Hi there, i really enjoyed your video presentation of the Hobbyking B-17 Flying Fortress. You explained everything in great detail and you flew the plane fantasticly well. I have two of these marvelous planes and both are silver. I tried getting an olive drab colour B-17 but they were discontinued. I am very happy though with the silver ones. The only modification i did was to change the stock props to the master airscrew 10x7 three blade props just like you did with your plane. I also painted the tips yellow. I have yet to get a video of this great flying plane but when i do i will put it on here for you to see. like you i also love flying this warbird, it looks so majestic when its up there cruising around. Keep the videos coming as you both make a great team and are very good at what you do. Your videos bring a smile to my face everytime and they definately brighten up my day. A wonderful plane and a great pilot who flies a B-17 as it should, with no risky maneuvers for an airplane of this type. Congratulations, Captain Robert.
I have a similar problem with my Parkzone Spitfire - it noses over when you start the initial run - once it's running it goes fine off the grass. So, I bought 4 metres of 6mm astro turf (plastic grass) and it works a treat. Haven't yet managed to land on it though Ha !! :-) Thank guys - always good to watch your maidens. :-)

Thanks Bob. You are wright, the props are for nitro engines, but they work excellent. Oh yeah... I have a prop like this on my Kawasaki and I will put propellers like this on Junkers and Dauntless. I have ordered them yesterday. Many guys install the props from FMS B-26 but I cant get them in my country. I finally had to break down and order this plane since HK shows in stock in the USA warehouse. . I've missed it a few times when it was in stock for a short while in the past.

Hi Robert I just picked up a second hand hobbyking b17 and I'm putting on the master airscrew 10x7 also. My question is did you put any kind of flat washer on the back side? Because it doesn't have the hex cut out for the nut.

I think Capt. Blaz needs to make engine sounds..... LOL! During the war the B-17 demonstrated a great ability to bring pilots home safely even after suffering major damage. Can you simulate this? Just kidding!! I love watching this airplane fly even with the electric motors.

Thank you Robert for test Prop. Test. This is a good alternative if my original props are damaged. I ordered the Freewing LG from RC-Castle.com . The are more scale and the job to insert them is not very difficult. Best Rudi (from Austria and RCGroups)

Really enjoy your videos , I'm in West TX. and I also have this plane (which I love as much as you do ) and I have a fix for you on its problem with flipping . I used three 1/4oz lead weights under fuse in line with plane starting about 1" from end of plane , adjust your battery if need be , I did not need to . Before fix I could not take off hardly with out flooring it from dead stop and when landing would flip and end of roll out . Now I can taxi around and no more flips when landing , you can search ( Kevins B17 and T28 to see maiden of mine , hard landing LOL . Time of video I had only been flying for 2 months .

Having this exact plane myself, always great to see others fly it.. (on the other side of the world) Did you notice warmer battery or motor heat with those big props? Less battery time? 3s or 4s? BTW, mine with stock props climbs towards the sky when full throttle applied.! Too much prop those MAS might be for me.. ! I salute you back Sir..!
Hey MrC. Mine also climes but that is because I putted my 3S 6200mAh baterrie a little to the back for easier takeoff. With that move I dont have the perfect CG. The baterrie was warm but in the normal range. And to tell you the truth, with this new props it didnt clime so much up as with the original ones. But the test was perfect and we had a good time yesterday. Oh yeah... So stay well my friend and see you soon, Robert

This video and a real B17 flying over my house and even my wife wants to see one fly. She surprised me with Olive Freewing B17. Maiden day will be a great day. Still to maiden Spitfire and FW190, but B17 is the tops.

Thanks Tedio. Baterrie? I use 6200mAh 3S and the CG is about 17 inches from the front edge of the wing. The best is 16 but then I had problems on the takeoff. Oh yeah... And now with the carpet its just perfect plane. Stay cool and come back again, Robert

Edino kar sem videl....(sam še ne upam odpret flapov, ker še ne znam :)), da je hudo enostaven za pristat s flapi! V angleščino pa vidva prevajajta...obvladata!! :) lep pozdrav!
Hej Mitja. Če znaš pristati brez flapov, boš s flapi še lažje. Ampak pazi na kovit. Preizkusi jih višje v zraku, da dobiš občutek kako se letalo obnaša in koliko gasa potrebuješ, da ima še vedno vzgon. Boš videl kakšen užitek je pri tem. Propelerji so pa itak odlični originalni. Zamenjal sem jih samo za ta video, da sva videla razliko o kateri vsi govorijo. Pa je ni veliko. Ampak zvok pa je malo boljši. Oh yeah... Da bova govorila angleško pa sva se odločila, ker je tako bolj zanimivo še za druge obiskovalce po svetu, saj vsak razume vsaj malo angleško. Torej Mitja, lep pozdrav pa pridi še naokoli, Robert
to stop the plane going out of focus when flying.. take it off autofocus and set it to manual then before flying focus on the most distant object on the horizon..everything infront of that will be infocus.

Do NOT use flaps on takeoff-makes it tip over more. Prop blast pushes rear of wing up. I do use them on landing, but not necessary.

Having this exact plane myself, always great to see others fly it.. (on the other side of the world) Did you notice warmer battery or motor heat with those big props? Less battery time? 3s or 4s? BTW, mine with stock props climbs towards the sky when full throttle applied.! Too much prop those MAS might be for me.. ! I salute you back Sir..!
Hey MrC. Mine also climes but that is because I putted my 3S 6200mAh baterrie a little to the back for easier takeoff. With that move I dont have the perfect CG. The baterrie was warm but in the normal range. And to tell you the truth, with this new props it didnt clime so much up as with the original ones. But the test was perfect and we had a good time yesterday. Oh yeah... So stay well my friend and see you soon, Robert

This video and a real B17 flying over my house and even my wife wants to see one fly. She surprised me with Olive Freewing B17. Maiden day will be a great day. Still to maiden Spitfire and FW190, but B17 is the tops.

Thanks Tedio. Baterrie? I use 6200mAh 3S and the CG is about 17 inches from the front edge of the wing. The best is 16 but then I had problems on the takeoff. Oh yeah... And now with the carpet its just perfect plane. Stay cool and come back again, Robert

Imam isti model, ampak nisem imel še nobenih problemov s propelerjem....je pa res da imam notri 3S 5000 mAh in dela top...tudi meni najljubši model!!
Edino kar sem videl....(sam še ne upam odpret flapov, ker še ne znam :)), da je hudo enostaven za pristat s flapi!
V angleščino pa vidva prevajajta...obvladata!! :)

Hej Mitja. Če znaš pristati brez flapov, boš s flapi še lažje. Ampak pazi na kovit. Preizkusi jih višje v zraku, da dobiš občutek kako se letalo obnaša in koliko gasa potrebuješ, da ima še vedno vzgon. Boš videl kakšen užitek je pri tem. Propelerji so pa itak odlični originalni. Zamenjal sem jih samo za ta video, da sva videla razliko o kateri vsi govorijo. Pa je ni veliko. Ampak zvok pa je malo boljši. Oh yeah... Da bova govorila angleško pa sva se odločila, ker je tako bolj zanimivo še za druge obiskovalce po svetu, saj vsak razume vsaj malo angleško. Torej Mitja, lep pozdrav pa pridi še naokoli, Robert

to stop the plane going out of focus when flying.. take it off autofocus and set it to manual then before flying focus on the most distant object on the horizon..everything infront of that will be infocus.

That advise doesn’t always apply because with zoom in or out the point of focus can change also.
