Testing My Hemi Jeep Offroad And Hydrolocking a TJ…

- Lets go hit a new offroad park in my 392 Hemi Swapped JKU!!
In this video, its time to head out to MARS Offroad Park in Linn Texas with some friends from work. This is a fairly new offroad park, with a few cool different obstacle types. They have mud, a few rocks, water crossings, and some big hills!
The group consisted of my JKU, a completely stock 2020 JL sport, and two TJs!
This was my first real time taking my 6.4 Swapped JKU offroad to really test it out. It did amazing! I just need to get some more time behind the wheel with this added power so i can find the limits of the Jeep itself. The Hemi power is insane, and with the 8 speed trans, i found myself in 4high quite often.. 4 low is extremely low, and will be very handy in technical rock crawling situations.
After playing around for a while, the TJ went a little too deep in the water and Hydrolocked his 4.0...Luckily we were able to pull the spark plugs and get her back to life without any engine damage at all.
Overall it was a great trip, with some good friends!
Thanks for watching, ill see you guys next week with another video!

LOL I don’t know how the stock Jeep made it through that “puddle”😂
I go out of town and you go wheeling. Ima GET YOU👊🏼
ben, maybe i missed it but what is this place called?
we haven't seen much from jeep gear and gadgets lately and only a few from jk gear
Im surprised she didnt hydrolock the JL in that first waterhole
Cool trip! Thanks for the mechanic tips and kudos to the woman in the stock JL Sport being out there and giving it all a go even among all the lifts, big tires and 392!
She did great!
3wheel drive.. the beauty of locking hubs is they act as a fuse saving the locker, ring and pinion.. as a side note, I wish the Wrangler, JT, Power Wagon, &2500 Platforms all came with warn hubs, or at least as a factory option.. And ditch that stupid CAD . That would be an awesome Feature... because if you twisted a knuckle u-joint, just unlock the hubs , and drive home in 2wd high to fix it at home where all the beer is...
Is that so?
That looked like a lot of fun!!! Great video Ben and sorry about your hub.
Glad I found this! I’m from the Edinburg area glad they have this near by!! Next time I visit differently hitting this place up! Good content on your other videos🤙🏼
The amount of useful Information I’ve learned from this channel is absurd. Learned something new today!!
Hey Ben! Great video. Looks like y'all had a blast! 300 acres to play on.... What a dream. 👍
I have the Warn locking hubs on my SD60. They definitely are pretty stout and your best option unless you are thinking of running a slug and deleting the lock out.
Holley had said the trans coolers were shipping July 30th. So hopefully soon.
Gonna be a while for mine...LOL
That did look like a lot of fun; hope you go there again.
Might wanna notify the stock jeep to not drive super fast into deep water. lol
So clueless they're dangerous
that area looks like so much fun. I could easily spend a day in that jeep playground!
awesome video. can't wait to watch the hub replacement
Great Jeeping by all! I liked the younger one with the sunken jeep.
Great video I’m Pulling out my transmission and putting the 8 sp back in it’s been months since he did the swap and it won’t koala limp mode I’m starving over with the transmission the engine runs great Todd sending the parts for the eight speed thank you so much
Watching this channel over the last couple years do crazy Jeep mods, and I can't scrape the cash together to get my RWD JK a 4WD conversion lol. Keep livin' the dream xD
Looks fun. Waiting on the Crossbar trip with Jury and one of the toys he played with last week.
Thanks first time I’ve seen a 4 wheel park that’s awesome!
As soon as I saw the people in the video I thought Military Outing, those are always fun days!
Love hearing that hemi engine
Your videos and tutorials are awesome Ben. I am seriously hoping to do a hemi swap this winter into my 08JKUR. Do you think D44s will hold up to the added power of a 5.7l for moderate wheeling? Again, I love this channel! Thanks for all the incredible info!
Great video again. Thanks Ben,
Great trail tech, how to. Keep jeepin!
I remember taking my stock rubicon wheeling with my father in-law's 10a 3.5" on 37s... I couldn't follow him.. that was an expensive realization.. fast forward a few months and a couple grand, I can now follow him... Today was that day for Erin.. she's about to spend some money!
Great vid!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hey Ben that looks to be the Mars Offroad park in Lynn,Tx. I just recently joined a south texas jeep group whom which go at least 1 once a month up there with several Jeep enthusiast to wheel for a bit, very family inclusive jeep group. Would be awesome if you and Cassie could join us one day. Been a subscriber for a while now. Love the Jeeps. 👍🏻
Looks legit, haven’t made it out there yet. Gonna check it out 🤙🏼😎
Nice job! Ben!
Looks like a blast out there!
This video just taught me what to do if I hydrolocked my truck, thanks
Great video. Sometimes you just need a little space to go get your Jeep dirty. In some states it can be difficult to find a place close by. By the way, you should do a quick install/comparison video on the hubs. As far as I know there isn't a better option than the Warn 95060 on the market right now and some people still questions whether they are better than factory.
