cmkristi I was thinking the same thing! I just moved to N Chicago from Cali (military) and it's so hard to find fabric stores period. Let alone for decent prices. The struggle is so real.
I live in NC and all we have is JoAnne and Mill Outlet Village (curtain & upholstery fabric but It’s extra wide and pretty sturdy so it works well for apparel)
Hi Daniela You can carefully paint the zipper closure with some nail polish in the color of the fabric, to help the nail polish stay add a coat of clear nail polish too. This tip save my time when I don't find the right color for my garments. :) Blessing from Puerto Rico
You need your own Boutique... Lovely, genius skills you have... God, has really gifted us humans with great talent. I need to make a trip to NY, oh I will be there again this summer...
I'm so glad you made this a series because it is helping me out a lot. I want to become a fashion designer and watching your channel gives me so much inspiration and motivation to become the best I can be.
that challenge is what made me subscribe initially, it was awesome, I would love if you could make some plus size pieces or even pieces for women with certain issues, like large stomach, wants to hide upper arm, etc...I used to buy my material from walmart for 1.99/m, it makes you very very creative, lol
Gm morning, Ms Tabois, it is a pleasure to watch you. I am very new to sewing, and I love your designs. The wedding dress was very nice. But I love this one as well. Especially the bell sleeves. Look forward to more of your creations.
I cannot believe the prices on those fabrics! I’ve only shopped in the fashion district in Manhattan. I guess I need to visit Brooklyn next time I’m in NYC.
We only have Joann so the price is good because they always have 50% off one item in their weekly mailer, but the selection is terrible. It's all so generic and they don't even carry silk. There's one indy store here that specializes in silk but they cost a fortune. And I hate to buy online because I can't feel the fabric but I've paid for a few swatches. I'm going to start a notebook for online stores and staple the fabrics to the page so I know what they're offering.
is this a dream sequence? did we die and go to fabric heaven? Holy Cow!! .... I would have chosen that aqua blue sparkler you saw outside with the sheer blue with floral embroidery inside.... OMG! There is no way I wouldn't live in that store! Just move my sewing machine in and never voluntarily sleep.
If I can't match an invisible zipper the way I want, I sometimes use nail polish to paint the little dangling/holding bit. I don't know what the colour looks like in real life, but on my screan it seems like it might look good with pale gold or silver. CV
I REP QUEENS ALL DAY!!!!! You are so inspirational. I appreciate your shared creativity and talent. You are amazing and I am very excited to see this dress.
Patiently waiting for part 2. I actually click to see new videos on your channel. Love your work very inspiring for this beginner over here, one day I will be at your level sewing.
It's out...I saw it a couple of days, ago.😁😁😁....it's was awesome....love the butterfly...liked the dress better without due to the fabric used...a plain fabric would host that butterfly....this woman is so talented
Daniela Tabois aww 💖💕 and I was going "get that yellow/gold zipper... Right there!.. I see it!" Lol I can't wait to see it finished 😁. Green is my fav color 💖
Hey Giirrl..I used to live above a little convenience store on the corner of Fulton & Rockaway!!! What was most Awesome about it, was the smell of Freshly Baked Bread that was delivered every morning...and Hell Yeah, we Pre-Bought ALL of it!!! As in, we Took the damn bread and went down as soon as they opened & paid for it!!! After the 3rd time we came to an agreement...they ordered 3 extra of everything, that was ours...Yay for fresh bread!!!
Hey! I’m new to both your channel and dress making myself, your channel is super helpful and inspiring! I love your work, techniques and personality!! Can’t wait to see what you’ll make! :)
I love your vidoes Daniela !! I live in NYC, so I went to the same stores you did to check the fabrics out. I didn't see anything I liked but I got some great stuff from clearance at Spandex World in the garment district. Got 6 yards of plain blue for $2 a yard (cus it had some damage but nothing major) and 1 yard of sheer white floral for like $6. Can't wait to see what you make with this !!!
The gown is gorgeous! You definitely have some skills. I was curious as to why you didn’t make use of the contrast between the right and wrong sides of the fabric?
Hello, hope ur having a good day! Just wondering when the $10 challenge coming up? I really have gotten into making formals, since your posting the tutorials. Thanks.
