I had this same issue with my friend's Yoga, once he dropped it. It was %100 dead until this IC replacement, but there's still a short somewhere else, since the laptop immediately turns off and would only run off battery power til it died :( I find these Lenovos have too many power issues after looking around. You have great videos man, I like to see these kinds of repairs.

Sorin, the last 2 letters identify the IC's size & they are not an ISL chip that's an Apple thing 99.9% of PC's use TPS series IC's, as for why it was hidden under the Wi-Fi card is to cause maximum heat buildup to cause failure, planned obsolescence at it's best but hey what can you expect from Lenovo HA!

These chips replaced mosfets, they are now integrated within these chips, most new laptops would be coming out with these, they tend to be shorted more often…. Anyway we need to embrace the change and adapt to new tech that doesn’t consume more power
Too bad you lost the diagnostic video it would be much better to see the whole process but good job finding the issue, about the sound quality of your new mic i haven't said anything yet but the white noise is very audible like a good old cassettes :)

There's one last try before moving into the motherboard, try any Linux distro, on live session, if it works with it, might be some driver or BIOS related, another thing, if I'm not mistaken, it's usually a magnetic sensor who switch off the screen, it could be shorted, so when the screen went off, it will looks like the screen lid is down, and won't respond to the command of wake up.
I am wondering, do you do much with MSI AMD 970 MOBO's? I am trying to get MSI to warranty the thermal paste/pad board leakage issue. Add note, this board has managed to fry 2 graphics cards as well. Does he also check and repair graphics cards? I'd like to know. Thanks.
This chip is responsible for communicating with the PD charger and telling it to supply higher voltage. In this case the laptop input was just stuck at 5V.

I replaced chip, now get orange light, it powers on fine, then shorts out brick after 1 minute, doesnt charge battery, and 4.97v all the time. lol its progress
Hi, If you can help me with my notebook, I own Lenovo Yoga 910 that has constant interruptions in charging. It will charge for a second and discharge for a second while on cable. I purchased a new power adapter but the problem doesn't solve.
If you like Squid Game Sorin then may be you should watch Alice in Borderland, which I think is far better. Season 2 confirmed and due to premiere in spring 2022.

Looks like a driver related issue, chipset tdp or something.

Why you don't plug a adapter to your lab power supply to a usb-c cable and see there the voltage and the amperage take by the laptop?

You have one capacitor soldered incorrectly, don't you? It's rotated by 90 degrees, only one pad is soldered. at 9:04

Lenovo will fix it at next model -- by using "snowflake" unobtanium custom controller. Everybody copying worst practices from apple.
