- In this video I show you step-by-step how to install a stuffing tube flex shaft, Teflon liner, modified strut, propeller, & drive dog. I used a sonic wake 36 strut that I modified the Strut base To fit our handmade hand laid fibreglass RC boat. we used a .150 shaft and liner to 3/16 shaft..

Nice build man good to see a good rc boat channel not enough around, also not sure if you already know about offshore electrics or not but they sell good stuff for electric boats

You saved me again. I was trying to figure out the best way to measure the stuffing tube with the extra distance to the to the inside the strut! I would've been shaving it down till it sat flush with the transom!!SMH!!!

Just watched your video on props, I will say your very good at explaining how these things work, really interesting, I have a BLACKJACK 29 RC BOAT it's brilliant would like its big brother the 42, what is your favourite all round electric boat, speed, performance, and value for money.
I personally like mono hulls they put the biggest smile on my face. Sonic wake Is an excellent deal. Plenty fast lots of hardware for adjustments, the 42 is a fun boat as well but needs lots of work to get it right. Hope this helps.
Hey IRONCLAD RC I recently purchased a custom made boat shell from my brother and this joker is HUGE and has random slots and holes in various places and I've never done anything like this build in the past in fact I've only built 1 boat "added electronics I already had around the house" to a proboat stealthwake and I'm wondering if you could give me some guidance on what all I might need I'm going to try and add pics to this comment as well ...

I have a 4075 brushless with a 150a esc all water cooled. Im building a 3d printed 3ft boat. Im gong to fiber glass it and build it right! I just can't find the right rudder assembly that I want then I saw yours.

My flexible shaft and the coupler is REALLY REALLLY TIGHT. Should i sand my shaft a bit or it has to be reallt tight like that?
I've lightly sanded my flex cables in the past but keep in mind that you want a tight fit at the connection once collet is tightened down

Is it OK for the Teflon liner to move in the stuffing tube while running
To a certain extent, if it rides up onto the motor Coupler or into the strut bushing you'll stand a chance of binding and twisting the flexcable
Cool stuff i need to fine a cheap brushless system for my boat i did buy a shark esc on amazon idk if it will work well or not but I'll find out
The water pickups are not as big as I'd like to of seen on the ztw shark esc. I also picked up a flycolor 150a watercooled esc that would give you plenty of power with a leopard 3660 2200kv for your rigger build. I'm gonna put a small cap pack on my flycolor 150 should help with amp draw

how do u waterproff your s/tube or do u just use grease cheers
Grease & or a Teflon liners help alot
Do i need to use the blow torch or can I bend the tube anyway
Some times I use a torch for larger bass tube don't get it to hot. And/or put a tight fitting spring on the tube where you want to bend it will keep the tube round so it don't kink
Flex drives are on there way out I've been in DC for over 45 years when they were using u joint drives I've switched all my boats over to solid flex drives which on company I use altamarine is basically a solid wire that ups to 250. At the prop and sits in a aluminum tube with 2 delrin bushings the difference in weight and friction adds up to 900 rpm t your motor I run only nitro and gas but the same results will apply to fe flex shafts weighs alot and even if you use a s bend stuffing tube the flex shaft still slaps around and winds up
Ive been looking into wiredrives for a while now. i have not switched any of my boats to wire yet, looking into a wire set up for my rigger. the only limitation to wire i would think is that the motor has to be forward in the boat to get a nice gradual bend? wire wouldnt work with a short stuffingtube setup would it? who do you get your wiredrive setups from? thanjs for watching
@@IRONCLADRC I get mine from altamotive I put it in anything from 15 inches to strut to some of my 1/8 scale hydros that are 23 inch to strut so they will fit in anything really you can try wholts rc boats he specialized in fe I go with a guy Brent byers you can find him on intl waters he has ones mainly for nitro and gas Brent has complete systems with strut aluminum tube shaft brass stuffing tube and all the hardware that goes with it
