In this video, we take a look at some sneak peaks of the 2024 King of The Hammers Every Man Challenge race, the days leading up to qualifying, tech, and race day.
It has been a wild journey building this rig, turning a 2009 Jeep Wrangler JK into a 4500 Ultra4 spec car and taking it out to race in the hardest off road race in the country!
I have so much to share with you all, so it will have to be broken down into multiple videos.
Once we arrived to Johnson Valley, CA, we had to unload the Jeep, set up the pit, and get everything ready to start focusing on the week ahead of us. We left Oklahoma and drove through the night to make it to KOH, we arrived on the Lakebed around 3AM after 20+ hrs of driving. There was a tremendous amount of rainfall the day before, and the F250 tow rig ended up getting stuck in the mud with the trailer attached... So we had to unload the race jeep and pull the truck out of the mud, what a great way to start our adventure!
The first order of business was to team up with Accutune Offroad and get the shocks dialed in! I had ordered the Fox triple bypass shocks from them, and as always they sent them out custom tuned for our specs (one of the amazing services they offer)! Unfortunately, we ended up adding more weight to the jeep than expected... Luckily we were able to meet up and hop in on their on-site shock tuning and get the rig dialed in thanks to Ryan! The team over at Accutune is fantastic at what they do, and know shocks from the inside out. Its amazing how much of a difference proper shock tuning makes, and it really transformed the handling of the jeep in almost every aspect.
We continue on, taking the Jeep out for some seat time and practice runs, and prepping for Tech, with our qualifying run and race day shortly approaching.
Stay tuned for more videos uploading soon! - Авто/Мото
You should be very proud dude! Good work! This is some exciting footage!
Full race mate, it will give us a little bit of what you guys went through. While you guys were out there getting beat up I'll be sitting on the couch with a beer and pizza 😂😂😂
I see you put DandC VSL lights on the cowl. I LOVE these lights. It’s my 2nd favorite mod!
Hay was just wondering if you brought your bodie Mike with you.
How the shoulder hold up
Id like a full race with narration/voice over with explanation or whatever of what we are seeing and what you and Mike saw. Probably serialized into smaller chunks. I cant do 8+ hours in one video. Id also like to see a complete clean and inspect on the jeep, and yours and Mikes thoughts on what you liked or didnt, do over list, repair list etc.
thanks, love your content, keep up the great work! And thank you for your service
Want to dictate anything else? lol.......
no im good thanks

I actually caught you on tv going through turkey claw but never heard what happened to stop you. The fact you made it and started the race puts you well ahead of most of us, good job!
Great job 👏 I've been watching you since the beginning. I appreciate your channel and have been a subscriber since it's meager beginnings. I have learned a ton from your channel. As a fellow Jeeper/ offroader and Veteran (Thank you for your service) In closing please never loose your humble demeanor, and Thanks for your content 🙏
Where’s Cassie these days?? I miss seeing her on the channel doing builds in yoga pants!
Upload the whole race in quad cam format as just the "Race video", then maybe start poking away at smaller vids with commentary. A walk around after action report vid would be cool also with talking points on how each part performed. Then lastly a video on the experience of Hammer town, and the race as a whole.
Hey Ben, I edited the KOH content for Lite Brite the years they attended, along with over 100 other edits for them, and I was wondering of you might need an editor to help out and free up some of your time. Never hurts to ask right. Just looking for more fun clients and you guys are doing some great fun content. Cheer buddy, hope to talk to ya in the future.
I’ve been waiting for this!! I’m going to watch it tonight when I can enjoy it!!
Great demo of the importance and improvements made of the performance suspension tuning!!
Awesome before & after with tuning. Experiencing those changes as a driver is such an amazing feeling. Looking forward to see more from KOH and we will be ready for you at KOH25!
Let’s see…….How many spares to take?…..Well…..ya know !!!!……We are nobodies !!!…..LOL
Soooo NOW you wanna talk about other Ultra 4 races !!!!!…….LOL…..Love ya dude !!!!
16:18 That rock took out so many tires lol
Hell yeah I'd watch the whole race! Would be cool to see any of the struggles to get the rigs back after a breakdown. Shoot any of the stuff we don't usually get to see as spectators.
I've been checking out the Star Mount Starlink systems. Those live stream POVs were epic!
Pumped for you Brutha !!!! Fulfilling a long goal is a awesome feeling & I'm glad you got to fulfill it !!!! Thanks for sharing as ALWAYS
Awesome work man. Just attending KoH is a bucket list item for me, and here you are building a race jeep and competing. Great job.
