Trash is back! Get it here: www.izotope.com/en/products/trash.html?
What's going on with your site?? I'm trying to log in by clicking the user icon and nothing happens. I tried with Chrome and FireFox with the same results.
Add support for the old one for Mac M1 better idea for sure.
Never used Trash-2 but bought Trash today and I have to say I think its totally amazing and made some amazing sounds with it.
Trash 2 is legendary. This isn’t Trash this should be called Recycling bin.
yeah it looks like they got rid of a LOT of features and made is some kind of stripped down version...hard pass!!
Not really...what feature do you miss here, that Trash 2 has? I can't see any @@justjohnmusicchannel8327
Things removed from this new version:
- No delay section
- No dynamics section
- 3 bands instead of 4
- 1 distortion stage instead of 2
- 1 global filter instead of 2 (*plus a filter for every distortion stage in every band)
Things added to this new version:
- They removed the number "2" from the name for branding
- X-Y pad
- Morphing
You missed the biggest one, you can't make create waveshapes manually anymore. That sucks.
It's basically a stripped down version of Trash 2, which is cool too, I guess you can still use both. The new convolve section looks really interesting.
Plus the convolution is also multi and now
No GUI resizability or Oversampling. What the hell are they thinking?
Oh, and it's kind of a CPU hog now too. 10% of my CPU on Ableton 11 on my new computer
Thanks for the feedback! We're excited to launch this new imagination of Trash and see the reception to it. If we get enough requests like these, we may consider putting features on a future roadmap!
Sorry if I missed this, but did you get rid of the ability to create your own waveshapers?
Looks like it, they removed the best feature!
Thanks for the feedback! We're excited to launch this new imagination of Trash and see the reception to it. If we get enough requests like these, we may consider putting this feature on a future roadmap!
@@iZotopeOfficial yes you are getting plenty of requests like these from informed users, please look into it.
@@iZotopeOfficialso you're admitting to getting rid of the good stuff?? lol
With this new version, can you still create your own custom distortion waves shape like you could in Trash 2? I'm asking because that was what made Trash2 awesome and I didn't hear you mention that in this video.
Man, same here and it doesn’t look like it. That was the best feature I have no idea why they got rid of that!
@@iZotopeOfficialDotched the question
Looks like lots of fun, but is there an undo function for the dice rolls, or A>B comparison support, or any way to retain what you've just found while you explore without having to save a new preset every time you roll the dice? Seems like a pretty important feature if you want to encourage people to "explore". It's rather an annoying gamble for users to have to risk losing a combination they just found in the hopes of maybe finding something better and not very conducive to the production flow you seem to want to promote.
Bad move. Dumbing down Trash 2. This could have been the new BEST saturation plug in.
This new release made me actually look deeply at my cheaply obtained copy of Trash 2.
In my DAW , I linked the filters on Trash 2 for control of wideband saturation emphasis. Brilliant! Imo this is essential for any saturator.
You can't do that on "trash" because you took away the comprehensive filters/eq's. And one of the bands. And the excellent malleable signal flow graph, and the oversampling, and the waveshape editing. My god.
All you had to do was give it a facelift, resizable gui, and internal linking of the eq(s), ON TOP of the 1 notable feature (x/y morph) you added.
The Mcdonalds of plug ins. Could have been Five Guys.
69 distortion waveshapes? Nice.
Lol. Trash 2 had an infinite number of waveshapes. You had the option to shape the wave yourself.
@@ZenoMOD *whoosh*
dammmit came here to say this 😂
Upgraded for 26 bux, niceee
Trash is 30% od my sound, can't wait to make the new version under pressure 🔥 🔥 🔥
Agreed with everyone else. The sheer generosity of features and flexibility of Trash II, plus the batshit crazy range of presets you could cycle through to get an interesting new sound even after years of using it, are what made it amazing. Please release an ACTUAL update of Trash II, one of my all-time favorite plugins, and not this neutered, dumbed-down version, and I’ll gladly pay $70-80 for it
If I buy a license for Trash 3 will you also be able to download Trash 2?
Y'all screwed this up... Bye bye functionality... NO LFOS NO CUSTOM WAVESHAPES NO EQ 😂😂😂😂
Thanks, ;-)
Focus on creativity = tons of features removed. Marketing dept/product managers are ruining things here.
No
Too much features harm creativity
I cant believe they got rid of the ability to create your own waveshapers.
@@koenigneronot having custom distortion shapes harms creativity
Just idiotic to remove modulations, instead now a measly envelope.
mmm any chance we could y'know, just grab a download for trash2 ?
