- I show my daughter The Terminator for the very first time.
She has only ever seen one film with Arnold in it before, that being Twins.
I found out recently that she has a bizarre phobia of Danny Devito... but she refuses to say why!!!!
If you love this movie please be warned that we tend to make fun of most films, often the ones that we like get ripped the most :)

When I played avp2 during the suspenseful moments, I always hoped I'd find the room where the symphony orchestra was playing the dramatic music, so I wouldn't feel so alone, being terrorised by the xenomorphs!!
I've seen many reaction videos on youtube about the original Terminator but this is the first time that the reaction is mostly laughter. 🙃When I think about how terrifying this movie was for us in the 80's, well, a lot has changed.😁 (T2 is fantastic but in retrospect, the original is the perfect Terminator for me.)
hehe, no blaspheming here on T2, that doesn't sit well with the movie gods and then they make another bad terminator movie. be careful.
@@lionhead123 Hehe, they can't screw up the T-franchise more after the "fantastic" 5th and 6th episodes. The T-story was complete with T1+T2. The closing scene of the theatrical version of T2 was a perfect ending. (The weaker T3 and T4 were still acceptable compared to the later ones.)
I prefer T1 and the bad terminator more too, despite it being the other way around when I was growing up and thinking John was the coolest kid ever
Terminator 1 is more a horror movie.

Some trivial Terminator trivia:
The voice on the answering machine of the guy that stands Sarah up on the date is Cameron.
The cop that gets head slammed into the car (1L-19) is played by William Wisher, Cameron's roommate who got a script credit. In the TV series, a character named William Wisher is a resistance fighter in the future.
The terminator in the flashback(flashforward?) is Franco Columbu, Arnold's lifelong friend and fellow Mr. Olympia bodybuilder.
The terminator's skin has begun to rot due to the damage to the pump that circulates its blood, hence the flies and the "dead cat" comment.
Cameron was successfully sued by science fiction writer Harlan Ellison, who wrote a couple of twilight zone episodes that had extremely similar concepts. One featured two soldiers from the future who end up in our present and continue fighting, the other was called "The Demon With the Glass Hand", about a humanoid robot that infiltrates and blows itself up.
Cameron's first pick for the terminator was OJ Simpson, but the production company felt that he was too ice a guy to play a killer.
His second choice was "Bishop", Lance Henrikson. But Arnold got the script, bought Cameron lunch and convinced him that the terminator would have to be a big burly guy.
The mohawked punk in the beginning was the late Bill Paxton, who had the distinction of being killed by a Terminator, an Alien and a Predator.
I like all of this info except the last part. Bill Paxton was never killed by the Terminator. He was thrown up against a fence. The actor that got his heart ripped out was actor Brian Thompson. Also did Hudson (Paxton) get killed by the Alien or was he cocooned like Newt.

You guys have to watch the sequels now, Terminator 2 is the best but they're all really good imho.
Here in California, when he was Governor, we called Arnold Schwarzenegger "The Governator".
One time he was meeting with legislators over a budget issue, didn't get it resolved, and in the press conference he said "I don't want to say 'I'll be back', but we'll be back many times until we get this fixed, as long as it takes." (eventually he did work it out just not in that meeting.)
I'm a lifelong centrist Democrat and I voted for him both times. He's socially liberal, correct on all those issues, LGBT rights, support for immigration etc.
One time he put something on Twitter saying he favored gay marriage and somebody commented "you just lost me as a fan!" and he said "ok, bye." lmao. 🙂
I always hoped that, while Governor, he would say "budget problems: terminated" but he never did lmao. 🙂

@@user-vn2jh9mk4i ah Prey was quite fun I especially enjoyed how the protagonist was young female native American who somehow bested a much superior adversary in the form of the unnamed Yautja warrior. The film mashed some very 2020 sociological themes alongside the raw brutality of 1980s action movies...also it had a dog n it :)

In addition to Michael Biehn and Lance Henrickson, Bill Paxton(Hudson in "Aliens") is in this. He was the spike-hair character of the trio that the terminator demanded clothes from.

I still dont understand the constant hatred for that super low-budget animatronic effect. It's so unfair. The shark looks more fake and stupid in some shots of Jaws. As Stan Winston said, it works beautifully as a storytelling device.

You referred to the theme music, at about 5:45. It was probably electronically created, because in some parts of the film it's in 13/8 (3+3+3+2+2). In other parts, it's 12/8 (3+3+2+2+2). I'd never even attempt to play 13/8 and try to keep it straight.

Scary thing is we are not too far off from this. A few years ago in Turkey the first HK came around when a drone in a military test demonstration turned on the people opening fire with everything it had. After it was taken down and later examined, they could find no trace of sabotage to the drone. We have already had our first fully AI naval battle as well which is like RIMPAC only there was not a single living person involved.

Don’t waste your time with the other Terminator Sequels of the Franchise. Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines and Terminator Salvation (4th Film of the Franchise) were okay/pretty good. But, Terminator Genisys and Terminator Dark Fate were ABSOLUTE FUCKING RUBBISH.
Also, you MUST have your daughter watch The Running Man (1987), Predator (1987) Total Recall (1990), Blade Runner (1982), Robocop (1987), Robocop 2 (1990), etc.
I need some more time to think of other awesome films for her to watch. 😎
