  • Crochet My Easy & Fast 2 Color Spiral / Make it Round or Make it a Granny
Today I show you how to make a 2 color spiral the easy way.
You may have tried these before and it just didn't make sense - well, now it will!
I have done all of the math for you to make it coaster size, a giant giant round blanket size or we can make it into a Granny Square. I even show you how. This little project is so versatile, you are going to love it.
Just pick your two favorite colors and go!
I promise, it will make sense coming from me.
This is a great stash buster as well!
In the next several weeks I will also be showing you how to make a three color and then a 4 color my easy, way that will totally make sense.
Keep an eye out for those episodes, because it is not as easy as just adding a 3rd or 4th color, the math is completely different! But I did it for you...
Ciao friends! If you are so inclined, you can now buy me a coffee. It really helps the channel, and I could use the caffeine, so thanks! 😉 www.buymeacoffee.com/ThimbleH...

Hi! Thanks for the great video, if I want to make a spiral square with 7-8 or however many rounds, how do I calculate the amount of hdc and sc I do after I make the corner, the explanation for the circle was great if just unsure of the square as it’s 3 and then 4 so im wondering how to do it in bigger proportions, thank you 💐

How do I adjust my corner and side stitch numbers for different sized squares? Your tutorial is excellent but it doesn't tell me how to make a square on say, round 10. Or round 4? Only round 5

    • @ThimbleHooks
      @ThimbleHooks  Год назад

Hi. My suggestion would be to simply use a bigger crochet hook. That will give you bigger squares. I used a 4 because I wanted a 5" square. Your yarn tension will also make a HUGE difference. As far as the corners, they are right on regardless of hook size, so I would suggest that you just keep practicing - they will get there! Beth

@@ThimbleHooks thank you for your encouragement! However I don't think I made it clear what I was trying to ask. To finish off a circle, you gave us a number based on how many stitches were between each increase. I am looking for a similar instruction for the granny square. You said the finishing sequence to add corners after round 5 is "corner(3dc, ch3, 3dc), 2dc, 3hdc, 4sc, 3hdc, 2dc, corner, 2dc, 3hdc, 4sc, slp, tie off." The problem is that if I've done more rows, let's say I'm at a row that has.. Idk, 12 stitches between increases? that exact sequence won't make a whole side, it'll come up short. How do I adjust it?

How do you determine the number of stitches used to finish as a granny square? For example, if I were to do one more round of spirals and then square it off, would I use the same instructions or add some stitches? I can do trial and error to figure it out but wanted to ask as well.

Hi EB - Obviously I can't see your work, but what you are describing is generally associated with 2 different things:
      1. Your yarn tension is too tight. This is just something that you have to practice with.
      2. You are using too small of a hook. Try going up a size (this will also kind of loosen your tension) and see if that works for you.

When I followed your sequence for the corners, starting with the 3 double crochets in the same stitch, it came out looking strange and not long enough for the amount of stitches I had. @@keanijoi8246 The corner should work no matter the size. It's the amount of dc (double), hdc (half double), and sc (single) you do before and after each corner that makes the square.
The way I worked it out, hers ended with 3 dc between each increase, so that's how many hdc she did before and after each corner with one less dc and one more sc. Corner, 2 dc, 3 hdc, 4 sc, 3 hdc, 2 dc, corner.
If it's the same for a bigger square, yours with 7 dc between increases would be: corner, 6 dc, 7 hdc, 8 sc, 7 hdc, 6 dc, corner.

Is it supposed to ruffle up like mine?

There should be no ruffling Willow. I would imagine it is a tension issue. Try with a bit bigger hook. Bethany

¡Hola Julissa!

Please allow me to apologize. I made unfair assumptions, and allowed my real-life stress to leak out in my behavior towards you. I hate people who act like jerks on the internet, and yet here I am, being exactly what I hate. This is an excellent tutorial, one I will come back to repeatedly. I'm sorry to have wasted your time.
