Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 8th Gen 20U9 not charging, water damage - Advanced Motherboard Repair

  • Here we have an Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 8th Gen 20U9 that is not charging, it had water damage. Keyboard Is ok, but had some water spill on it.
    I replaced the TPS65988 and one shorted capacitor and now the laptop is working.
    Some of the tools and supplies i use all time
    - Sugon T26 soldering station with JBC C210-018, JBC C210-002 and JBC C210-020 tips
    - Gordak 952-A (I'm using this only for it's soldering iron)
    - 8858 Hot Air Station (no name)
    - Seek Compact XR Thermal Camera
    - Sunshine DT-17N Multimeter
    - HY3005D Power Supply (very old)
    - Kingbo RMA 218 Flux
    - Baku BK-227 Flux
    - Cynel Soldering Wire 0.5mm and 0.7mm
    - Mechanic XGS40 158C Solder Paste
    - Relife RL-404 138C Solder Paste

    I also got a lenovo carbon in my queue with liquid damage... it'l surely not have the same fault :=). Good job as allways!

      For me, at first sight, this one had an usb-s connector issue, but it was water damage at the end....

    you guys can easily get any component you need to replace, but here in my country, it always end up like me have to buy it from another country let say singapore and wait for about 3-4 days
