I purchased one of these about 3 years ago from HobbyKing, it's still in it's box, unbuilt. My darling wife made me promise not to build anymore owing to the amount of room the planes I've already built take up. There are 20 planes waiting to see daylight so I told my wife I'd buy a caravan and park it in the driveway. She told me I'd never get some of the planes in and out the caravan door. I didn't have the courage to tell her we'd be living in the caravan. Probably because I'm allergic to pain.
Truly amazing flying, I changed to 4s and no longer need to flog its guts out to fly it scale...it does it with ease and now how extra to cover my bad piloting LOL. Awesome stuff and love watching your video
For the longest time it had been hard for me to except EPO or foamy RC's, but when I see planes like this one and someone flying it who realizes that it is not a stunt plane or acrobatics plane, I loosen up, and enjoy watching them fly...! I guess it's all in the plane model and the flyer... It still will take me some time to actually buy an EPO, but just maybe some day, especially when I see flights like this one...! Thanks for sharing your video....
Love the appearance of this plane, I see what you mean about it forcing you to fly scale, but I think I would want a little more power. That way if you get into trouble you won't crash and mess up this beautiful aircraft.
Great looking B17, and nice to see a Bomber flown in the correct manor, If people want to buzz around the sky then get a P51 or Spitfire, they fly quite fast or can be flown scale like, anyway great to watch, thanks.
Good flights! I especially liked your comment on the slow top speed, and how it prevents the pilot from performing non scale maneuvers. After all, its a big bomber, meant to fly straight and level!
She's beautiful. Even more so in the vid than on HK's site. All I have to add is damn you. When my wife asks me why yet another plane, I'm sending her your way.
@RemodNC : Thanks man. And its true. This thing needs to be flown scale! Whether it has power or not to loop or roll. Scale on this one! Lots of people saying increase power, but I say NAH! It's awesome the way it is! ~~Robert.
@Spyro333777 : At WOT, 18amps. But they settle in nicely at 15amps. 2 motors are Y'd together to one battery. So you can run a 3cell 2200mah 20c lipo without issue. (But your using 2 lipos by the way. 1 for each pair. inners & outers) ~~Robert.
@farrkenbeauty : Thanks my friend! I think the only thing I'm going to change on my b17 is the blades. They are just a bit weak.... Just a Bit...... :) ~~Robert.
I actually filmed this using a small camera that I mount on my hat. Its called FlyCamOneHD. Its from hobby-lobby website. If you do a quick search on my channel, for the term "rcredbaron hatcam review" It will pull at the top and you can see how small and easy it is to use with a hat. Thanks for awesome comment too!!! ~~Robert
That is a very cool plane. I can't believe how fast it rotates. Slow doesn't bother me at all, especially on such a scale model. But does it seem like it's riding just above stall speed? I heard your comment that you almost tip stalled, making me think this is pretty much stick and rudder for 4-5 laps.
I heard the props are weak and you will get better performance with the Hobbyzone super cub lp props. They are a direct bolt on and no adapters or anything is needed. Only thing is they are 2 blade.
It has a nice sound. You mention changing the props because they are weak. Does that mean that that they break easily or that it needs more power? If I had it I might try 4S but without putting a meter on it it is hard to say if the motors and ESCs would be up to it. Can the forward wing lights be set to stay on solid? They look wrong blinking but would look great if they didn't. Nice flying!
@spitfiremk1980 : If I understand what you are saying, is that you are having one or more motors turning in the wrong direction? If a motor is going in the wrong direction, swap any 2 wires from the motor to the ESC. This reverses the direction the motor turns. ~~Robert.
The plane appears to be underpowered. At my elevation of 5000ft it makes quite a difference. You would not have enough power to get out of trouble if needed.
4x700kv outunners is not enof for this plane. For same price but a little bit smaller (1600mm) instead of (1875mm) You get a plane with 4x1350kv outunners, and way better retracts. Its also lighter and also with 2 batteryplugs. Zo longer flighttime and more 3D acrobatics
Yes but I was connected all in the 3 channel and the brushless and ESCs in a wing was wrong but now I changed the cables for a new instalation and I connected in helicopter mode. I go to try in ACRO one more time. My Radio is a Futaba 6EXP in 72. Can you see or do you know if in your ESCs are cuted three red cables? Thank you! Have a nice day!!
Thats an awesome looking plane. But why is it so slow when it has four engines. Seems like it would have a bit more power. I like it only doing scale stuff though.
Hello, very nice the plane and flight!! I have a question because I have the same plane 1600 mm. How do you connect the brushless?? I connect in helicopter mode (2 motors in the 3 channel and 2 in the 6) Can you help me please?
I'm having so much trouble deciding which b17 to get of these 3. Not even sure if you can get the starmax anymore so it's kinda between hobby kings 2 the 1875mm and the 1600 or starmax if I can find it. Please help me on which is the best package. Please. I'm liking the 1875mm so far. Thanks jake h.
@spitfiremk1980 : Y-connect all the motors to the 1 throttle channel, Channel 3. What Remote are you using and why are you connecting in Helicopter Mode? Just curious. ~~Robert.
It sounds to me like Hobby King needs to step up their game in the motors, and battery for this airplane. If you can't even climb with the available power; this plane is NOT worth having. If you have no reserve power for emergencies, or Errors: You can kiss this plane gg.oodbye very early inti it's life. Errors are common even among Well Seasoned pilots. There is also something else to consider before buying this plane. It is called WIND.
I liked how it flew, like the how the real plane was meant to be flown. Almost as enjoyable watching as I imagine it felt controlling.

General Hobby has this bomber. Just bought it. Nice plane for real.
Great looking B17, and nice to see a Bomber flown in the correct manor, If people want to buzz around the sky then get a P51 or Spitfire, they fly quite fast or can be flown scale like, anyway great to watch, thanks.
The fly by at dusk was really good. The scale looks and nav lights are great.
Thumbs Up ~ Eric

Got one for myself today, woohoo!!!
@photobart1 : It really is. Amazing what you can make with foam huh? :) Thanks man! ~~Robert.
Nice filght and landing
Very nice flight!
Very nice. I fly my Cub very scale like, no expo, coordinated turns, etc.
She's beautiful. Even more so in the vid than on HK's site. All I have to add is damn you. When my wife asks me why yet another plane, I'm sending her your way.

You have the best video of the B-17 Memphis Belle Ive seen
Looks like there was no wind right?
I will buy one now after seeing this :)
Nice plane Robert...Flys nice...I have my eye on HK's composite F-18 90mm EDF...Got ideas for that one...
love it i bet she needs lots of rudder for those turns huh?

nice job! great looking plane. now you just need a hobbyking enola gay to finish off the warbird bombers eh?

Great plane! Landing gear with the plastic trunion sucks!!! Do not fly of rough airstrips!!
Hey mate, did you bulid in the lights yourself or have they been already inside before? Thank you! And nice video!!
I WANT IT!
I have that plane, it will roll and loop!

You glued the nose canopy upside down. Hope you can fix.
Thinking about getting one of these. You running two 3s packs or one big one?
@spitfiremk1980 : Y-connect all the motors to the 1 throttle channel, Channel 3. What Remote are you using and why are you connecting in Helicopter Mode? Just curious. ~~Robert.
Oh, No! Flashing landing and navigation lights. Why do they do it...?
I wonder how you transport this in a car? Can you easily take off the wings?
