My GF and I have been checking these out! Pretty cool camper. We go to a lot of whitewater festivals and it would be sick to pull up with one of these!
I just talked to you on Thursday about this unit. Thanks for taking the time to clarify the details. This video just confirms my questions. I may have to invest.
Is it possible to get correct link/product info on the the switch box, inverter, and all front battery box/batteries set up that Justine showed at from of camper? Very interested in this battery/solar set up. Any help with this is appreciated 👍. Jess 🙏
I find it heartwarming that the son is soo dedicated to his father's business. It's unfortunately uncommon now where a son follows in his father's footsteps. These days your kid just disappoints you with dreams about making it in hollywood or wanting to be a rap artist like eminem :/
Regardless of the frame, that's too much weight behind the rear wheels. I tried to tow my WR250x like that and the trailer swayed real bad and the tongue was too light. It's not ideal.
Not sure I’d want that AC just bolted up like that, looks like it needs some gussets and I wouldn’t want anyone standing on those fenders only being bolted in like that. Not sure this guy know what he’s talking about. But what do I know.
The only thing I don't like about the Runaway trailers is the large AC unit sticking out of the front that looks like it belongs in a house! Might as well mount a huge propane furnace to the back of the trailer so that it balances the look!
I'd rather they did that than interrupt or encroach on the interior or add extra height on top. Usually, once they've broken up the interior for one thing, they'll create a little space that's awkward, and so they'll put something else in that little space. Before you know it, the camper costs an additional $5,000. I like that they keep it simple. I guess people who've owned RVs in the past, there's much not to like. But for most people - their target market - we think like campers and just having that bed on wheels is the height of luxury. We already have the fussy bits worked out before we buy our first actual camper.
@@OverlandFlorida Cool. Next time, use a flashlight or worklight as you film the underneath of a trailer. I could barely see the frame and suspension set up. Thanks!
Their website says the AC is standard equipment with their V series. Don't see a heater option. I was planning on a tiny wood stove for heat, and charge my batteries off thermo-electric generators. That way, I'll always have power as long as I have heat.
Overland Florida Is this the 5000 BTU Frigidaire unit? I’m a noob when it comes to this stuff but how can it run the AC for 7 hours? I’m trying to size my batteries, solar panels and inverter and am unsure about the maths. The AC pulls around 4amps I think. Is there perhaps a spreadsheet one can download with the formulas? I’m from South Africa so unfortunately not a prospective client. I’m importing the AC which I’m going to install in my trailer.
Great little camper, but those rear stabilizers really kill the departure angle, perhaps a scissor jack type stabilizer would be as cost efficient and allow retention of that angle?
I was not implying its bad in anyway. just that more options are available. The places I've seen a lot of those things go, the clearance really helps. Anything that hangs below the rear bumper has the potential to be ripped off or hung.
i did take another look at the video, and they are up there pretty well, I think the part that caught my attention, you might have had them lowered partially or something. I still think it would be nice if they tucked above the bumper line.
@@beyondall1925 You're missing the point of this trailer. 1) Built inexpensively for those just starting out. 2) You're to cook outside and enjoy the environment around you. 3) When you start adding creature comfort amenities, it can get costly. 4) If you want a built in kitchen and shower w/ toilet...go buy yourself a 28' ft travel trailer then.
Overland Florida the trailer look pretty modern for that unit though! I recommend using the AC unit from climate right or something like that! Just a constructive critique!
John ... hear hear! I don’t get it either. It’s such a small space to cool. The a/c probably goes on and off every minute. I wouldn’t be able to sleep.
They do. It's a low profile roof mounted A/C called the Penguin II, by Dometic. It's specifically designed for trailers and RV's. Not like the massive one they put on this trailer, which was made for houses!
@@MongooseReflexes There are advantages to doing it their way. If at any point, you need to repair or replace the AC, you just loosen a few screws, traipse down to WalMart or ACE, find their smallest AC unit and stick it in there. Those roof-mounted units are a pain to work on. This way, to get at your AC, you just stand up in front of the trailer. You don't have to climb on top. The unit they put in there is 5,000 BTU unit, which is about what you want.
You need to check on your facts. The 4x8 starts at $7,000 and the 6x8 starts at $9,000. Their top packages are $10,499 and $12,499 respectively. You COULD spend $15,000 ONLY if you added a bunch more options. Go out and price other off-road small camper trailers and you will find some much higher prices.

A sweet little ad, been looking into more and more tiny trailers and this definitely helped clear up some questions related to Runaway trailers.

They are such awesome little trailers. Endless options for customizing and light weight too.

Turns out this is in my county, definitely gonna stop by in the near future
You have to check them out!
Nice, pull well behind a wide vehicle. Thumbs up!
Nice form factor.. Love the idea of a removeable hitch that can be taken to the back.. thats great. The A/C looks pretty ghetto though.
Common in ghettos.. but otherwise, I love the trailer :-)
This is the shittiest rig i have ever seen.

Cool looking trailer. How much pallpark price for this model?
$6,999 for off road version.
I know this is a old video. But how long will that A/c run with the battery?
About 4 hours.

Very cool
Another question? can the frame support a motorcycle ( street bike/ 1400cc) if it were to be mounted on the rear or would you need to beef it up???

Dude, get a smaller bike for the campgrounds.

They have sold over 2000 units and no issues with the AC falling out or stressing that wall.
Very sturdy ! I know I have the off road series

You won't complain when using those in the summer heat lol.

Is this Runaway Campers official RUclips channel?
No it is not. I just stop by when I'm in the area and make a video or two.

Stiffness is BAD when off road. Flex is GOOD
What Is the price for that version? very interested ....living in Flagstaff!
Chris Eppinger 28k!
28K! Someone does not know what they are talking about - not even close!
What will be the cost for one with the same set up?
Love this, looks amazing. Approximate tongue weight?
Well within the limits of any off-road vehicle
@@JDfloridaman I think it's one of the lighter tongue weights, even amongst off-road teardrops/squaredrops.
Can you put a roof top tent on the roof of this trailer?
John Turner sure can!
Yes you can.
Thanks for replying. Where can I find spec's on the capacity of the roof rack etc?
John Turner it’s 300lbs dynamic (rolling down the road)
I live in a cooler climate does it come with optional air-conditioning and heating or just heating

How many batteries? Will it run the ac over night?

As many batteries as you'd like. But this particular trailer has an 85ah battery and will run the AC for 7hrs.
