I know I’m super late to the party but wanted to offer some insight! In an Apple Music interview with Zane lowe Billie and Finneas talked about how Billie did a LOT of the production and writing on this album. Finneas got kind of fed up and said he was tired of writing music and left her alone for a lot of this album and basically said he didn’t know what she was thinking/going through. Chihiro’s music video helped understand the vision a little better as it represents a toxic relationship and the cycles of it (Chasing each other, fighting, making up, repeat) The diner is from the perspective of her stalker. Billie gained 40 million monthly Spotify listeners after dropping HMHAS making her the third and youngest artist to achieve 100M monthly Spotify listeners :) Billie really did her big one on this.
Also blue is definitely not about herself. “Bluer than a butterfly” a butterfly is born deprived of oxygen after spending so much time in its chrysalis. She’s talking about an individual that had a hard and cold home life and upbringing and while she doesn’t blame them because it’s not their fault she cannot change them.
THE GREATEST is the heart of the album she wroted it in may it s about her ex Jesse rutherford L’AMOUR DE MA VIE it s about her ex Matthew tyler vorce who after the break up he got with another girl after not even 3 weeks but the extended version over now it s about jesse bc jesse is with another 21 girl the part u are looking older lately dating another baby Or the ferrari part that he never got a ferrari it s a song from jesse rutherford ex band BITTERSUITE again it s about her ex Jesse she made refrences from his songs with his band in the second part of the song BLUE the first part is a unrealeased song that she made when she was 14 and she singe it to some shows when she was 14 15 it was supposed to be in DONT SMILE AT ME and WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP WHERE DO WE GO? and the second part is born blue another unrealeased song it was supposed to be in Happier than ever but she didnt finished it hope i helped u
