Everyone saying this is a Hyundai commercial or basically just calling him a sellout are just haters. Dude has worked his a$$ off to get where he is and to have the opportunity to get a sponsorship from a major car manufacturer that’s also putting him in a race car. His content is still good. Just because he is getting paid to drive and do videos on a car you don’t like doesn’t mean his content is any less good. What if he did this exact same video with Porsche? Would it still be bad?

Data isn’t boring, it’s beautiful. I was a driver on the FSAE team at my university and we logged huge amounts of data, most of which I couldn’t understand, but the driving data improved my skills considerably. All car enthusiasts should be interested in data if they actually want to get better at what they do. Talk us through the data, you’ve got a platform to actually expose people to this for the first time and teach them useful things.

Awesome video and nothing like a new car that doesn’t produce headaches haha. I lease a new Hyundai for that reason alone lol. Hyundai had me out for the Ioniq 9 reveal before the LA Auto show and I got to see the Ioniq 5 N Ron raced at Pikes Peak! 🤘🏻🤘🏻

That is actually a cool comparison. I was speaking with some people about lets say in this case. A stock, non Nanyang Elantra. A modified Elantra is most likely going to be faster. But the Nanyang model in comparison to a regular stock but modded Elantra might actually be faster, depending on what you do to the vehicle. My point for the people I was having a conversation with was that its typically best to leave the Special Additions stock, and many times, modding them makes them slower. They can be faster, but you have to know exactly what your doing, rather than, this component is cool. Or, I want this, everyone says to get this. Sooo funny that people have so much negatively towards it when most creators take the bag, we just took the racing experience. Something we could never afford to do.
Would love to see a detailed look at lap data with some professionals! Whether it's pro drivers or people who work at the track or whatever, I think having them walk you through your data and how that translates to improving times/ being a better driver would be fascinating and useful for all of us
A trip to the 'Ring back in the day really changed my mind about DCT. A huge amount of the BMWs there ran DCT - because on tracks that have a lot of shifting, it makes a noticeable difference in lap times. When I had an e92 for a hot minute, I felt like the gearing and shifting on the DCT suited the s65 engine really well. I recall hearing that the car was developed around that transmission. DCT kinda rips!
Just the tires and alignment should make for over 2s difference. I love the concept, but tires and alignments aren't really a mod and there's too much difference between a "200"tw competition tire and a actual 300tw summer tire for this to be a helpful comparison. Set the cars up the same as far as tires and alignment, then the test results will show the real difference between spending big-$ on the coilovers and brakes vs stock. Also, the wheels you chose are poorly spec'ed. et 50 is the right offset, 45 max... 35 offset is way off and they poke too much.
agreed, modifying a car for the track is about eliminating weak links more than it is about putting on flashy mods that may not do anything. as an engineer this is just my approach to most technical problems but i know vin isnt the most technical guy so i dont really blame for this video, plus the car has to look good for youtube ig
@ stop. It's cool that Hyundai is paying for this. But Hyundai is gay asf. That's why Hyundai isn't on your "cool car" list and it's not what your normally post. There's no Hyundai equivalent to your e36, your rari, or your Porsches. Hyundai isn't nearly as cool as Toyotas, Nissans or Mazdas
Honestly I have no interest in fwd cars but I will say that I enjoy the Elantra N content mainly because you make it fun and interesting. I’ve never considered a Hyundai and while I honestly still won’t, I did fire up an auto tempest search and checked a few out which is saying something lol. Happy thanksgiving Vin, have a good one Chief
I have an Elantra N and I’m trying many different tire combos to try to see what’s best but quick tip, play with your alignment with the camber bolts and upgrade bushings those are night and day differences for performance driving
It's cool to see that the suspension, brake, and wheel/tire mods made a measurable difference. The car looks better than stock, too. But the idea that you go out and have a fun track day and have to analyze data to decide that 1.5s per lap on a car you're not even racing is worth the cost of a 2-week trip to Hawaii for a family of 4 is some pretty messed up arithmetic.
idk how those mods are costing 20k either. the carbon aero must be most of it because brakes + suspension + tires has got to be less than 10k i dont see how it could be more
I got a couple of fines in an Elantra back in the day... Best and longest days of my driving career. Let alone I probably wouldnt change it for nothing, not that I'm crying for nothing.
Great video as always. But I would never put that alignment on a street car. Especially in LA where you spend all your time in traffic. Just leads to replacing tires more often.
I've been really loving the direction HMG has taken with the vehicles they've been putting out the last few years. Especially recently. From their rally teams to the N line (combustion) also the N line (electric), and one of the gnarliest looking rides I've ever seen, the N Vision 74. I've driven a Kia (among many other cars) since 2002. I currently have a 2013 Rio sedan that I bought new in Fall of 2012. I would love to modify it into an all wheel drive, street version of Gigi Galli's 2013 Rio rally car. Maybe stuff the twin turbo V6 out of the Stinger into it?😈 We'll see? If it happens somehow I'll bring it down to some event for demos.😉 Oh, and I love that you two Hoons have been working with HMG. Congrats on the new RUclips and Instagram stuff and all the rad sh_t you two have been getting into. I rocked with Hoonigan from the start and it's really dope to have witnessed you two EVOlve from the beginnings with Hoonigan to y'all having your own things going now... Fu_kin' A you guys!
I'd love to see the delta with the stock car on the same tires as the modded one, and just a set of track pads up front. I feel like that is the upgrade that would make the biggest impact, and it's probably the cheapest part of the 20k that was spent.

Casual track day at Laguna, man, wow. The dream!
Donde esta center caps? Where the heck did they go
Cool comparison! Also I love Laguna, never been around it in a car but I’ve done track days on my race bike.
It is THE best track
The car wash at the end was so satisfying... do more of that...
Hahah it’s a must
This is a build regular people appreciate 😅 Very relatable
Where is the 20k at? Coils look like $3k, brakes about the same. 2k for the wheels and tires? Was the aero 12k?
Just the spoiler is €3.2k 🤣🤣
But its about 6k all together for the spoiler, lip, diffuser and skirts. About 6.5k USD
Gotta round up for YT hype titles. Duh
@@vin_tra Well 20k is practically 50k, and that would round to 100k. 100K BUILD!
Great video as always. But I would never put that alignment on a street car. Especially in LA where you spend all your time in traffic. Just leads to replacing tires more often.
MORE RON!!!
Would have liked to see Ron's times regardless. Also, how long those 200 tires last with that camber? :P Love it - nicely done!!!
You definitely improved the looks of the car👍. I wonder how a more budget setup would compare [lowering springs/shocks/anti roll bar]
Realistically it just needs pads and tires but the rest took the car from really bland to pretty cool so it was form for me
White looks nice NGL. Wish you had nice rims but its fine.
Maybe stuff the twin turbo V6 out of the Stinger into it?😈
We'll see?
If it happens somehow I'll bring it down to some event for demos.😉
Oh, and I love that you two Hoons have been working with HMG.
HMG is killing it! I want to drive a rally2 car
I'd love to see the delta with the stock car on the same tires as the modded one, and just a set of track pads up front. I feel like that is the upgrade that would make the biggest impact, and it's probably the cheapest part of the 20k that was spent.
