  • Last October we first saw this EGO 56V Mini Bike at the Equip Expo in Kentucky. We couldn't wait until they were finally released, and here we are. The EGO Brushless hub motor delivers up to 28mph top speed, and two active 56V batteries provide runtime up to 20 miles. A full suspension makes the ride very nice, especially for a minibike. #egopowerplus #powerbeyondbelief #tools #review

    Great review. I would have liked to hear what the bike sounded like from the camera position as you were driving around, what was the rattle? Also, some more driving tests, maybe up an incline, a braking test, wide shots of the bike driving and maneuvering. I wish the bike was a bit taller. I am tempted but a bike with a $900 gas tank is hard to swallow when it will probably only last 2-5 years.

    Saw one of these pop up on Reddit a couple of weeks ago, and immediately sent it to a former co-worker, who is a lifetime rider, and has recently invested in an array of ego equipment. Neither of us knew it existed. Pretty sure he's going to add one to his collection.
    I inherited a house in the woods, and a low-powered sweeper wouldn't cut the mustard. I got their blower, and I'm absolutely tickled with it. Until you drop one of those batteries on your foot. By far the heaviest modular battery pack I've ever owned. Putting three of those on that bike, has got to add like 80 lb LOL

    • @Shoptoolreviews
      @Shoptoolreviews  Месяц назад +4

      OUCH!! Yes, they are definitely heavy. EGO does a great job with their lawn and landscape tools. In fact, they're probably the reason that battery power is an option in OPE now. Their blowers, string trimmers, and mowers paved the way for the rest of the industry. This minibike is a great little ride and it's so quiet. Thanks for watching.

      This is why things like the Tesla Semi and the Roadster are complete failures. The size of the batteries needed to do what they're claiming weigh more than the vehicles they're put in.
      This seems like a decent tradeoff, you get 20 miles on two batteries with a third battery "just in case".

    0:20 Funny laugh. There's a storage compartment for a 3rd battery. Seems to me like for a few dollars they could have put wires and a connector there, so you'd run 3 batteries in parallel. Very cute bike!

    • @HA05GER
      @HA05GER 14 дней назад +2

      It's actually a good idea to leave it that way. Your kid goes out on it kills the batteries then sticks in the 3rd and has to ride it back. all 3 hooked up you'd just run it out and be stuck. My dirt bikes as a kid I've run them out loads would flick the reserve on and go home to fill up.

    This looks like an absolute blast. Definitely going to pick one up. I’m already deep into Ego’s ecosystem and have had them honor a warranty replacement on a blower and a weed eater one of which was almost 5 years old with zero headache. It should be mentioned that I live on a mountain on a large piece of property and I’m really rough on landscape equipment, so it’s probably my fault. They’ve proven to have great customer service though and I’d have no problem dropping the money on a toy like this if it carries the same great warranty as the rest of their products.

      I work at race track festivals getting spectators out of the way of paddock traffic. I've been doing it with an electric longboard and rode my BMX during it's 4 hour charge, but now with 11 batteries, I can escort those race cars, tweeting a whistle for the entire time the track is hot.
      And if you haven't caught the genius of this on your own, the way I'm doing it is a sound financial decision. Spending $2K of tax return on a $2K tax write off.

    Judging just from what I see on the video it looks like a very high-quality, well thought out product. If I were in the Ego platform I'd definitely consider getting one. What I've really been wanting for a long time is something that more resembles a go-cart. I am constantly cleaning up yard debris so I have to bend over dozens of times every time I clean the yard. I've been wanting something that I can sit on that is low to the ground with a basket(s) that can be mounted on the front, or the back, or either side of the cart, that way I can sit down and not have to bend to reach things on the ground. I don't need speed so probably any 40V or higher system would work - even two 18/20V batteries would work. Seems like something that Makita or Ryobi would come out with since they are known for their eclectic tool lines.

  • @sbukosky

    I have the two stage snowblower and the big leaf blower. If I run out of power in the snowblower, the single small leaf blower battery will handle some snow so I’d think it could run the bike for a ways in eco mode. I think it’s 5Ah versus the two 7.5Ah.

    $2000 with batteries? That's honestly not bad. Sure, you could get a gas bike from your neighbor for $150, but I was expecting upwards of 4-5k just because it's EGO. For another $500, maybe they could make it a bit bigger and use three batteries.
    I do wonder, however, can you charge the batteries on the bike or do you have to take them out every time?

    For 1299 if you have batteries already this is a steal. You can currently get a mower with a 7.5ah and 5ah battery for 599. So for the price difference you can lose 2.5ah and get a 21 inch self propelled lawnmower.

    So it goes 28 mph...with a 20 mile range, so you can ride it for approx 45 minutes with a full charge, based on the weight and conditions, sorry, you're twice the weight, so knock it down to 22.5 minutes, also you're riding off road (not on the perfectly flat floor of the room we tested it in), so knock it down to 15 minutes riding time, and we exaggerated the riding time from the start so I'm guessing about 10 minutes riding before it starts running out of power...but it looks cool.

      I find it amazing the bike is smart enough to know it can’t deliver peak amps with less that a 10ah battery or combined capacity if the packs can. E connected in parallel.
      Every lithium ion pack sold has a BMS, and if it’s a good BMS it will not allow the battery peak discharge to exceed rated value. Imagine if it allowed you to put 1x 2.5ah pack in and discharge at 40a (20c), that pack would either shut down in 3 seconds or suffer damage. So by saying (10ah combined capacity), to give the same peak 40a its only 4c, well within any decent li-ion pack.
      $1300 is a little pricy for a ebike without battery and then another $1600 for 3x 12ah batteries, $3900 for a 56v24ah+12ah ebike. Its only practical if you already in the EGO ecosystem and have lots of their batteries.

    Make this a utility side by side with a small bed for light duty yard and farm work and they wont be able to make them quick enough to fill orders. Many of the modern side by sides have gotten too big and heavy for residential work and small farms especially without tearing up lawns or lots. My G1000 weighs over 1 ton and has over 100hp, something 1/4 that would be fine 90% of the time.