Is it part of the subscription bundle? It doesn't show up on the Izotope product portal.
Trash is not included as part of Music Production Suite Pro or Music Production Suite. However, you are eligible for a $29 special limited-time offer (regularly $49). Check your email, or contact Customer Care if you haven't seen it yet.
Where are all the LFO and EQ options?!
Wtf 😂😂😂
Available in Native Access?
Why so many features removed though? Will they be in a free update?
The reboot of Trash is all about a smoother signal flow and some awesome new features have been added! As an owner of Trash 2, you can get Trash at a discounted price. Just head over to your Royalty Offers page for more details. ✌️
Why just logic on iPad and not AUM or Cubasis? Can’t see why those wouldn’t work as they are both native AUv3 compatible.
No Dynamics section. No GUI Resizability. No Oversampling. The Auto-Gain is terrible.
Can't customize waveshapes anymore either! That was a huge capability for Trash 2.
It's 2024... GUI resizability and oversampling capabilities are ESSENTIAL requirements, especially for a distortion plugin and how small this is on high resolution monitors.
You guys need to continue working on this and include these features and improve on the Auto-Gain feature.
Thanks for the feedback! We're excited to launch this new imagination of Trash and see the reception to it. If we get enough requests like these, we may consider putting such features on a future roadmap!
It is a power hog. I used the ipad version and it uses 20%cpu on 16ram ipad. Oversampling woukd crash everything. It is unsusable for me as i do live looping so i hit 100cpu with this thing on just on one channel strip
Doesnt the vst3 version already have GI scaling built it? They totally did away with vst2 btw. Figures because no more custom install location. RIP Izotope
@@iZotopeOfficial This sounds , it is better to wait , for your "coming Roadmap" before Buying Trash :)
Trash 2 has been an important part of my workflow for many years. I wish this new version would have a different name to distinguish it as something different, or at least a suffix besides a number. Maybe this new Trash can be the foundation level, and the older Trash 2 can be updated with even more control and advanced features. I'm actually very excited about what I see in this new version, and happy with the iZotope updates to other programs like Ozone as well, but please iZotope, whatever you do keep Trash 2 alive and compatible with operating systems until I die.
I purchased it because I do like the Trash preset waveshapes, but I think this is by far the worst Izotope update ever. The ability to draw your own waveshapes was one of the best features of Trash 2, and you have removed it!
Thanks for the feedback! We're excited to launch this new imagination of Trash and see the reception to it. If we get enough requests like these, we may consider putting this feature on a future roadmap!
@@iZotopeOfficial@iZotopeOfficial The x/y is interesting. I like that aspect of it, but I was a power user of Trash 2, and this is very slimmed down. It is disappointing that the Oversampling option has been removed as well. I own all Izotope products and love most of them. I guess this one is gear towards a different market than me. Shame, Trash and Trash Advanced could have pleased everyone.
Great video, thanks! I would like to see LFO for the Convolve section and a few more bands, would like to see a bit better sound quality, or at least a sound quality range selection area. I made this comment on another video(I believe my comment was a bit premature, oopsies lol ): Hmm ok, for the $29 I just paid for the upgrade, without trying the demo(Oops... kinda), not bad... if paid the full price...NOPE! Did the go backwards with the feature / functionality by removing things? hmmm not good. Still playing with it, though. Needs an LFO, for the convolve section. The UI is certainly on the primitive side.
Y'all really got rid of all the best features in trash 2, updated the GUI and are saying it's an evolution of the plugin..? Good thing trash 2 still works, once you add back in all the good stuff y'all took out i'll use trash 3
"Trash 2 was a deep plugin with many layers to it" -> Yes, this is exactly what we loved about it ! "But we discovered that most producers wanted fast and inspiring results, so they'd go straight for the presets". SO. Instead of educating people about deep and powerful tools (so that they can understand what they're doing and create their own presets), you at Izotope decide it's better to design a stream down plugin that is basically just a preset browser. You're so wrong, it's painful. Without challenge, there is no progress, and no creativity. Designing sound bending distorsions combining waveshapers, filters, convolution, dynamic processors, etc. is NOT a one knob feature like removing annoying mouth clicks. You even had a cookbook for Trash 2, and that was great ! But that's your policy now : lazy design for lazy "producers" (who are you even talking about when you say "most producers"?). I guess the whole Izotope + NI + PA corporation is going for the "preset music production" garbage market. Too bad for you.
