Please work with Jim Green footwear to make a boot with an anatomical toe box. Not just “wide” width compared to narrow toe boxes. But an anatomical toe box that allows your toes to play, something like an Altra shoes last in their “original” shape. Please do this, it would be absolutely amazing and many people would buy their boots. Lems boots makes some anatomical shapes but they’re also narrow. The best out there now is the Wide Load boots that are in Australia. Please!

I have both the barefoot Shoellie's and Stockman's... Holy crap they are AMAZING! My wife teased me for ordering the stockman's, she says they're the ugliest things she's ever seen, but they have to be the best feeling, sturdiest, barefoot, slip on boots ever! My goodness they are something special. All Jim Green products have this uncanny quality of just effortlessly dripping with character and these are both bangers! Well done once again~

@@atomicsmith They do look much better on! They have become my go-to boots pretty much every day tbh.
I still wear the barefoot rangers when I know I'll be walking a bunch, and the barefoot shoellies when I want to dress it up a bit, but there is just no getting around that slip-on efficiency!

Barefoot African rangers since last year are my daily winter shoes (waxed), also got some rambler vellies and ordered some of the new rugged. Living in Italy I just wish JG made some really minimal summer slip ons, maybe mocassins. Would have thought that coming from South Africa they would make something suitable for really hot days (ok they actually make flip-flops)

I love my barefoot rangers and shoellies but I really hope they add a wider more anatomical toe box, I know it looks goofy but it's so damn comfortable.
If they were shaped more like the bearfoot bruins they would be absolutely perfect, especially for the price point. I'm almost tempted to get the bruin patriots but I'm going to put it off for a while in hopes that Jim green comes out with a better option.

Love the thick veg tan insole options. I made my own as they weren't available at the time. Totally upgrades the boot imo. I don't like the half sock liner leading into the super rough leather midsole or lasting board or whatever you want to call it. That ripped up my socks. Otherwise, I love my Barfoot rangers.
Now, as for sizing. I am just shy of being a 9.5 in length on my right foot and just over a 9 on my left. But I am slightly wider than 4E too. I ended up going with a 10.5 because I knew I was going to put in a thick veg tan insole and wear some fairly chunky socks. I still could have gotten away with a 10. It would have been perfect in length and maybe tightened things up at the midfoot, which might not have been a bad thing as these Rangers are super high volume at the heel, midfoot, forefoot and instep. They do lack in the toe box though.
Anyway, for me, I think 1/2 a size higher is the right call if you have a 4E+ foot. But I also have a high arch and instep. I think size matters though. If you look, some half sizes aren't much different in length than the previous full size. In other size there is a bigger difference. Birks are like this too. Some sizes go up by 5cm and others by 10. When in doubt, email Jim Green! They are super responsive.
I do wish we could get some double thickness outsoles though. Maybe a wedge outsole but flat. Idk. I know this stuff takes R&D but I live in cold snowy climate and don't love the Anvil outsole in that weather, at all. Good for hardpack trails and regular daily use though. Concrete chews them up fast though.
That all said, I am quite happy they were made as I wear my a ton!

I don't get it. People complain about the slightly narrow and shallow toebox on the Barefoot Rangers, so they come up with new super cool designs and make them even narrower...

In order (Based on the pairs I own) of hardest to softest - AR8 standard JG Lug sole, rock hard like actually kinda detrimental to standing on concrete but great for yardwork - Barefoot Rangers on the Anvil sole, way softer than the Lug rubber, you _can_ mark it with a fingernail you'd really have to try - Tyre Wedge Sole, also on an AR8 but a steel toed one, much softer than the lug and slightly softer than the anvil sole, rubber is able to be marked with a fingernail and squished a little

I wish you and Jim Green would come up with a Doc Marten style barefoot combat boot, because everything on the barefoot market right now that tries to fill that void look like clown shoes with no structure. I really like how you guys came up with a happy medium for the barefoot Chelsea boots where there’s a thicker sole that’s still zero drop, and it doesn’t look like clown shoes, but I feel the barefoot market is still crying out for a Doc Marten style combat boot that’s rugged.
Please, please, please fill that void! And please make the boots to fit size 6US, cause is small feet people can’t fit any of Jim Greens shoes and boots, which is really frustrating.

On another note. Correct me I am wrong but didn’t Jim Green had to design a brand new last for this? Which would mean they had put in money into designing and making the new design/product possible? I think when you are designing and research a new product it cost money and time which needs to be recouped through the pricing? Which the same for any new product or a good example is when car manufacturers come out with a new model?