Ben that is insane in the difference in the footage for the before and after! Bring on the footage! Always love your vids!
great build fellas! I enjoyed to the build videos. I was really looking forward to seeing you guys at KOH, and I did get chance to chat for a bit. You guys did a great job and are very approachable. A full race video would be great, it would be cool if you can also show a full map of the race course and plot yourself with progress on the the map as the video went along. my 2 cents
Good on you for building this in your garage and competing in this event. I have a buddy that built a '72 Bronco to compete in the Mexican 1000 and Baja 1000. He did this build in his garage with almost zero sponsors and just a handful of good friends. He ran Baja 1000 this year and actually finished and won his class. Given that I know what it takes to compete on this level and you did good. Congrats.
Show us all you can. Reasonably anyway. Cut the 8 to 4? Try to highlight YOUR moments from the race
I saw you driving in Hammer Town, but I walked around and couldn’t find you.
It would be awesome if you put together all your footage.
I am down to watch all of the footage you want to put up. Love seeing the trails. I had a blast pre running the rocks and desert in my JKU on Atturos. Wish I could have stopped and seen your rig but had too much going on being pit crew and volunteering for UTV race day on wrecking ball. I literally pulled the wheels off of a Kawasaki getting him back to his pit not too far from where your pit was.
I've followed this Jeep build since the times where ya'll lived in Virginia and it's came a long way. Hard work does indeed pay off. 🤙
I wonder if you couldn’t put some sort of relief blow off valve in your power steering system. That would relieve excess pressure before blowing something apart
Might want to try running tire liners. We run them on the 4400 (coyote liners) and I’m 100% sure they saved our wheel/tire multiple times smacking rocks at speed.
Definitely highlights and a review of what held up and what didn't as far your modifications.
Awesome video! Congratulations on making the race first time around. #croclife
I’d love to see the full race, commentary on it will be even better, especially for your own record while it’s fresh in your memory! Congrats on such a successful build guys
I would say only the hardest core fan would be interested in watching the 8 hr video. Sounds like a lot of work my friend. I am interested in how the race went and what the plans are for the next race. Thank you for your time.
I would love to watch the race video. I work 12 hr shifts with some nights nothing todo other then watch RUclips.
This is the KOH coverage I'e been waiting for! Great job fellas
The whole race footage. Next time can we get your name? It was hard trying to watch for just the number.
If you do the full race video just make sure and set chapters up or put your face in the corner when you’re adding commentary. That way it can be watched on 2x speed and it’s easy to see where you chime in.
Awesome video. What kind of lights are those that you are using as headlights?
Shit man I’m really old I don’t have eight hours to spare but I’m sure other people would like to see it
Maybe make it a series of videos… mostly unedited with voiceover..
I would watch the whole race. Maybe not in one sitting, but I would watch it!
Next obstacle should be, can it survive 5 years in Maine as a year round daily driver.
Nice try I guess if there is one thing I want to see is what worked and what didn’t and what broke.
You made us all very PROUD! Great job guys!
You made us all very PROUD! Great job guys!
Id love to see a full race video. Driver and co driver audio during the race would be great to hear as well.
I want to see the critical thinking and working on the Jeep pre and after the race etc.
awesome Jeep, great build. Thanks
Whats causing drivers to go through tires many tires???
Excited, I have been waiting for this video!
Looks like you had a awesome time .show the whole race plz
Just add a little footage to the end of other videos over the next month or so
Congratulations Ben. KOH is no joke.
First off I am very happy and jealous that you made it to the HAMERS and came home to tell us about it !!!
I would love to see the race from your view. I also would like to see what damages the jeep took and what is getting repaired. Now that you ran it what do you want to change/upgrade?
I know you were busy with the build but we missed seeing it come alive, so if you did record any I would like to see that also.
Build videos will be coming soon! Still want to show all the work that went into finishing it off
Great job! Followed you guys on race day!
Would love to see race footage with voice over!
I would watch the long video!!!👍🏼
That’s the greatest pond digger I’ve ever seen
Post up as much as you can. I'll watch it all.
Full race would be amazing
GREAT explination, It was impossible to follow you during qualifying and race day. Post both, Full and short. I'll watch both
First off I am very happy and jealous that you went to the HAMMERS and came home to tell us all about it !!!
I would like to see what damage the jeep took and what you are replacing/upgrading.
I am hoping you do put out the entire race with your footage and what ever anyone else has on you including the USCG. And of course with nariating on whats going on at the time....
I know you were busy with the build but we missed seeing it come alive, so if you did record any I would like to see that also.
