@@lordescanor8232 I really love and hate that story. Mostly hate sadly. It feels too much like fan service for the Rem fans, like compensation for what the author did to her. The events of Sloth feel very different from Re:Zero’s story of everything feeling connected and consequential. Even when someone knows who Rem is and comes for her, literally nothing happens. It doesn’t feel like re:zero at all, esp compared to the other sin if’s.
All the close ups on the knife are there to imply that Subaru restarted many times to try to save Rem in time. Not that he had any chance. Because if you remember the blank letter incident from S1 that caused a misunderstanding: Subaru asked Rem to write it, so by the time Subaru reached Roswaal's domain, Rem's existence had already been erased, as shown by the letter reverting to a blank piece of paper.
They remember some of the deceased people who took part in the battle against the White Whale. Only those hit by its fog of elimination are forgotten. The newly introduced Archbishops called it their pet, so it's not too far-fetched that it shared one of their abilities.
By the way, Batenkaitos is derived from Baten Kaitos, the name of one of the star of the whale constelation and mean "belly of the sea monster" or "belly of the whale". So obviously, we could assume that he is the one responsible for Rem being erased from the memory in the same way that the white whale did for numerous peoples.
13:00 knife is a reference to the light novel; in the anime, he committed suicide in that outside scene, but in the light novel, that scene happened in this room.
Actually in novel subaru keep trying to kill himself by that knife to somehow get rem back .But he realizes that he can't do that .and in anime this scene was cutted but they show us the knife for some reason......
It’s likely trying to allude to the deaths by having Subaru contemplate it as a way out that he knows wouldn’t lead to anything. Basically, the anime and light novels always cut down on the deaths. This isn’t like the Emilia water scene where they don’t really explain what the meaning of her looking at her reflection is. This can be easily interpreted as his desire to end it, but stopping short cuz it won’t amount to anything
The whole "what was that?" as Rem flashes out of existence... it's a combination of two things: first, if you remember back to S1E18 (From Zero) where Rem basically reveals her dream to live in Kararaage and start a family with Subaru (but she refused to leave with Subaru because Subaru wasn't smiling, and they'd be leaving the version of Subaru behind that she loved so much), it's her mental image of that family... but also second, there is a tangential alternate story from this point called Re:IF (aka Sloth:IF or Rem:IF) where Subaru and Rem did leave for Kararaage and start the family, the image of the woman with the long blue hair is Rem as well as her and Subaru's children from that timeline.
9:15 so to clarify more what puck means here “name” refers to every other living creatures memories of you specifically while “memories” refers to your own memory of yourself and everything around you from the time you are born to the present The archbishop of Gluttony can swallow (take) one or both of them (white whale just wiped out their name and killed them)
Oh yess. One of my favorite antagonists of all time introduced in this episode (I just love him because so many ppl are like this irl and it’s nice to see a villain made up of those qualities).
Season 2 doesn't have a Director's Cut, but the Blu-Ray edition has a LOT of animation touch ups. While the season over all is still incredible, Covid hit production hard and the initial release that's on streaming platforms has quite a few animation errors. So if you wanted to you could try and find a way to watch that (no I'm not insinuating you pirate it, what? haha wouldn't that be crazy? ...Unless?)
That was the chapter I had looked the most forward to during its anime release. Didn’t disappoint. Probably one of the best episodes of the series, and maybe one of the best in anime history. You hardly ever see an episode dedicated to one’s family, especially an isekai protag’s family. It’s so beautiful and tragic.
Some freeze-framing of what Rem was thinking when Gluttony got her is rewarding and will break your heart. If it's unclear, Felis was able to reattach Crusch's arm because Felis. When you saw Felis crying over Crusch it was because he was devastated by her injury, not because he couldn't help her.
Yeah, he was devastated about what happened to Crusch and when she decided not to pull out of the alliance he was probably really scared that she was risking something even worse happening in the future.
He’s the type to kill someone cuz they didn’t say “dragon bless you” or something after he sneezes. Cuz it’s against his rights as a human, how dare they not treat him like a human, it is his RIGHT

I believe I'm caught up on the Re:Zero novels, and that means every time I watch season 2, especially episode 1, I get flashes of what this and that mean, or why someone is like they are. Regulus pisses me off ao bad, even more so now that I know what I know. Season 3 is gonna fing explode the internet so so very hard.