My brother drove his Acura Integra into a flooded street and hydrolocked it. Once it was home I did this same procedure of pulling the plugs and turning over the engine. We also vacuumed out what we could using a straw. But put the plugs back in and it fired right up. He drove it for 50000 more miles before selling it, so as long as you don't put a hole in the side of your block it shouldn't hurt longevity.
Looks like a blast!
If you want to play in the water, you NEED a snorkel. He's very lucky. I blew a rod right through the oil pan of my '97 TJ in the Jersey Pine Barrens. I had the engine rebuilt only to have a corner of the the block let loose on the highway a year later. There must have been a hairline crack in the block from that rod collapsing. I had 2 buddies lose the motors on their Power Wagons at Rausch Creek this year. That is no fun. A snorkel is cheep insurance.
Those hubs break all the time. I've broke two on my F350(dana 60 front) while snow plowing.
I have the Warn hubs on my 05+ axle. So far so good.
The first hill climb where you were bouncing the front end is probably where the hub busted. Bouncing is always a recipe for breaking stuff. I am realizing how lucky I am to only live 3 hours away from Moab
Very cool video!
looked like so much fun
Awesome
I like Rubicon❤
Always take new spark plugs air filter tools and starter fluid when playing in the water
Just had this happen on a trail ride. When we did all the above, we realized the gas tank was almost full...they had under half a tank of fuel when they hit the deep spot. It was a mess. Towed them out
Love your channel keep it up!
Good times!
Hi, I know you did a video covering amber and white pod lights. I currently have a white led 42in curved light bar from Auxbeam and was wondering about getting some pod lights to act as ditch lights but having them be the color amber. Would it be beneficial to have the different color lights or should I just stick to white?
역시 jeep는 끝내주네요.. 오프로드의 제왕답습니다~~good!!
Good times!!
That was great 😊
Check out the Thermo Tec Thermo Flow Modular cooler for your transmission.
Ben what part in your axle do you want to be the breaking point I would think them locking hubs would be the easiest to fix??
Ya'll need to make a trip up to Mason for wolf caves, plenty of rocks
I agree with this, we just need to know so we can be there too. Love that place.
Plus if they're the vacuum locker the vacuum lockers are known to have difficulties
I'm an old sandrail junkie who is just now getting into Jeeps. Just got a 2014 Wrangler with 33's and a lift and looking to try some light climbing and playing in the dirt. Question: We would always of course trailer our sandrails - can a Jeep trailer another Jeep successfully? What's it like towing with a Jeep? Just thinking about a backup plan if one of the Jeep's break and we need to get it home. Thank you!!
Factory Ford hubs tend to break. Go Yukon or Warn and won't have issues
The entire hill country is rocks.
Hello I live in corpus and would love to meet up with y’all I have a built gladiator on 38s your gladiator is the one that inspired me
I would like to join you sometime and meet you have some fun. I am running the nervous diesel and am living it…
I plan on doing a group ride up there sometime! I’ll talk about it in a video, as well as post on the Facebook group when I have a date
@@JKGearandGadgets sounds good I have traveled the us and done so much by my self that now just want to enjoy the company if others and make friends doing it. So look forward to it and great to hear back.
Plenty of rocks in West Texas.... come visit 👊🏼👏🏼🌵 Big Bend, Guadalupe Mts, El Paso
ok, your jeep can definitely make that first hill. You need to carry more momentum.
It sounds counter productive, but you have to carry enough speed that the momentum keeps the front end moving forward instead of lifting.
There is a fine point where the suspension absorbs the bump, the vehicle keeps moving and the front end doesn't lift.
Better check the axles/trans,/t-case for water
Hey Ben, why don’t you guys in America run snorkels? It’s a must have in Australia!
try that hill climb off center of the rutts
I’ve got a 1972 jeep j20 with 23000 on it and it needs a clutch I’m thinking about hemi swapping it
Upgrade time😎
Great video. I noticed your airbag light was on. My O8 JKU has the airbag light too and when I ran the diagnostic check, it said maybe a bad relay? Everything seems in check. Have you had yours looked at? Thanks for any info.
Could be the clock spring just needs to be replaced. Check the codes once again just to be sure.
Danny the owner of Mars was talking about doing more jeep/truck stuff. Just takes people wanting to go. I take the can ams and out there just not enough of a challenge in the crawler
I saw a lot of cool spots that could be turned into some good crawling lines. I’d like to chat with him sometime
He is always out there on a sxs working
He’s a big guy can’t miss him. Let me know next time you head out I’ll bring my crawler and x3. I live in McAllen .
That would be awesome H
Jordan....I live only like 20. Mind away so would be great. I have wanted to go out there again but my buggy isn't made for loose dirt and hill climbs even though Joe and my brother dominated em.
No invite? Lol. Glad you had fun out there.
I’ll be planning a group ride there sometime soon!
Nice Vette!
Hey Guys where you at its bean like 4 months you have to be all moved by now we miss the videos
Time for drive flanges to replace the lockouts.
I wish it was easy to get a hemi in aus. So expensive also. Dreams
Did anyone notice the music from Matt’s off-road recovery channel
What size tires is the orange TJ running?