My suggestion is for you to put the videos in order: Give a review of Day 1 with your videos, comments, etc., then Day 2, Day 3, etc. one or more of them might have to be divided into part 1 and part 2, etc. Jeep looks awesome!!!🤙
I look forward to all the footage you’ve got. From, building, to racing, to anything. You’re just entertaining to watch and the rig you built is sick bro!
I’ll say it again Good job on what you did accomplish at KOH!! That race is no joke and until you’re in the seat like you said you have no idea. You and Mike built a awesome rig and I’m proud of you both. Also glad to put a face to a name finally and hopefully we can wheel at crossbar in the future and catch up!
Congrats - thanks for sharing your KOH journey! You guys did an awesome job and the Jeep looked strong.
I’ll watch any & all videos no matter how short or long … but I am your mother 😂😂
I've been watching Andrews 4 and half hours on and off for the last couple of days. I'd be happy to watch yours.
I have been waiting for this video and look forward to everything you upload from Hamers!
I love that you asked for our feedback! I’d love to see some more lawn mowing footage!
I’m glad you are back! Mowing updates soon! #husqvarnanation!
The lawnening is happening… again…
definitely would like a full race video. or broken down into multi part series with narration through the rock trails.
Great job!! Love seeing the build and stoked you finished!!
Didn’t finish unfortunately! Made it pretty far but no finish 😢
@@JKGearandGadgets I would still call that a finish!! You came home in one piece!!!
I want to experience 8hrs of the race through your lenses. Great idea!! I'm a former endurance racer so that stuff rocks my world.
Can’t wait to see it… heck .. we were on edge just to see how you guys and the Jeep faired .. beautiful build btw!!!
We wanna see hammer girls!
Great job! I enjoyed the build series and then making ot to KOH💪💪💪
For sure can’t wait to see the edited race day video, but for sure would love to see the full race video. Also love to see your rig walk around.
Fun, memorable event I'm sure.... 🙂Nice and impressive you completed the course!!
Would love to see all the race footage whether its all in one video or over a series of videos. Would also love to see the rest of the build series of the Jeep too if possible.
Awesome stuff. Cant wait to see the race vids. You guys built a great rig!
Man I watched you rooted for you cheered you on I enjoyed watching an can’t wait to see you do more
You are right i run the auttro mt they have a new tire the auttro mts i am going to try them Love the channel keep up the good work
Great Job jeep looks awesome and you all did great work at the hammers.
Congratulations on a first year finish!! That’s a major feat!! Silly question! What brand are those triangle gear bags in rear? I had a cheap set but they didn’t hold up. Thanks in advance, and again congratulations, can’t wait for more footage!!
Well, we didnt finish unfortunately... More to come on that in the upcoming videos. The gear bags are just a set from amazon, we will see how they hold over over time. Designing and building a more permanent gear storage area is on the list for this year. amzn.to/3I1t5GO
An 8 hour video will be way too long and I don’t feel will get the views
How did your arm hold up??
Pretty good! The hans device put a lot of pressure on my shoulder and left some bruising but all is well! The jeep was really sturdy and well dampened, strapped in and was good to go!
Glad to see you guys are bringing entertainment back
Saw you out there bro. You were rippin'!
I can sit and watch hours of Baja footage
Congratulations! What an awesome rig
Are you running auttro tire's at the king of the hammer's
Nitto trail grapplers
hi ben, where can i buy those half doors you got ?
They are Bestop Core Doors, unfortunately they are discontinued now so you would have to look for a used set. They are pretty pricey but nice doors. Motobilt also has a nice set of aluminum doors for the JK now.
What engine and trans are you runnin in the jeep
LS3 525 GM hotcam crate with a ReidTH400, reverse manual valve body, 3400 Stall, Atlas 3.8, worked really well in the rocks slow in low, and pretty dang quick in high
Show it all!
Good tires have you ever tried the auttro tires i run them and i love them
Yes i run the Green label Trail blade boss on my 4 Door, they work really well! Its hard to find a good tire for KOH as there are just so many variables. The Nittos are known as a pretty top tier tire for offroad racing so i figured id give them a shot. High speed rock stuff kills almost any tire, and even these are really worn from the race, would love to see how other tires compare in a race scenario (or if it even matters at all)
Nitto has more wins and finishes then any other tire in KOH... cant go wrong with them u less you get a sponsorship for another brand and they are free to you 💯
would be good to hear a mix of the jeep and you narrating as you go round , awesome effort too, just finishing that event in a home built rig is something to be very proud of 👍👍🤌
