Jim Greens are 10x as comfortable than my Nicks...and cost much less. My jim green combo tanned barefoots are really crinkling up quite a bit, lots of nasty grain break...we'll see how long they last.
Will be redoing them with a vibram sole. Sooner or later. So how do the slip on Jim Green feel as far as heel slippage?
I've got regular Jim Green Rangers that I've been wearing as my main boots for a year, & I just got the special Barefoot Rangers in Green. Both size 11, same as my Danners. I want to do a custom order of the AR8's next year.
I'm normally somebody who sticks to American made boots, but I love what Jim green does and their Vellies really have no proper American made equivalent so I bought a pair last year and have absolutely loved them for my warm weather beater shoes / shop boots.
I bought them in Khaki Rough out and ended up dubbing them with beeswax & obenauffs, they take a beating without looking bad.
There were some things I wish I could change though and when I learned about the new custom shop yesterday I had to place an order.
I wanted a wedge sole and I wanted a leather midsole , plus I decided to try our their " tan " grain out leather, and to try out an unstructured toe box.
My 1st vellies fit well enough and don't really feel too big but I could stand to go down a half size down which was not available on standard production as far as I remember.
Sweet boots, but the kittens stole the show.

I appreciate you taking the time for an unboxing video and for covering some of their custom options. Jim Green does have utility leathers. They've covered why they don't expand to other tanneries in some videos. To summarize: To source leathers outside of South Africa, the shipping and duties/taxes for them to receive the hides make it economically unfeasible to produce boots with imported leathers. They source all of their bovine and buffalo hides locally.
The leather is actually the veg re-tan leather in Walnut (also can be seen at 13:55 on the Numzaan boot). Watching some videos from other fellows with the same leather and comparing to my own, it looks like there is some hue variation from batch to batch. I'm quite pleased with the coloring that I've received though.
Another note: The outsole on this boot was a short lived, very soft lug sole from Jim Green. They've recently discontinued it after being a custom option for about six months. Instead, they're coming out with another wedge style option to take it's slot.

Great boots! They look very comfortable and tough.
I think South Africa, like Canada and Australia use UK sizing. One of many countries in the British Commonwealth.