Hey girl. My dream for my next vacation is to go fabric shopping with you! Love your videos. I am also a professional Couturiere but fabric shopping, especially on a budget is not my forte. Love, peace and light. x
You are so good at choosing fabrics, one ? What do you think of the zipper and sold at eBay by the bunch, iam existed to see what you come up with I know is going to be gorgeous, thank you for sharing God bless
well, I'm thinking use the half yard fabric on the upper bodice, possibly with an asymmetrical/one shoulder and use a triangle of that fabric on the hem, 3/4 front to tie the whole dress together. but that's just one idea, looking forward to see what you make with it~!
Yaaaas, Brooklyn. That's where my mom's from. Brooklyn born and raised :) (well. She eventually ended up in Queens in her twenties but she'll tell ya that ain't her burrough) haha
I love that save-a-thon has prices on everything. I also go to that first fabric store as well, I don't like that they don't price everything 😳. Every time you have to ask for a price, it makes me feel like I'm bothering them. I also think they make up the prices as they go along.....But, I can't wait too see what you make.....
My husband is from Brooklyn and we will be visiting soon. Any suggestions on where to buy fabric? I thought I saw in one of your videos before a smaller fabric store than Mood.
Maybe for your next challenge after this one you can try using a single yard of fabric? I've seen other people make super adorable things, and I think you'd be able to make something awesome too!
The name of the store is Jackson Heights fabric center... in Jamaica Queens, Jamaica Ave... lots of chiffon, cotton, lycra low as 1.69yd... go there all the time...
Years ago, I made a "prom dress" for less than $20, and wore it to a fancy-dress military ball. I spent more on the pattern than the fabric for the dress! Wish I had this type of fabric store where I live! Ours are all chain stores and either horribly expensive or don't have good quality material.
Like so many others we are limited to JoAnn's, Hobby Lobby & Walmart. How I miss the Garment District now that I no longer live there. Daniela I am absolutely jealous of these options.
OMG you are so lucky to live nearby a place where you can find this nice fabric this cheap!!! 😍😍😍
cmkristi I was thinking the same thing! I just moved to N Chicago from Cali (military) and it's so hard to find fabric stores period. Let alone for decent prices. The struggle is so real.

I wish we had fabric stores like that. I'm limited to JoAnn's & Walmart.
we don't even have those :(
ngold004 me t o o I’m so sa d
You have more dedication to your tasks than me.... I would been like “don’t mind me y’all I’m gonna buy this for a side project.”
You need your own Boutique... Lovely, genius skills you have... God, has really gifted us humans with great talent. I need to make a trip to NY, oh I will be there again this summer...
what about a suit for 20$? id be an interesting challenge and a good tutorial!
I'm so glad you made this a series because it is helping me out a lot. I want to become a fashion designer and watching your channel gives me so much inspiration and motivation to become the best I can be.
I wouldn't know how to act with those prices!!! #TakeAllMyMoney #GiveMeEverything 😍😍😂😂😂😂
MsFredericks I swear my whole little check gone lol 😂
Yassss are sales where I’m from are like 15.00 and %50 off coupon of regular prices items if lucky
I know right. We only have Fabrciland and a store called Marshalls and they are both expensive. Wish we have more options here.
You have an eye for beauty and quality! Thanks for sharing your talents! love to shop with you. ...this is always hard for me.
that challenge is what made me subscribe initially, it was awesome, I would love if you could make some plus size pieces or even pieces for women with certain issues, like large stomach, wants to hide upper arm, etc...I used to buy my material from walmart for 1.99/m, it makes you very very creative, lol
Yes, some plus size stuff would be awesome.
I totally agree with incorporating plus size option tutorials too!
The fabric district is outrageous. I guess because it's "Manhattan" they charge those prices. But Queens and Brooklyn is where it's at.
NotSoNubi iiiii
I can only dream about those prices. I live in Germany and the cheapest you get is 5€. Fabric with print on it starts at 15€
We only have Joann so the price is good because they always have 50% off one item in their weekly mailer, but the selection is terrible. It's all so generic and they don't even carry silk. As a designer I love your shopping for fabrics videos 😁
you make me so happy with your smile, your enthusiasm but above all with your energy..I look forward to the second part...kisses from Italy
is this a dream sequence? did we die and go to fabric heaven? Holy Cow!!

I'd like to see the results. When are you going to publish them?
These prices are amazing 💖 Wish I had this kind of store in Berlin, Germany.
