like most of their lineup, izotope has lost their identity as a developer and have ruined so many of their legacy plugins. I. feel like this would come free with a cereal box. The name Trash used to be used in a good, disgusting way- now it's the literal word.

Now the plugin stops playing audio when ever i touch it and will only play again when i turn it on and off. First and only plugin i have EVER had in music production that just stopped working... wtf
IMO this SHOULD have (at least) had: full spline-based waveshaper transfer curve controls pre- and post-drive eq phase distortion module lag/slew control (for slower/softer amplitude remapping) an in/out transfer curve histogram with an aesthetic visual decay DC input bias IR tilt/smoothing/envelope/transpose parameters with waterfall graph

they needed to have Trash 3 do everything Trash 2 did, but more. unfortunately iZotope’s MO seems to be take bits and pieces from old products/products they buy and make something vaguely resembling the original product, not iterating on it.
Obviously what matters the most is Trash 2 being continued and fully supported, and ownership of it should automatically put Trash 3 on your account since it sucks and nobody is going to use it.
The Ipad version is pretty great for an ipad app. it does warm up the ipad quite a bit when you use multiple instances (i used 4 for about 30 minutes).
Yea it pisses me off. My trash 2 does not even work anymore. Did they break it??? When ever i select ANYTHIGN in the plugin the audio stops and i need to turn off and back on the plug. This is in bleton.
At first glance I was not very enthusiastic. I've been using Trash since version 1. But like you I have changed my mind. The absolute must have killer feature for me is the extensive randomization. I would expect it to only have one randomize button for all modules. But here we have several randomize buttons, which I find quite a bit more flexible. They make it easy to find a good starting point. After a few minutes of experimentation and fine tuning I found it didn't take long to come up with usable sounds I wanted to save as presets. Thanks for the review, I felt it presented an accurate picture of what you get here. One thing that this plugin has going for it is it's ability to stimulate creativity. Frankly, although you may disagree with me, I feel it is superior to Trash 1 and 2 in that regard. At least for me.
Good Review! I'll buy the upgrade (30 Bucks in Germany) and i guess, there are coming more presets/functions & updates in the future. Worth a try. Loved Trash2

I'm guessing that you're not a very experienced Trash 2 user, but a lot of what you showed was already available in Trash 2, but it's just reskinned it seems in Trash 3. For instance, the convolve feature was already there. You could already load your own impulse responses. And pretty much all those IR samples seemed to be present in Trash 2 already. So I'm curious if they added any new convulutions, and if so, what are they and how do they sound.
I watched the ableton roar tutorial and it appeared like it was able to create some gnarly distortion, something that hasn’t been achievable with other plugins from ableton. The mod matrix is nice too, simple yet powerful
Huh this is interesting like, it seems there is some actually decent modulation options here for creating some wild sounds ....but I'm glad I already own trash 2 considering like, this has some cool flavor but does not seem to be getting the tone smashing intensity trash was actually known for It has some big boots to fill why the hell did they come out swinging so weakly
i demoed this on a friend's comp today and trash isn't trash... this youtube tutorial's sound choice is trash. This video makes it sound way shittier than it actually is. The new trash has all sorts of good sounds and presets and there are plenty of ways to make it sound dope on many more sources than I felt like I was able to with Trash 2. For instance, I used it on piano and found tons of great presets. I usually reserve Trash 2 solely for drums. Just my thoughts before you dismiss this plugin the way I did after watching this video.
not understanding how a release can go this poorly! How hard would it have been for this product to be planned/tested with more relevant producers, to avoid this kind of disaster. If the product is no good then why was it created / released?
Overall I would say it depends on what you're going to use it for. Overall experimental distortion unit? Ya its cool. Relevant to the capabilities of Trash 2? not really.
What a big disappointment 😩 also update price changes like the wind. This morning on my user area was 21 euros and now I just checked and it is 35 euros 😂😂😂
Always in our country, there exists persons, they need attention and speaking about every new vst plugin, that is worthless. Even that plugin hasnt been tested right or just for some minutes and just shows it with some wrong configuration in the mix, frequenz settings...so therefore I cant take it serously....
As much as I do love a fair few of Izotope's products, when it comes to sound design and distortion I'm going to stick with Saturn 2, Thermal and Gorgon. This doesn't bring anything new to the table. I'm really fucking looking forward to DickSmasher by Freakshow Industries. But yeah, again, this is nothing new. It really is a shame.

I was fortunate enough to download Trash 2 when it was free during a Christmas, and I loved the first Trash vst (the UI with the cut wire made it)

Do it I use it on all my leads and samples now fr. Any melodic sound basically that would act as a lead/ pad/ fx sound it can be used to great effect.

Can you set what frequency the distortion is affecting in trash 2 like trash 3?
Yes. The bars at the top can be moved up and down the frequency range. Apply a different distortion and amount to each
