think especially the guitar work here is extremely clumsy and boring.
There were also some cool EP‘s from small bands that were nice from the likes of Brotality and Civil Execution.

Eddie "I Know Everybody" (unless they're in post 80s underground extreme metal) Trunk would love the new Anvil album. Like that cringe Green Day billboard for Father of All, "No Swedish songwriters, no trap beats, no electronic effects," and especially 100% live "pure uncut rock!"
Too bad it's not very good or interesting.

    3 things
    1. Love that intro
    2. Thrashin Jackson inspired me to make up a Metal elitist version of myself named “Richard Dick”. Why Richard Dick??? Because Richard basically means dick so his name is Dick Dick lol
    3. I listened to the new Squid Pisser album and no joke, I think I might have a new favorite album of 2024