But, hey, let's talk about the sound : this new version of Trash sounds dull, way less capable than Trash 2, all the sound transformation power is lost and the waveshaping algorithms are weak. Trash 3 is like the sonically censored version of Trash 2. The irony is that the free Burier now does a better job at dirtying / enhancing sounds, with one knob, than Trash 3 and its gimmicky features.
Last point : the delay section. That section in Trash 2 was worth the plugin alone as it was so good. The only thing missing was an LFO modulating delay times (but automation is manageable). And the whole delay has been dumped. Insanely stupid -- sorry to be rude but there's not other word. The ability to reorganize modules in Trash 2 in order to design a dirty and destroyed texture delay is amazing.
"We've completely redesigned Trash from the ground up with a modern producer's workflow in mind" = "Our users are lazy idiots so we removed most of the functionality and are charging more for it"
Even if you want to make it easier so you hit a more mainstream audience, you can put the functionality behind an 'advanced settings' button. I'm a 'modern producer' and I'd rather just use ShaperTable in MultiPass - don't try to sell me a downgrade with a pretty interface. Will be back if there's a significant enough update.
Stopping support for the old one to push this out. You guys are off track right now
Trash 2 was first released back in 2012, and was discontinued in 2020 due to an aging codebase that made it extremely difficult to keep compatible with modern hosts and operating systems. When we decided to bring Trash back, it was an opportunity to think fresh about what worked best about Trash and what could be even better. We knew from customer research that most users focused on the Trash and Convolve modules and relied heavily on presets. This reboot of Trash keeps the focus there while adding a much more playful interface to help you get truly custom and exciting distortions that are uniquely possible within Trash.
@@iZotopeOfficial Well I think you did a great job, please keep updating the code as personally I think its really, really good. Great work iZotope/NI

@@iZotopeOfficial too late - I bought it.
@@iZotopeOfficialI tried logging in repeatedly and my account shows a blank white screen with an error in the browser console.
Loving the new Trash, I demoed it and bought it right away. I already produced a track and added trash to the bassline and vocals.
I never understood why you would ever call your plugin "trash"
'cause it trashes up the sound
They should rename the other ones and only call this plugin Trash.
I can't finish this video. A vocal that I don't like is repeated non stop. Learned nothing, except that I should not buy this from the comments 😄😄
Sorry iZotope but this ain't it :/.
Guys...the UI is way too on-brand. (trash)
I like the new updated look and scheme but the way the old version functioned should have been preserved.
We NEED a preset window and a smooth switch Between parameters.
Why does this look like something a six-year-old would use???
You made it better in the past, the wheel didn't need to be switched out, just updated!
Go back and make Trash 2 smooth and themed like this!!!
afro style is the target audience
The old GUI was pretty dated so I don't mind them modernising it, but for some reason this new GUI doesn't even look as good or clean as the UI's for Ozone/Neutron/etc, which is weird...
@@anbanb8787”Afro-style”? What are you insinuating with your comment?
@@YungstarProd😂😂😂
Everyone is hating on this....But I tried it and I love what I hear...... I personally like the GUI, trash 2 was dope, but all the menus and submenus got me dizzy at times. If you can't come up with dope sounds using this, then I don't know what to say....
I'm the same as you, I bought it and I think its amazing and I'm totally going to be using a lot from now on.
A sine wave can be a dope sound if you use it well, you can make dope sounds in a free daw with the included plugins, I could make a dope sound with my mouth - if that's your logic you should never buy a plugin. If the limited functionality works for you that's great, but you have to understand that removing functionality and presenting it as an upgrade is going to rub people the wrong way.
I'm not paying $80 for an update
Please log into your iZotope account to see your personal upgrade price.
It’s 29$
The visual Ui is AMAZING guys. Bought on day one.
I don't know what the hell is wrong with iZotope anymore, they just keep shooting themselves in the foot and screwing up everything that was good. ..ugh!
Oh, i get it, it's a basic downgraded toy version for mobile platforms. Fair enough.
Unfortunate that it's using confusing branding, that's just begging for predictably unfavorable comparisons.
Hmm early/first
UI is horrible
So I downgraded for $25...😂 smh
wow talk about a downgrade from Trash 2 guys. disappointing. Problem a NI move Lol.
Eh bitching done- Does the GUI finally resize now though after 10 years LOL?
Ok changing my review/rant. Its not TO bad. The new GUI is a little easier to see, and just using the LITE version its sounds pretty gnarly. So for us old Trash 2 users, id recommend it for the upgrade price.
Sorry but this doesnt feel like a quality product, even the font looks cheap. I built my own 8 band version of this years ago with far more flexibility.
So ypu don't need either version.