Hay Ben check your options on hubs, warn hubs aren't what they used to be
Yukon or dynatrac good choices
Sadly warn is the only option for 05+ superduty 60s
Nice video my bro. Would love to wheel with you some time.. anything you need from San Antonio let me know
Looks like a fun place get that young lady some lift and tires
The factory hubs are super weak. Seen them break just flipping on the locker under power. The aftermarket Warns kick ass.
I'm looking through videos and haven't seen it mentioned yet, do you regret sticking with the rubicon tcase with the 392/8HP70 swap? I know in the initial install videos you mentioned the rubicon might have been too low, would you recommend getting a sport tcase instead?
I wouldn’t say I regret it, the strength is nice to have. But it’s geared super low. Technical crawling it’s awesome, but too low for average offroad speed so I usually wheel in 4 high now haha.
Either way, my 5.38s don’t help. I think 4.88 or 5.13 would be a better fit.
Depending on what kind of wheeling you like to do will help you decide on the tcase. If you want a super low low stick with the rubi. If you want low to feel like the stock rubi case, then swap to a sport case.
Where in South Texas is there a place for off-roading?
Jeep needs to put a 5.7 in the wrangler so more people can afford it
Thats what I was hoping... Instead we got a electric Jeep...very dissapointing
My diesel gladiator is simply unstoppable off-road and I get 23mpg on 39s
Nice video Ben next take Cassie's jeep and the gladiator on the same track and maybe with the kids
Missing your videos hope everything is going well.
This place looks awesome. Never knew we had something like this down here. Where exactly is this located
Its off of FM1017 in Linn. About 20 mins north of Edinburg. Mars Offroad Park.
Down from Edinburg drag strip
Yup...its mainly loose dirt but all we got
Maybe all we got but at least it’s something. Coming from Harlingen so might as well make a days trip out of it
Where did you get that mount that runs along the dash and windshield? I’ve seen it in your JT also.
It’s from vector Offroad.
When I go deep into water I already have a recovery rope attached to my bumper or recovery points for a nice quick recovery 😅
That’s always a good idea!
Smart
Snorkel snorkel snorkel or stay out of the water 😂🤣😂
idk if u have ever heard of windrock park in TN but if u havent you should check it out..you wont be disapointed
Yep! Been there a few times and have a video of one of the trips
@@JKGearandGadgets yea i love that place lol
The stock Ford hubs are junk. I replaced mine with Warn hubs and didn't have any issues after that. And that was running a 6.0L Powerstroke with over 700lbs of torque.
Need to come to hot springs Offroad park in hot springs ar got 1-5 rated trails lots of rocks
Hopefully soon! Work has been crazy and can’t travel much
@@JKGearandGadgets if you do let me know a few weeks ahead of time And I’ll get a few jeeps together and we will ride with you
Oh my!
Texas Wheelin.
Just paid $80 g's for my 392, and can't get myself to do this to my Wrangler. But certainly like watching you do it.😅
How do you like it so far??
@@JKGearandGadgets Love it! It's has every bell and whistle Jeep makes.
The steep price was a bit hard to swallow, especially when I realized Jeep hasn't replaced the aluminum steering box. Hope I don't have death-wobble issues.
@@salriggione I just had my steering box replaced by Jeep. It shouldn’t be a big issue if it does develop a wandering problem.
@Alex McKoy Glad to hear. How does it feel on the road?
My girl's JL is 2yrs old nd has 19k on it. just brought it to the dealer. She has the same steering issues. They're having to replace
1) steering gear box from aluminum to steel
2) 2nd steering stabilizer shock
3) track bar
4) 2 tie rod ends. They also found that her paint is bubbling on 2 of the 4drs and the hood. Wtf w/Jeep? All covered under warranty, but Jeep needs to get it 2gether.
we have missed you.....
Yukon hubs, pricey but you will never have an issue again.. i broke 2 sets of hubs before i got yukon
I don’t think Yukon sells them for the 05+ SD
Yukon Only available for 99-04 or kingpin
Slugs or warn are only options. I have warn on crew cab long bed crawlers 43’s locked chromo shafts and double t-case no issues so far
Look you guys had mad fuN…….got to find me some Jeep buddy’s
get yourself some jeep buddy's fo sho
So I'm assuming you went from manual to auto, any issues? I'm planning a swap on my 3.6L '14 JK and wanna go to an auto with the v8 swap. With the hemi, any programming etc that needs to be done or is it more of a natural swap? Also contemplating a 6.2L Chevy swap but heard there's a ton of aftermarket programming etc that's gotta be perfect.
Check out my Hemi swap playlist. I made videos on all of it
Where are you guys ??????? We miss yall . Well i do.
I see Yukon hardcore lockouts in your future.
Sadly Yukon doesn’t make them for the 05+ superduty axle. So warm is the only option
Those sunglasses look like granny goggles 😎🤣
They are so comfortable haha
@@JKGearandGadgets i think thats what the grannys 👵 say too
bruh how did the jl not hydrolock
